It’s primarily the rearward motion compressing the hammer spring that is difficult on my Vulcan 22. The forward motion has always been quite easy.
I tried out chamfering one of my 22 magazines and the result was worse rather than better. I think it all depends on how well the pellet probe and magazines engage on ones particular gun. In my case, there really aren’t any witness marks on the magazines showing impingement. Also, the forward cocking motion has always been smooth.
You can check how chamfering is likely to affect your magazine/probe combination by carefully feeling the resistance of the bolt as you slowly advance it forward.
At about mid position in the slot, you can feel the thick part of the probe enter the magazine. At about 3/4 forward, you feel the pellet engage the barrel o-ring. On my stock magazines, the probe (fat part) entry is barely noticeable. The o-ring resistance is easily 4-5 times more.
After chamfering, the probe entry is about three times more than stock resistance after polishing with a diamond hone. After further polishing with 4,000 grit cloth, it got back down to stock amount of resistance.
Basically, it’s a mod that could help if the probe entry resistance is high or “catches”, but you should check your own gun’s behavior before doing it.
That said, I’m interested in side lever’s mechanical advantage for compressing the hammer spring. That is a magnitude bigger issue on mine.
Well worth doing the mod I mentioned above, mine’s lovely to cock now.
I knew something wasn’t right and you could actually see on the mag centre where the probe had been hitting the edge on the way past. With quite a strong clockwise Spring pressure, as the probe goes through the thin part starts the pellet on the way and the mag wants to move round, then the fat part of the probe gets to the mag centre and nips the left edge of the pellet guide in the mag. Filing an edge gets rid of that harsh transition and it’s way better. I Also set the centre bolt on mine better when I rebuilt it, added silicone lube to all touching parts too.
I do have pics of what I did.
I almost always single load and cocking got smoother with time, but still not what it should be. Hard to maintain sight picture on the bench while struggling with the short bolt, especially with larger head pellets.

I have managed to smooth out the Vulcan’s cocking notably recently. Just shamfering the edges of the mag centre (where the fat part of the probe hits passing through) has made the gun much nicer to cock! Wish I’d done that months ago.
Can’t see it working with one on each side as you’ll have one side locked.
But in this leverage design it’s usually the angle that locks it so no amount of pulling the actual guns cocking linkage in a straight line would budge it until enough force is provided to break the levers.
The only way it would work is if the lever designed here doesn’t truly lock like is the norm in this design.

Surely the very design of this cocking lever would mean it will lock down when closed/forward.
Can’t see it working with one on each side as you’ll have one side locked.
But in this leverage design it’s usually the angle that locks it so no amount of pulling the actual guns cocking linkage in a straight line would budge it until enough force is provided to break the levers.
The only way it would work is if the lever designed here doesn’t truly lock like is the norm in this design.
We’re not asking if the kit can be used on either left or right side.
We’re asking if we can mount 2 of the levers simultaneously. One lever kit on each side.
Thus being able to freely cock the Vulcan from either side in the same shooting session.
If so, that would be wonderful.

He did reply yesterday, I’ve just sent the money. Hope it’s nice quality, I had asked a chap in uk for close up pics of his but not had anything but pics at a distance I can’t really tell quality.

Definately what the Vulcan needs.
Someone just needs to sort the magazine next. I loaded mine a few times with single pellets without the mag the other night and it’s so much smoother.

The owner of this Vulcan is one of my friend who has got residence in Sweden also . So…when he always go back to Sweden..he will leave his almost all guns with me…Vulcan, FX, Edguns….
And if i see any upgrade like this..i willtell him..he will order it and send it to me …

Interesting, mine’s a .25 so maybe there’s something in that. Had a chap on AGN try his and said it was a good improvement.
I had the prev .25 Vulcan too (which my mate now owns) and his is even worse than mine. All 4 mags had marking on the first pellet hole (one under most Spring tension). Like below..
See around 5 o clock position where fat part of probe hits edge.
Filing that edge away on all has made the probe through the mag really nice now.
