Q:

Tired of the GAMO gimmick

Why the hell is GAMO getting all the HYPE on Premium hunting channels and magazine adds? Velocity….Velocity……Velocity and that’s it. Sorry for seeming to HATE GAMO but i think i do. I have shot a couple of em and they SUCKED (accuracy wise) and i have also shot that crappy BALLISTIC ALLOY (gold plated crap) ammo they have and it sucked even more. Could not hit anything with them, and they don’t expand. And gamo is not even close to a GREAT AIRGUN.

Gamo advertisers push nothing but VELOCITY, VELOCITY, VELOCITY and say or show NOTHING about accuracy. Velocity is what powder burners give you. If you want all out velocity……GET A POWDER BURNER. I very rarely see anyone and i mean anyone posting about GAMO ACCURACY. So if it does exist…..GAMO OWNERS….please post some REAL groups.

Its amazing to me that even good hunting shows and host (jim scouten) with years of hunting experience seem to forget that velocity is nothing without accuracy. Gamo is their sponsor and that is why they push there product. All the host ever say is….GAMO EXTREME .22……1600 FPS. Then at the end of the commercial he says “the gun weighs 12 lbs and has a 60 ft lb cocking force”. WOW, and that sounds GOOD!

Sorry (not really) for venting but i was enjoying the shooting show i was watching until…they started pushing the GAMO GIMMICK.

That 1600fps claim was proven to be bogus anyway. Stick a raptor pellet in a condor in .177 and I’m 90% positive it won’t reach 1600. If a condor (one of the kings of high power) can’t do it, do you really think a spring piston gun would? I think they dieseled the crap out of that gun to get it to shoot that fast. Probably only worked for that one shot and blew itself up after that.

But you can’t argue that velocity sells. As well as that whisper. How loud a spring piston gun anyway? People don’t realize the barrel makes very little noise, it’s all in the powerplant. But you say, “it’s quiet now” and people get it.

I still like my cfx. πŸ˜›

actually you cant compare pcp to springer, the pcp will never generate the same kinds of pressures a springer does….

with a light projectile like pba in a condor, the pellet will be out of the barrel so fast that most energy from the compressed air will not have had time to acelerate the pellet to its max….when a pellet is fired from a pcp the pellet will stadily gain speed down the barrel as pressure behind the pellet can be keept up by a valve that stays open, so if we have a valve that stays open as long as we want, the speed we get will come down to the lenght of the barrel….longer=faster to a certain point where 3000 psi just cant move any faster through a bore

a powerfull springer can reach upwards of 5-6000 psi…yes not a typo…thats twice the pressure of pcp….BUT it can only get this high pressure for a VERY short time, maybe only an inch in the barrel will see this pressure, but it means that the pellet will accelerate faster in a springer for the first few inches, especially with a light pellet, once the pellet is on its way down the barrel all the piston now does is try to maintain positive pressure behind the pellet as not to slow it down

so it is more likely in quest for speed that a springer with light pellet will reach higher speeds than a typical pcp…of course if you can make a pcp that handles 5-6000 psi it will be able to do the same

i do agree the only decent gun from gamo is the cfx, marketing is marketing, i meet that 1600 fps at the range, and even the salesman in the gunstore when we started talking about airguns was sooooo impressed with the new gamo they got in as it was able to do 1600 fps…hard to argue with a guy that has 20 years in a gunstore who thinks he knows it all…..and this is a real gun store….dicks sportingoods or big5 its the same where ever….you the bestget the gamo its 1600 fps, and you can use these tiny shot shells for it too, its way cool……………..sigh

cabella’s already has them in .177 going for $10 for 150 pellets, in the pic they look exactly like very ruff predators and they are advertised with the same weight, can someone say shitty chinese knock off πŸ™„

Clearly NOT Predators though, a new pellet entirely. On the flip side they did have a 22 grainer coming out for use in their CO2 pump action rifle. They looked a bit like Kodiaks, and were called the TS-22.

Adding to the already extensive line of air gun ammunition Gamo USA Corp. a precision air gun manufacture releases the Red Fireβ„’ air gun pellet. You will experience better accuracy, deeper penetration and higher velocity with these revolutionary new hunting polymer tipped pellets. The hollow point design creates instant expansion on impact allowing for the taking of larger animals. The hard polymer tip provides excellent flight characteristics as well. This will be one of the air gun industries signature pellets. 😯

The Red Fire β„’ is designed specifically to be the most effective and efficient air gun hunting ammunition available.

Specifications:

Higher Velocity & Flat Trajectory
Accurate and Efficient
Allows for Deeper Penetration
Instant Expansion on Impact
Light Weight
.177 cal weighs 8gr, .22 weighs 16gr

β€œWe wanted a pellet with not only capability of deeper penetration but an aerodynamic design that also travels in an even form; the air gun enthusiast will be pleased.” States Amanda Davis Manager of Customer Service.

So if Gamo has already stirred the pot by taking a wild boar with .177 PBA ammo, WTF will they kill next with the most “effective and efficient” .22 airgun hunting ammo? Moose? Rhino? Walrus?

Bear with a head shot. (i have heard it said bears have VERY hard heads[/u]

Ya right, they surely don’t know they have stolen someone eles design amd probably patent.
what do they weigh, how do they look up close, and did you pick up a tin for testing?

Thats plagiarism πŸ˜• . Pure and simple. The “deep penetration” its plagiarism to me too ( 😯 only i can penetrate so deep 😯 πŸ˜† ). But probably has a diferent weight and it is not “completely equal”.

Hold onto your hats kiddies, Gamo released a new “revolutionary” hunting pellet at the SHOT show this past weekend – called the “Red Fire”. Specifically designed for hunting, it allows for “high velocity, flat trajectory, deep penetration (stop it, don’t even go there you perverts), and maximum expansion upon impact…”

Here’s where it gets good……..

Wait for it…………………

Wait for it………………….

The “hard polymer tip provides excellent flight characteristics as well…..”

The Gamo “Red Fire”:

I’m not making this shit up, people in the booth were acting like they never even heard of the JSB Predator Polymag. And no these are NOT rebranded JSB’s – it’s a totally different pellet. πŸ™„

Machinist………Your too funny!

quote Tofazfou:

OK OK, i must apologize. I forgot about the CFX, i have actually heard nothing but good things about that one and i somehow forgot, its a GAMO. Hell, i wanted one at one point…he he.

Your forgiven… as its based on an old BSA design.

quote Tofazfou:

Why the hell is GAMO getting all the HYPE on Premium hunting channels and magazine adds?

I didnt read all the post but to answer your question..its because they PAY FOR IT… πŸ˜‰

Stower, I remember paying $90 for a .177 Powerline 1000 with 9 lbs trigger… πŸ™

I also remember killing pigeons with it out to 35 yards with a 4x power $30 scope.

Go figure. So, yes, screw Gamo.

That 1600fps claim was proven to be bogus anyway. Stick a raptor pellet in a condor in .177 and I’m 90% positive it won’t reach 1600. To funny stower. Yep, that 1600 fps sounds really cool and all but…I got some 22lr stingers for that. And they arent that accurate either.

9 out of ten times, i’m showing a newbie one of my pcps, or the winchester 1000x i have,(the gun that started it all for me in airguns, was on vacation in idaho and wanted to do some plinkin, found a local sporting goods store, laid down my money, and went back to camp to be disappointed in the fifteen pound trigger pull) and their first response is, “have you seen the gamo in cabelas that shoots 1600fps”? I’m tired of explaining the sound barriers affect on light projectiles. Gamo hooks a lot of people with their claims, too bad people pay that kind of money for an inherently inaccurate gun.{ no i haven’t shot one, if you can prove me wrong let me know} but i’m bettin that even my $150 1000x will do better groups than that gun. I’ve got ten or so hours in the trigger by know, but it finally is crisp and light and has turned this gun into a shooter. Never met a gamo i liked, but i haven’t met em all.
