Hey! That Vulcan is starting to look attractive! I never cared much for the Vulcan but with the fat boy and sidelever it is looking pretty neat. Not a big fan of the stock though, if he made the black stock (and it didn’t weigh more than the walnut) we would be in business!

The empty mag potentially damaging the probe really isn’t an issue. It’s no different to the empty mag with the bolt if you think about it. The mechanics of physically loading are no different it’s just the lever that’s different so it’s easier to load.
You still feel as soon as the mag’s empty just your hand is not working as hard for the probe to do the same job if that makes sense. If anything, because it’s so much lighter to load (my .25 would need brute force in the old bolt) I actually feel there’s less chance now of damaging anything as you’re not forcing things with any momentum.
I shoot with my mate who also has a .25 Vulcan and I feel bad watching him cranking away on that side bolt! Sounds bloody terrible at midnight in a field when you’re trying not to alert the rabbits.
With the side lever there’s no guess work, one thing you will notice when you use the side lever is that you can now hear the trigger setting when you cock the gun. Because it’s quiet and you’re not getting the bolt grating on the side plate or hitting the bolt stop you can hear the action further back.
Many times before, myself and my mate had (when in a rush for follow up shots) failed to actually cock the gun properly with the original bolt. Then it’s mag out so you don’t load another pellet etc. The side lever totally takes away any uncertainty.
As I’ve mentioned, apart from the visuals of the plate the only slight negative is you have to hold the lever back when fitting the mag as you’ve got the spring loaded cocking arm (which with the standard bolt is overcome with the bolt locked in the back position)

No drawbacks at all this is an awesome mod! I also did the mod where you mark your mag and it shows you that you’re on your last shot. Made an already good AG GREAT! :8: :8: :8:

So it seams everyone using this new mod loves it except for the 3d printed side plate. Has anyone found any drawbacks like bent probe from last shot in mag being blocked or mag damage? This mod may be just the game changer i am looking for to finally pull the trigger on a vulcan.
Hi Mike, don’t see any reason it would. You don’t need to change anything, so it’s still setting the hammer the same.

Only downside I’ve come across with this new side lever swap is having to hold it in the open position to fit the magazine.
There is a spring on the hammer cocking arm which (when lever is back) wants to just pull the pellet probe forward. With the stock lever there’s obviously the groove in the side plate to lock the bolt back, this is obviously not a feature of a side lever.
I was looking at it last night trying to work out a way to sort it, I’m sure Evgeny could anyway.
Not sure why he came up with the side bolt like he did really. I think a lot may be to do with it being swappable so easily.
To be fair my original cocking was far improved with me modding the magazine (removing the sharp edges where the probe was catching) and lubing the mechanism thoroughly.
Side lever is a revelation to use though compared to the clunky bolt. The bunnies are no longer wondering what the sound of metal on metal is in the pitch black of night!
If the Vulcan comes out with a Nice swappable side lever it might just be in my future. But with that Bolt I’d rather have a mutant.
I am surprised that AGT is not coming out with the Impact-style lever retrofit….it’s a low hanging fruit with not much investment and tremendous handling improvement addressing the major complaint with the Vulcans.

Having just ordered the side lever. Function over Form. As James says lever makes the gun smoother and quieter. More useable too especially for hunting or pest control. Target shooting too. One normally fires a lot of pellets at targets so nice loading action as on my Airwolf is more rewarding . Plastic side plate is naff but easily remedied. I guess Evgeny has a lot going on and this mod is not on his agenda. I asked him.
The Vulcan is my go to gun but reminds me strongly of the clunky bolt action of my Rapid , designed over 20 years ago.
Nothing is perfect.

I’m going to be refinishing my stock at some point, I’ll probably do it in durable textured black like I did my P10. Also thinking of digi camo hydro dip. Mine has suffered a fair bit of light damage as it gets a lot of use at night and gets rested on gate posts etc.
Not really getting the mag indicator, didn’t think you could even see that part? Will check it out, was also thinking about something involving a small tritium vial for indicator (my Vulcan gets solely used for NV)
I’m going to be adding some tritium to my action, next to the mag slot as it can be a right old fumble in the dark (and not the good kind)
