Tests for TK’s new Minni Compressor? How to "break"

Anyway I have one on the way (as I think one or two other forum members do) in the next week or two and I wondered what you all would like to see done to the thing? What tests beyond the obvious “how long to fill my tank?” can you blow it up etc. would you like me to try? I am thinking it will be worth attempting some upgrading, filling scubas etc.
Anyway if anyone is in the Tacoma WA area and would like to get together some weekend I am dieing to get out and shoot and testing the compressor would be a good excuse.

Ok , got ya,
allot of auto shops have oilers in line with there air systems to add oil to the lines for the air guns,after a good water trap.
and i have been around auto painting for over 15 years. and there is o tolerance for oil or moisture in the air for auto painting .
So with the traps and a filter you can have a system with zero oil.
Virtually any compressor that puts out better than .05 cfm will work but one that small will run continuously. 2 cfm makes the most sense and is pretty darn cheap but use whatever you like.
It is possible to use a traditional oil compressor but if you get oil into the system there is a danger of igniting it under pressure. For legal reasons we don’t recommend it, but if you think you can keep the oil out that’s up to you.
A lot of what we say is to prevent legal problems.

i know this has probably already been ask ,but why do you have to have an oil less compressor, cant you put in a in line filter/trap and use the compressor that you already have.
You don’t specifically need a 2 cfm compressor to run the ShoeBox. As you have noted, the 0.05 flow rate of the ShoeBox is so low, almost ANY compressor bigger than that can feed it. The only problem with a really small compressor is that it runs a bigger percentage of the time which gets annoying.

i noticed the same problem, so i went to Home Depot and bought one made by Husky called the air scout-2 cfm, very light and portable and $100. i did get a 5 ft. air house at Harbor Freight to connect to the shoebox. much easier than fooling with the 50 ft. hose that comes with the compressor and only $6.
DollarHunt, I have a Shoebox on order. Where did you get your first stage compressor at? I looked at the Harbor Freight oil free compressors and the highest CFM one they have is .8 CFM at 90 PSI.
got an oil free compressor this morning and filled my TaloN SS tank twice this afternoon. went from 2000 to 3000psi in about 6-7 minutes. man, i love this thing so far. have an scba tank in transit and plan on selling my scuba tank. since i have read that the piston rods need a lube about every 4-5 hours of running time, i plan on plugging the power cord into a simple timer and set it for 4 hours. better safe than sorry.
shoebox arrived yesterday and i plan on getting an oilfree compressor this weekend. my question is why does this unit need an input of 1 cfm when the ouput is .04 cfm? Harbor freight has some great prices on oilfree compressors but they all put out about 0.6 cfm. if you want 1 cfm output you have to go to a bigger compressor and twice the cost at Home Depot. Is anyone using the smaller compressor and if so, is it a problem?
Walter thanks for the tip on the limiter. I have one on order and it should make my setup mostly complete, maybe.

received my shoebox last week, have not had time to start playing with it but it appears to be extremely well built and designed. Appreciate the tips on how you set yours up Walter although I intend on mostly using it on my SCBA tanks

very little moisture blown out the drain so not an issue as I see it 🙂
