First high grade rifle. This thing is supposed to be a tack driver. He sent me pictures of 1″ groups at 300 yards with it. This will be my gun for competition for now on. I want it now! 🙂

Call them at 800-223-4570 and request a copy of the “Blue Press”. It is their catalog/magazine. I have a XL 650…great press! Their customer service sets the standard for the industry. Ask for “Old Mike”.
I’ve seen it too. I found a guy at the range one day and he’s helped me get into high power shooting. Helped me a lot. He’s taken me out to practice a few times, and he brought me to a local match to shoot. I shoot his ammo and gun, and the guy won’t let me pay him. He’s my trainer, tought me to shoot. I’ve gotten exponentially better since I’ve started with him.

Don’t worry about the price. It’s just money. Like Steve said, if it keeps you outta trouble, man, that’s cheap and for a life time of joy? What more can you ask for. 😉

PS As for reload, definitely. the high power guys can shoot one hole group at 100 yd. with .223 routinely. Impossible with even the most expensive factory loads. Have fun learning a new skill.

If you ever get into lead bullet reloading, (pistol), buy the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook. It is a great reference book. I has hard lead recipes, for example, how to harden soft lead like wheel weights. It has discussions about the relative hardness and softness of lead. It also has an essay about heat treating lead to make to harder. Of course there is also load data for lead bullet loads. Mine is the third edition.

Steve, I am going to start reloading. I’ll take your advice and go buy those books, I think they sell them at the gander mountain here. I think when the rifles get as nice as this, you almost have to reload to reach their full potential.
My Airforce rig owes me about 2000 bucks, Lama just laying down his money in one go, not the drip drip cash feed these AF rifles have!!

When I was 14, the guys who started me shooting told me just that…stay out of trouble and you can own guns. Yes, it was more important to me to own guns and shoot than be stupid with my peers.
Like Akula has aid, “you are a smart, tough kid”. We are proud of you, keep it up. 😀 Let us know how that rifle shoots.
Do you reload ammunition? You might want to buy the Speer, and Hornady reloading manuals, (books). Read them, read them again and again. Then find an old guy with years of experience reloading to teach you the basics and finer points of reloading. You will find yourself producing better ammunition than what you can buy. Ammunition that is custom tailored to your chamber and use. ALWAYS follow the published data. NEVER try to concoct your own recipes. Powders behave differently in different cases and it doesn’t make any sense so don’t second guess the experts.
Remember to wear your TAG t-shirt when you go to qualify for the 2010 summer olympics for Highpower Match. 😛 😛 😛
Seriously thou it is a great hobby and source of discipline if you take the match shooting seriously. Best of luck with it.
