texan repair parts
I live in Canada and wanted to get a new trigger sear for my texan which was damaged trying to remove a jammed bullet. I called Airforce to get parts shipped but they requested that I send it back to them. The false flag gun shootings in Oregon are just making it tougher for guns owners. It’s just an agenda to take away our firearms. I recently had my condor 9mm barrel kit made with an extrreme valve and wow is it ever a treat to shoot when my texan is going through repairs. I wouldn’t mind selling my texan to get another airforce condor or talon to make a 2nd bigbore. If anyone is interested or has a way to supply the Airforce gen 2 safety and trigger let me know 🙂 i was also thinking of getting a 9mm barrel made for my texan which would be a cannon 🙂 .308 too but first this beast needs new parts.

Wow…..dougroundup you summed that pretty nicely
Simplist explanation. Let the proof decide.
Top is from the barrel cleaned and then slugged. Note the compression damage from the beating upon the external of the bbl.
Middle pic is after polishing with Bore Paste to assess what I needed to do to save the bbl. This is the condition shipped back to Joe. Still compression damaged. But in his opinion doesnt need it.
Bottom is of a virgin bbl out of my stock which requires polishing to make it IMHO a shooter.
Boolits are 100% pure lead sized to 457. The barrel could have been rescued.
So for a mirror $300 canuck about $225 usd. And new trigger parts. A fixed rifle. Or $65 canuck if I would have recieved it with the boolit jammed.

Hey Joe,,,,
I know that we gotta drought and all over here in California, but maybe ya can do a friendly guy a favor and postpone the rain a bit until I can get around to working in my yard????
Ok I am just teasing! I dont know if you are still around to read this or not??? :fishing:
Well time for full disclosure, IMHO would be appropriate. Nothing against Joe for I did try to help him.s
Whitewolf,
I don’t understand how anyone could possibly feel that you have taken advantage of this guy or his situation. In my opinion it would matter what you quoted or decided to charge for these repairs. Be it $100.00 or $5000.00
The price you quote and the estimate you give is what it worth for you to do the job. If a customer feels it is not as valuable to him as it is to you , well then they can kick rocks.
It seems what you had to do and what you quoted to repair or rebuild this thing was spot on and was indeed a value and a great value at that. Airgunsmithing isnt cheap, and to do things the right way isnt easy either. Maybe some people fail to realize that to get to the performance point that we are getting outta these air rifles and especially when working with bullets requires a certain amount of fine precision and care. Shooting slugs out of airguns really isnt a off the shelf plug n play average consumer advocation. It requires a certain amount of know how, paitence and skill. It also doesnt hurt to be a bit beyond simply hands on but to possess a bit better than average mechanical apptitude as well!
These Airguns that we purchase in factory stock OEM form are already pushing the performance bounderies and it is with great care and thought with the consumer and end user in mind that manufacturers engineer these products. Sure there is room for improvement but it with great care aptitude and certain precision that is called for…. The manufactures cant expect every consumer to have the aptitude and have to dummy down things a bit for costs, safety, reliabilty, ect….
You get a community of hardcore enthusiasts that are going the distance and they are discussing and sharing what they do on a public forum and then you have a very wide audience of folks that follow along or get caught up in it all. The newbie or neophyte gets excited and wants to fit in and / or you have personalities that are just the know it all, or even others that just think that many of us as being too hardcore , as purists they feel we are just too extreme or elitists and that they can do it too without as much investment in money , time and experience. Usually it a combination of all those things and the mentality of “thats good enough”…. and things like this occur.
Sometimes you just have to relax , listen, learn and be humble ask many questions take advice and remain humble and stay humble!. It saves you much anxiety and aggravation and keeps you from dorking your gear like this!
Airguns cost $$$$$ Custom work and repair work cost$$$$$$
Oh yeah BTW,, thanks for sharing your posts from the other forums as well. It was an interesting read on the Texan and its mechanical inner workings. I had yet to find anyone posting about how this gun operates or dissect it online to share. I found it informative. I will add that it was informative and obviously written to be an informative post and not an entertaining gossip posting made at the expense of your customer. I saw nothing to be insulted or demeaning.
A final thought too. ….. I remember seeing numerous posts prior to him getting his Texan and he stated how much experience he had shooting big bore with his other guns (,sam yang i think) in those posts he mentions how mu h enjoyment he has casting lead and numerous times had offered and tried to get others to try out his own castings of heavy 45 bullets to try out. I assumed he was going to share and wasnt trying to sell them. His offers seemed to go ignored. I could just imagine if a newb took up his offer expecting that it was all good …… I think Joe was trying too hard to fit in with the big boys, i dont doubt that he has experience but maybe not as much as he feels or of the aptitude of others. I just hope that he realizes his own shortcomming and the catastrophic resulgs it could have placed upon others?
Joe I welcome you to airgunning. You have learned a great deal here. I hope you can lick your wounds and proceed forward with this hobby. Beware, it can be a bit rough here and yes maybe there are alot of elitists on board but most of them have earned it….
Rectal cranial insertion is a serious problem, and not to be taken lightly…but there IS hope and even HELP for that fellow…

Found this interesting too…

It seems that he is implying all it needs is a new sear..IMHO, having seen the damage up close, and having pushed a slug through that barrel with my own hands…it will take a hell of a lot more than a sear to put that rifle back to right.
Caveat emptor….

I was contacted by a few air gunners from south of the border. One actually implied that maybe I was taking advantage of Joe’s short comings upon his Texan. 😯
Well time for full disclosure, IMHO would be appropriate. Nothing against Joe for I did try to help him.
So who the hell am I for starters. Since that is the usual take to someone unkown upon a forum board.
Been an airgunner since age 9. Been modifying and building AG for well over 20yrs. An AF owner since 2000. Owned, sold more than a few AF platforms since. Modding and redesigning is what I do north of the border. Been a member here a long time. Only visit usually when I’m asked if I read or knew about something. The short and sweet of it.
This link takes you to the Canadian Airgun Forum’s thread upon the Texan.

This link will take you to the pictures of the Texan 45. Not all pics are for the purpose of the damage incurred but for those who are curious as to the inner workings of the AF Texan, its cocking linkage and hammer system, and its valve.

Muzzle got a hammer whack in the process. Then to reset the bushings he went at them with a hammer so much there are 2 inch long sections of barrel that look stippled now. Hammered hard enough that both areas of damage are tight when cleaning the bore.
The aggravating part is he had agreed to send it to a guy that would have fixed him up right. He just had to leave well enough alone.
Not Joe.
Poor Texan took a lickin’
Wow that bad, Walter?!?!
PM this guys name on CAF so I never have to deal with him.
:darth-vader: f
Oh wow!
This is a brutal thread….. I am probably missing something here and dont know all the details,,,,
Ya know part of the thing I like bout this community is that it is open and unedited and you can pretty much say what the fuck is on your mind and nobody will censor ya and nobody is too concerned bout being politically correct. It works well here, especially that this is a internationally visited forum.
Call me a softy but I am feeling sorry for this guy. Talk about pouring some salt into the wounds and adding some insult to injury? Hasnt everyone done some overzealous bonehead move at one time or another. It’s easy to wear the dunce hat or to make yourself look lame when ya are overly enthusiastic, impatient and trying too hard to fit in and inexperienced enough to think or act like ya know it all… Certainly, some should know enough to keep their head down and button it up, but pride sometimes makes us insert the other foot in mouth trying to save face?
Oh man,,, I understand he further did a real number on it too!? Well I can even just imagine the frustration, anxiety and the pissed off fuck its as you keep digging yourself further and deeper into dispair!
Believe me, after a few days of being with the crystal and not getting a week or so of sleep will make anyone a frazzled and anxious enough to cause such mechanically declined wreckage strewn about their path!
Which also reminds me that we all have our different beliefs, faiths and spirits. Some have a higher power some come from a bottle, some follow the words written by ancient profits , some follow recent profits and others even profit from the followers…… Its all good if they basically all follow something that preaches goodness and follow the basic golden rule….. Anyways, these holistic new age alternative types are often the same types that traditionally against guns and are anti second amendment gun grabbers. Here this granola eating, gymnastic fantastic, crystal smoking, shamanic traveler is our ally and friend in arms. He can carry influence amoungst those that are ignorant of our hobby , interest and way of life. Instead of feeling welcome and having a warm fuzzy feeling for his shooting buddies on here, he is going to go away with a misunderstanding bout us and will relate what asshole hicks we all are…
And we will have a misunderstanding of the ancient arts and crystal powered shamanic destruction of our planet.
I know he has made it very easy to poke fun with but ya gotta give him credit for his tenacity and stickin with it regardless of the good ol flaming!
Besides just to hedge my bets,,,, i dont wanna get taken out by flood earthquake or tornado, so please play nice!!!
Wow,
I saw the picts on the Candian forum. He ruined that rifle and it looked like something you would do to something you hate.
Maybe he was pointing his Atlantis crystal at it yelling to increase he power 144,000 times.
But he will sell you a crystal to wear around your neck for $500 and would appreciate a donation to him so he can go to Mt Shasta and make it rain again with his crystal pointing at the sky.

Adam, you had to see that Texan to believe it. Joe beat on that bullet so hard that the barrel slid in both bushings. The barrel was then removed and the breech must have been on a cement floor to continue the beating.

He claims to be able to control the weather, fight off demons, heal the earth use lost atlantean technology and be a shaman but…he can not fix an airgun nor does he understand what not to do when removing a slug.
It seems like he watched every crazy show on the History Channel and believed it was true
Speechless
This is what his poor texan rifle had to deal with
Tank, frame and grips less trigger bits, safety and barrel. Max value of $400 Canadian imo
Less shipping and time spent on it, my $200 offer to joe is about it! I will straighten up with Kim.
Deal?
So now it gonna try to rip someone off by selling a busted up pos that sells for 999.00. That’s a damn shame. It’s also sad that you got ripped off for 1600.00.

Just a bit of update. The distributor paid for my services that were done to Joes Texan. 😯 Question is will Joe pay him??? Time will tell upon his honest integrety.
