Now I have to save up and get a 300 win mag barrel for it. That’s going to be expensive, over 2000. Anybody got any money laying around? 😛

First high grade rifle. This thing is supposed to be a tack driver. He sent me pictures of 1″ groups at 300 yards with it. This will be my gun for competition for now on. I want it now! 🙂

My advice is use the $1500 on a scope and $500 for private shooting lessons.

Congratulations Llama! That’s a beautiful rifle. You and I have different tasts in guns, but I am very proud of you for following your heart with regards to gun selection. I agree with the other guys about the price tag…way too high for me. But you are still unmarried and living at home, so build your collection while it is convienent. Don’t sell them down the road unless YOU are done with them.
While I wouldn’t buy one, it is a sexy bolt gun in its own right. Ya, it’s expensive, but if it keeps you making good choices and hanging with good people, then it is a good investment.

Kind of what I’m thinking… for $2000 that barrel should have heat seeking and go-around-corners capability.
I wasnt bothered about the effort.. it was the cost I was concerned with.
Which raises the question… if its so easy, what the hell is it that makes it cost $2000 exactly?
Actually, it’s not as bad as it sounds. One of the benefits of spending almost 3000 on a rifle, is that you don’t have rebarrel it, you can switch out barrels in just a couple of minutes, yourself. It uses two screws, and just pops on and off. Here’s a video to explain it better. The video is of one of their hunting rifles, but it uses the same process.

I’ll have to admit though……….for that price I’m with YN……I should be able to set it on the table and have it shoot bullseyes at 500yds while I watch from my lawn chair! 😛

If I’d paid $2800 for a gun it BETTER have a good barrel…. and I sure as hell wouldn’t be thinking about changing barrels never mind paying $2000 for the replacement.

Ha, actually the funds for this came from where I was saving up to buy a 50bmg. After getting into high power shooting, I realized I wanted this more than a big 50.
The barrel alone doesn’t cost 2000. The barrel is about 14-1500. The 2000 is barrel, bolt head, magazines, and muzzle break. I knew this thing would cost a fortune from the beginning. You don’t even want to know what extra magazines cost. I won’t be getting another barrel tommorow, but as soon as I can afford it, I will. It’s expensive, but it’s supposed to be worth it.
If it sucks, I’ll pretend it’s great and try and sell it to one of you guys. 😛
SteveinLA, that last part sounds just like what a guy told me at the range one time. After letting me shoot 30 rounds through his m16 full auto, he told me if I’m good and stay out of trouble, I can own stuff like that. By far the best modivation I’ve ever heard.
