ugh- a big project
i was thinking about making some mods to the condor body, and was wondering about a ballpark figure on cost. basically it’d be a new body, w/some changes:
-id really like to use an FX airtube, 145cc, to replace the factory tank
-lower the scope rail a bit, change it from a dovetail to a M1913 rail (weaver, picatinny)
-have a m16 grip mounting area (i have no idea what to call it- the area an m16/ar15 grip mounts to) integral to the body
-a small section of M1913 rail on the underside of the body to mount a good bipod
-integral shroud- like anthony’s shroud, but integral to the body…
-side cocking
is this a crazy idea, and am i just wasting time dreaming up this mucho-expensive sounding dream condor, or is this idea possible? thoughts please!!! and the condor would have to be .25 cal. or does anyone have thoughts on how to make this dream gun come true?

I have a bit of insite into the Chinese. Back in the 80s I shared a large house in an International Student Co-op with a large number of Red Chinese Students. The thing to remember is that regardless where you go on the face of the earth most people want one common thing, to be left the hell alone. Most of my student friends were rabidly pro democracy and in fact during the Beijing marches we ran one of the largest fax banks in America linking the Democracy marchers with how the world was seeing their efforts.
One of my closest Chinese friends was a Western Studies Professor from Beijing on Sabbitical in the USA who was as well an officer in the Peoples Liberation Army, {PLA}. Yes, It will happen. When every Chinese Man, Woman & Child expects the same things that your people expect…two cars, TVs, microwaves, toasters, VCRs there will not be enough resources for both nations to exist and one must go.
This was the 80s and as he noted his nation was largily non-electrified. Today two decades later the dynamic has changed and will continue to evolve as the Yellow River project comes on line which will electrify much of China

Well said river, sounds like you have done your homework and china is going to be a huge problem in the near future not to mention they will want their 2 trillion back at some point.
Their total troop count dwarfs ours too by the way almost 1.8 million more that’s not including reserve forces.
China is building 2 nuclear plants in pakistan and they are buying property all over the globe and if they own the power they can sell it to anyone they wish to.
The only good thing about the U.S. falling from the worlds superpower is maybe someone else will police the world for a change.

anyone who wants too argue the point best remember GW had sent no less than Colin Powell in country to give the Taliban 43 MILLION DOLLARS in May of 2001 for their enormorously successful eradication od opium poppy cultivation…a few months later you have GW himself before the cameras claiming the Taliban was financing Global Terrorism by cultivation of of opium. What was even stupider was how Bush started up this idiocy that Afgan opium was a huge factor in the domestic USA. The Taliban had as well stamped out the common persian practice of pedastry with young boys in Kabul. Yes their methodolgy was brutal but it was effective.
So what happened?
The truth is something well outside the scope of the global “War on Terror” and instead had to do with a Natural Gas pipeline that would have linked the rich fields adjacent to the Caspian Sea to Pakistan & the Sub Continent of India that the west would have controled thereby giving us incredible power over two fueding Nuclear powers as well as a major cash cow to the Petroleum industry. Problem was after a basic agreement was reached with a US contractor to build the pipline spur thru Afganistan the west was underbid by the Red Chinese in late July of 01′. This is the primary reason we are over in that shithole.

IF Bin Ladin was in Tora Bora, a facillity again built exclusivly with US Tax Dollars back in fall of 2001 we should have lit the mountian up with a W80 tipped Nuclear Cruise Missle set to a 5 kiloton yield rather than endanger even ONE servicemans life.
Comparisons made to Vietnam are valid as much of the importance of Indochina was again Petroleum reserves, in that case the huge fields under the South China Sea between Indochina & the Phillipines and denying the PRC access to said reserves. BTW, the Chinese have seized control of nearly the entire South China sea over the past decade and a half including a number of island groups formerly claimed as Philippine terriotory.

I think it’s causing them problems putting anything together over there but it doesn’t stop cells that are already here and in place and by your theory there won’t be another attack as long as we stay fighting in the middle east?

As for the president having tea with them I think he sees that it’s a loser over there no matter how many troops we send it’s still going to be a loser.
If throwing more troops and equipment was the answer wouldn’t we have stomped the problem out in the 3/4 of a decade bush was running the war?
I don’t care for obama but he might actually be making his first good move if he pulls out but if he stays in this war and doesn’t send enough help he’s going to send more soldiers to their death, how much longer do you think we can afford this war? The 9/11 terrorist attacks were the result of a lot of mistakes and people just not doing their jobs, we had become complacent but that’s not the case anymore.

Depended on what you were willing to pay for just like anywhere else on the planet, particularly the USA.
Granted much of the production was salvaged steel but a small portion was imported bar stock & rod smuggled/bribed past the Paki border guards.

Today its CNC & likely Russian & Chinese steels
the metallurgy is only a small part
today most of are weapons are investment cast, sintered metal or other trash tech
these guys are still drop forging & milling

That said I am amazed by the sheer ignorance of what my fellow countrymen think of folks from that side of the planet. Let me clue some of you in…
A number of years back a spent a good spot of time on “vacation” in the Northern Territories of Pakistan. It was a young man thing, cheap Hashish and the ability to shoot toys…fired close to 50 rounds thru a soviet RPG7D, belts out of PKMs, DsHK’s, you name it, carried a Stechkin Machinepistol the whole time in country. Spent the bulk of my time in country in the tribal city of Darra which has two industries…Guns/Ammo & Hashish/Opium. The city has hundreds of folks who do nothing but make guns ranging in quality from a step above zip guns to knock offs of whatever you want and if you are willing to pay a bit extra, in quality better than found in western factories. They have a small plant extruding nitrocellous smokeless powder and last I heard were even making their own RPG rounds.
As such the idea that someone from that region tech savy enough to have Internet access might come to Talonguns.com to pick the enemies mind on how to build a damn BB gun is ridiculous in the extreme. Most of the folks I met in Darra could teach any of us quite a few things regarding small arms & crew served weapons. These are not ignorant people as is often painted by our idiot press.
The worst part of the situation over there is that these are people who live & die by the blood fued. Every time we send a Predator or Reaper into the Territories that kills even one non foreign fighter we have turned that entire family against us forever.
When I was there as an American I was universally loved by everyone I met. America was this great dream, after all we were helping to drive the evil Soviets from nearby Afghanistan. Today I would dare not return and much of that thanks to western ignorance of a proud people.
Anyways this really is about the funniest thread I have ever read on these forums.

The 4 to 8 years thinking is hitting the nail on the head and in 1973 we captured a VC colonel (this is when we were pulling out) and we asked the colonel who he thought was winning the war and he said you are and then we asked him who he thought would win the war and he said we will then we asked him why is that and he said you’re going home.
That’s an example of a country that planned for the war to go 20-30 years just like the chinese plan for decades down the road.
I went to college with a chinese guy and he was fun to play ping pong with in the rec hall so I was bummed when he told me he was going back to china to serve 2 years in the armed forces I said why don’t you get your degree then go do that he said that he had to enlist before he was 21 or lose his citizenship.
We will be buying our electricity from china before it’s all said and done and my father-in-law is a regional super for consumers power and he said china has 25 nuke plants on the books in the next 10 years.
Who will stand by us when the shit hits the fan? I think canada won’t have much of a choice because they will be speaking chinese right after we do if they don’t join us but how about the rest of the world? which of our allies will be willing to put it all on the line to stand beside us and I’m not talking about a few thousand support personel or advisors I’m talking full military commitment 🙂
