Thought it was time for a new topic so here is my project!

Bought a stock from Boyds last year and I kind of got it carved out when it first arrived, but things came up and did some shooting with a couple air Rifles and then I had to work to pay bills how boring is that!! 😯 Anyway got my lathe up and running last fall and now finished my table build for my Mill which just arrived Monday 8/8/2011 and got it set up and made a couple parts I wanted to make for myself! so then decided to start on my Edgun stock! Didn’t do much of any sanding on it yet and need to profile some of the outside of it, not sure yet how I am going to make it look, I like the Edgun stock the way it is but will probably do a few different profiles on it just to make it a bit different 😯 Well here are some pictures of it in the mill, all the inlaying is done that was a bit of a trick! milled out the slots in the forearm going to do a bit of recess on them and cut down the back and grip area and start to get some shape and rounding to some areas! I have done woodworking and do it now for extra money sort of retired but work more not than I ever did 😯 This is my first Rifle stock so taking my time with it so far all the inlaying came out just fine just have to figure out what I am going to do to the rest of it! I think it will look good when the colors start to blend in, I always kind of liked the blue laminate on some of the other guns I have seen so thought I would give it a try on ED!! By the way this is my new mill 😯

Thanks Zoco appreciate the kind words! I took my time on it knowing if it turned out like I had visioned I would be happy, and I am very happy with it, especially for my first complete stock, I learned what I needed to learn and did a bit at a time! Now I think about you all the time with getting you Edguns Holy !@#%$#$^^*&% crap Ed has to get something figured out soon, I am guessing if he did, sales would be doing very well everywhere! He has a talent for his builds for sure! The man knows what he is after and gets there one way or the other! I wish I could take some time off, if he needs help that would be a vacation to remember! being around what he is building! 😯 😯 I really do hope things get going for him!!

And Mark please feel free to ask any questions, if I can help you I will be happy to! I didn’t have any problems with getting my trigger set, If you haven’t yet watch Ed’s video on setting the trigger he does a good job explaining how to do it! What problems are you having with yours? maybe I can be of some help! let me know. I see some pretty nice mauader bull pups poping up here and there, they look like some are doing a great job on them, seems trigger linkage is some of the hardest parts to come up with, I think Ed did great on his set up! And yes on the white outline, If any of my guns don’t have that they all do now, I have always added that to all my butt plates weather they be plastic, wood, or rubber! gives a gun a clean look 😯

😀 Very nice Eddie,like the white accent on butttpad.I`m still trying to
get used to ergonomics so I can get repeatable sight picture also
still trying to find a way to lighten trigger pull.Did you have this problem when you first got yours?
I`ve got a M-rod.22 with one of Jim Gaska`s LW`s and I`d like to
re-vamp the stock so I may have some questions

Why yes, I did. It was a confession that was later thrown out of court when my attorney got the chicken to admit, under oath, that it was consensual sex!

Those people in North Carolina are really strict on that whole barnyard relationship situation. Apparently the state got tired of supporting little kids covered with wool, or the ones with claws for feet.

I think I might ask Hoot for one reason I love reading your post! and there is no doubt in my mind it would be a novel waiting to be published 😯 😯 LOL!! Yea you are right on the inletting even the guys that do allot of it work really hard to get them accomplished! I used my rounter table to do the air tube inlay and it turned out great! ofcourse it was an oddball size Metric so I bought a concave carbide bit and ground it down by hand on a diamond bit I had that was flat and had a part on the back that was turned down to 1/2 inch so I chucked that up in my lathe and ground the bit for the air tube down a bit on both sides that worked out good, but I did that before my mill purchase! inletting can be done on a rounter table but there is one major problem! you can’t see what you are doing, you can measure up a dept and what width you need but all the cutting is being done with a rounter mounted upside down under a table, and you stock is above the table and you are making cuts that you can’t see, I have done it but believe me it is not easy and not real save! so my mill I have been looking for for the past two years will be making several parts for myself and probably others once I get all the tooling bought! One thing I am looking for right now is a rotary table that will mount on my mill table so I can do bolt circles very accutate, one project I am going to try my hand at is a clip for the Edgun, I’v been pencil drawing up some ideas and saw one on youtube I liked smaller than some I think it was an 8 shot but it was mounted via a magnet and indexed by hand which is fine with me!Hoot if you have any ideas on a clip let me know! Also Ed himself is working on a kit for the Matador complete reciever change out from what I have seen on youtube1 I posted the video of his on the new Clip Kit, it is in Russian but I understood every word!! 😯 😯

Do post pictures of what you are working on there is no doubt in my mind it will be very nice and something you will be proud of as always your a great guy I love you post! I still think you should get a book published it would be one of the greatest published IMO Didn’t you write something at one time?

I paid $39.99 plus 19 dollars shipping so just under 60 dollars to my place! They have some great deals i think! There were a couple guys buying a stock allready sanded on the outside but had to be inlalyed, if I remember right it was for the Marauder rifle 😯

The problem with us non-mill experts, is not having the skills, equipment, or knowledge to inlet the stocks. You can’t find someone to contract that out to, at least without a huge cost factor.

While almost anyone can finish a precut stock, if you want a bullpup inletted, it’s just about impossible to find anyone to do that.

I’m working on a P-rod bullpup currently. I paid $230 for the inletted stock. If you add the $375 for the Prod, you price yourself out of the resale market quickly. With the scope mount, trigger linkage, and shroud extension, you easily have over $750 in the bullpup, no matter how it turns out.

I wish there was an easier way to get those prefitted stocks at a reasonable cost.

I’ll post pictures of the Prod bullpup very soon, so you can see how a fool and his money are soon parted. However, with the new transfer port, bad-assed spring, and some custom settings, I’m hoping this little sucker will be an exceptional performer. But then…I always anticipated I would be a great lover too! Ask me how that turned out!

Mark I bought what they call sky blue laminate if you go here http://www.boydsgunstocks.com and type in Item # 100-148 with the dash it will come right up. It was a bit close in a couple places but when I layed it out it worked just fine! I actually called them there measurments are a little confusing to me! but I don’t order stocks every week either! Really nice job Eddie.I`m sure any of the custom stock makers would
charge at least $300 for that job. Which Boyds stock did you start with?

no it’s a dime I haven’t shot it for a while either been shooting the AA S510 I have two great guns Hoot! Some like the laminate some don’t. I called Steve Cocorin not sure on that spelling of the last name,I wanted to know what he used on laminate stocks so he was very helpful and a great guy, I am returning his favor and helping him out on a mill he is getting so it worked out very well! but laminate is like plywood actually but the colored laminate is kind of hard to work with almost reminds me of plastic! but this is what I wanted to try and make and I did it, so I am happy learned a few things along the way for the next project 😯 😯 Thanks for the compiments Hoot your a great guy I don’t care what Pab says!!
