Thought it was time for a new topic so here is my project!

Bought a stock from Boyds last year and I kind of got it carved out when it first arrived, but things came up and did some shooting with a couple air Rifles and then I had to work to pay bills how boring is that!! 😯 Anyway got my lathe up and running last fall and now finished my table build for my Mill which just arrived Monday 8/8/2011 and got it set up and made a couple parts I wanted to make for myself! so then decided to start on my Edgun stock! Didn’t do much of any sanding on it yet and need to profile some of the outside of it, not sure yet how I am going to make it look, I like the Edgun stock the way it is but will probably do a few different profiles on it just to make it a bit different 😯 Well here are some pictures of it in the mill, all the inlaying is done that was a bit of a trick! milled out the slots in the forearm going to do a bit of recess on them and cut down the back and grip area and start to get some shape and rounding to some areas! I have done woodworking and do it now for extra money sort of retired but work more not than I ever did 😯 This is my first Rifle stock so taking my time with it so far all the inlaying came out just fine just have to figure out what I am going to do to the rest of it! I think it will look good when the colors start to blend in, I always kind of liked the blue laminate on some of the other guns I have seen so thought I would give it a try on ED!! By the way this is my new mill 😯

damn eddie it’s going to be one fine laminate stock once thats finished. i cant wait to see how it looks once its mounted to a barrel! im glad you found some time to get started on that project. have fun in your endevors eddie

That is one thing I love to do Hoot and the harder I try to make time to go it seems to never get done! One of these day soon I am going so say the hell with everything else I have going on and go! I think once I do they will be looking for me as a missing person becasue I will just continue to fish until I need a nap then continue fishing! thanks for the comments on my stock! I have worked with wood all my life kitchens being my main job I do baseboard and trim and also have made several entertainment centers and furniture of all kinds! I lost my job of 36 years of being a machinist to downsizing 6 years ago doesn’t seem that long ago but it was. I have been slow but did get my retirement money and 401k and social security will start this year I am just getting tired of feeling I have to work so being a bit slow is not totally a bad thing! I just started on my own house needs some things updated like doors and outside things fixed so been working on that this summer going pretty well but it is hard to do some things by myself! but I do figure it out 😯 I like the laminate stocks on guns I have seen the guys on here and yellow forum do a great job I know one of them he used cnc router and has a really nice set up! But even at that they don’t get the credit they deserve there is alot of work on a stock from start to finish even if you have done several it just takes alot of time and patience and from the ones I have seen them make they do a great job! I will keep my post up to date as I get time to work on the Matador stock! waiting on a bit of tooling to finish it up, thought I had what I needed but ordered a couple contour bits to make it a bit easier to get what I want! That’s just beautiful!

I had a laminate on one of my Talons and it was a really beautiful stock. A departure from the norm, but everyone who saw it was impressed by the look.

Once you get it smoothed off and coated, that color will really break out and make your Edgun look like a collector’s item. But then, it WAS the only .25 caliber Edgun in the world at one time.

I am impressed with your skills. All I have are good looks! I took up whittling a while back, but couldn’t afford a pocket knife so I used my chainsaw. Had to stop because the neighbors were complaining about the noise scaring their chickens.

PS: Got up at 3:30 am and went Stripper fishing. Watched the gizzard shad jumping out of the water all over the lake, but a thunderstorm had just come through last night and we didn’t catch squat. Still, being in a boat in a mountain lake, surrounded by wilderness is worth the trip by itself. Arkansas “The Natural State” may get a lot of grief over the locals, and their habits, but it is incredibly beautiful when you get to the state park areas.
