Q:

turning 22 Condor into a Pussy Cat, 7 foot pound’s of energy

Been playing some more ,had the condor turned up to 75 foot pounds this weekend with 32 g. euijins at 1000 fps, now i went the opposite direction , here is a shot string for ya , bout fell asleep trying to finish this one.

It was terrible windy so the groups are not that great. 36 yard instead of 50, way to windy for 50.

Filled to 2000,Pw 3 ,

.512.520.514.508.512.516.502.496.493.

1300 left.
used a lot of different pellets, all lighter stuff, gamo match, rws match ,gamo hunter, cabela’s h.p. jsb 14g., 15.9 , crossman Premier,
here is one target with most of the different pelllets to get an idea how they like the 500’s

i didn’t really try for the best groups because the wind was bad and i was trying to see what the string would look like with the gun set up like this.

I will sure tell ya one thing the wad cutters do not like the wind at all.the round nose pellets are not near as bad in the wind.
Here is one 5 shot group with the meisterkugeln when the wind let up a bit. 36 yard

The rws Meisterkugeln will shoot one hole at 25 ,30 yards at 750 to 800 fps.if the wind was not tering them up, 22 pellets at 550fps gives the wind allot of time to work on them i guess.the gamo match will also do better than this at higher velocity and no wind.

179 shots, 700 psi.used

Condor valve ,
Probly left something out , i wil put it in later,

Who says you cant turn a condor down and get some shots 😉

In the United States, the American Airgun Field Target Association (AAFTA) rules set a maximum rifle power of 20 ft·lbf (27 J) primarily to limit damage to targets — there are no rules for airgun power in the United States. Individual competition rules may impose limits on power and/or other criteria at the discretion of the local match director. The increased velocity of the pellets from these higher power rifles primarily reduces the effects of distance (pellet drop) and windage (time of flight determines wind effects) but the game is, otherwise, quite similar to that of Britain and other countries. There are no rules in the US as to the minimum or maximum kill zone diameter and targets as small as 0.250 inches (6.35 mm) are occasionally found in matches. The maximum kill zone diameter is typically 2 inches (5.08 cm) but may be considerably larger in rare instances. The ranges of the targets must be between 10 yards (9.1 m) and 55 yards (50.3 m), and they are arranged in lanes of 1 to 3 targets. Kneeling and standing shots are also the norm at every match but not as large a

looks like this would be fun, targets as small as .25″ , WOW! that would make you sweat 🙁

a 14 grain pellet at 800fps is 19.9 foot pounds . so i will do some adjusting. Flattest trajectory seems to be most important.

Also shooting up to 55 yards would mean using round nose pellets , so i will play with them.

Nice work!!

I bought my Condor for pest and long range target shooting .But I found the accuracy to be excellent, so I wanted to find a way to de-fang it and try FT with it .

FT rules are that it has to be under 20 footpounds which is around 900 FPS in 177 and about 650- 750 in .22

I tried .22 in co2, but it just didnt have the ass to reach 50 yards accurately

:8: :8: nice …..

The 14g. Meisterkugeln really likes the 750’s .

Top Hat .075 1950 Psi,fill to 1950 . Pw 3 , that will get around 25 tight shots

Any way this is enough to get the idea. Will put some targets up later at the 750’s with different pellets.

what weight pellet do you want to use Digi2496,

Most likely the 14 grain pellet, then that would be right at 770 fps.

Thats a pretty sweet spot for the match wad cutters , they shoot real good right in that area for me.

How many shots do want between fills,

If your rules say no more than 770fps or 18.5 ft. lbs. then you would either have to shoot off the top of curve and have like 25 shots and stay consistent, or set the gun up were the max will be 770 and have allot of shots but have the bell curve and more shots.

This is your main Key to getting it this low and getting more consistency,

drop in an o ring behind your top hat , this one measures .071 thick and as you see just smaller around than the outside of the top hat. then adjust your top hat down to the velocity you want. turn the pw down in relation to turning down the top hat.

if you turn the pw down too much you will get low power shots in your string.
My top hat was at .055 and Pw 3 for the string above. with the oring behind top hat.

let me know on the pellet you want to use and the shot count you need and i will set my gun up for it and give you a good idea where to start with your set up.

THX SO MUCH, I will contact with a spanish af-customer (jkaleido) to talk about this top-hat mod… I think the best pellet will be the RWS masterkuler or JSB exact 5.52mm (15.8gr) or kodiak d.g. … I’m testing!!!.

I was thinking to get a micrometer tank or a combo etacreg+jds bottle… but your mod it’s very interesting…

Again, THX and excellent job!!
digi.

Wind does mess with them. When the wind kicks up I shift to Kodiak or EuJins.

EuJins have a loopy trajectory but really buck the wind

hey WalkonKing have you ever noticed the wind messing with the wad cutters way worse than other pellets. When i came home yesterday evening i wanted to do the this test and post it. but the wind was terrible,so i did it any way, cant say i have ever shot a lot of differant pellets back to back like this in the wind.

MiesterKlugen pellets have always been a winner for me at short ranges. One hole wonders

Hi *powderburner*,

I’m very interesting in your test. Please, could you tell me what did you do to get that low power in a stock condor????, becouse I would like to down de power of the Condor to 25 joules (about 18.5ft/bls) in .22 caliber to shot at 25 meters in a national champ…..

Thx so much,
digi.
