Uncle Hoot’s Neck Of The Woods
My P12 and I are going for a 4 day weekend to Uncle Hoot’s neck of the woods this weekend. Danville, Arkansas to be precise. I’m going to introduce my P12 to the squirrels and my dad’s free roaming chickens. :5: Will take Uncle Hoot’s advice of head shot only on those chickens. :rofl:

A little info for Hoot and anyone else considering a Lelya in the mighty .25 cal..
I recently fitted a .25 cal BSA barrel to my .177 Steyr LG110 Hunter without doing any other mods to the reg etc..
As a .177cal it is set up to shoot 10.34gr JSBs to 1020fps.. after fitting the .25 barrel it shoots the kings at 670fps (25ftlbs)
Now this was a fun experiment to see what kind of range and accuracy the Kings have at this velocity. The BSA barrel is a 18″ choked 1-16″ twist.
Once sighted I was surprised to see at 35 yards in a light wind that this combo stacked the .25 kings pellet on top of pellet until it fell off the reg..
Now I stepped it back to 55 yards and did the same test.. the pellet fall 8 inches lower than its 35yard zero but still shot inside half an inch..
The stability of the Kings at these low speeds also are evident at the extreme long ranges in the matador (200-300 yards)
So Im happy with the accuracy at 55 yards which I think is an extreme range for hunting with that energy although I have popped off the odd starling with it at 70 yards, it took some serious hold over and the lack of energy was showing..
Now something I will add is the massive fun factor in shooting a .25 at this power level.. it is quiet and the lack of recoil makes it very easy to shoot.. I have found myself using this rifle far more than I used to and it a real “go to” for starlings and other pest birds but also picking of bunnies in the vege patch with surgical accuracy..
I have no doubt the Lelya in .25 will be a very good little combo and have plenty of stopping power with Ed’s proposed 720fps. The rainbow trajectory is not as great as I thought it would be and will be easy to master.. I see the potential for a very nice little garden gun..

Of course it’s a Lady Boy. The Uncle wouldn’t have it any other way. If he finally got that elusive Lelya, and in .25 cal to boot , he should be in good mood. We all know he’s as cranky and perverted as always so he probably haven’t got the Lady Boy as of yet.
He told me just the other day that he has sewn a red leather cheek piece cover for that gun so the gun matches his thongs – and they both will be entering the yearly Toad Suck Xmas conga- line,as a couple, while wearing the color of the season. Tasteful initiativ !

I own two Edguns and two Crickets – both with skeleton stocks. 90% of the time I shoot my baby .177 Compact Cricket because it is very light and small and deadly accurate like the rest. Also, my shooting area is heavy woods so shots beyond 75 yards are very rare and most are below 50 yards. The JSB 10.34s are effective out to 75-80 yards. I have over 5000 shots through it since last March. For rabbits, squirrels, and birds it is very effective. Too bad they don’t make them anymore (because the jury is still not out on the H-Bird which is still being debugged). For raccoons and opossums I use the .25 or .30 cal Edguns. The .30 is more powerful (75 FPE) and quieter so I tend to go there first. I only had one crawl away in over 30 critters at night and it was a bad hit but I am sure he didn’t get far. If I could only have one airgun I would do the .25. Having a .177 or .22 plus a .30 or .357 may be the perfect combination to cover all bases, however, IMO. 😛

With our buddy Donny and a few others that noise question kind of becomes mute. Both can be silenced well enough for a very moderate cost (and I think the carbon fiber improves the looks). I would worry about other requirements important to you first. 😉
BTW – I have a newer .25 R3 standard and I consider it pretty loud stock. Much louder than my R3 .30 cal Standard.

Going to get off topic. I have a burning question. I’m going to let the cat out of the bag since I’ve got Uncle Hoot’s and all the respected airgunners’ attention. I’m will soon have my new Russian concubine named Lelya .22 in February. I hope. As mentioned, I love single shots when it comes to airguns. For a dummy like me, I thought it would be easier to repair.
Here’s my burning question. Which airgun in the .25 caliber between an Ed Matador Std and the Kalibrgun Cricket Std have the least muzzle report? I’m interest in getting a .25 cal bullpup. Put accuracy aside even though it is the most important aspect of shooting a projectile. Ok please stop rolling your eyes? I know what you all are thinking. ” Accuracy is IMPORTANT! And the dummy bought a P12. Hahahaha.” I just want to see if I like this airgun stuff you know. Now I’m addicted and still have 10K JSB .25 pallets waiting for Airgun Technology to release one in the caliber. I came to realization that my testicles will be hung to my feet before that will happen. So going to settle for either Edgun or Kalibrgun .25.
Your experiences and insights will be greatly appreciate. Sorry for the long rant.

Thanks Wingman. I was just joking with our dearest Uncle Hoot about his soon to be Lelya .25. I did initially pre-ordered a Lelya .25. But I changed it to Lelya .22 because I mainly want it for beckyard shooting.
My dream .25 bullpup has not yet made yet. :angrymob:
