Q:

what do you consider accurate?

for airguns that is
when people say this pellet or that one isnt accurate
what do you mean
to me accurate is hitting 1.5-2 inchs at 50 yds
i hunt and my guns are used for hunting
if i was a benchrest gun ill grab my .22 lr and get single holes at 50
but i like the airguns for hunting and if i can hit max 2 inch at 50 im happy
at 100 id say prolly 3to3-1/4 inches
im only gonna shoot at a crow or pidgeon at that range
its hit or mis basically

I can shoot about 1.5 at 100- 118 yards, Stock Condor Jsb’s 18 gr. with a crappy scope on 9x power.

I belive I can do better ,But I think a lot has to do with the shot consistancy at that range ,10-25 fps difference can be a 1/4 difference at that distance if not more.

SO my goals for next year are a a competive scope with real clicks , and a regulator .

If I could do under an inch Id be happy . which means I have to make up about .5 -.75 to do it.

Im already out shooting some power burners and I think thats as funny as hell.

I just love the expression on people’s face’s 😯 I cant get enough of that 😆

Now I dont know about the surgery part, but I might just lather up my nuts for fun 😀

Air guns, 1″ at 50 yards is what I want. Smaller is definitely better.

Firearms, I won’t settle for more than .5 moa.

i agree i want a gun that will out shoot me also
but
what i am saying is i will accept 2 inches at 50
i know i can shoot way less than that
with my condor i was getting nickle sized gps at 50
with my 223 i can get dimes sized gps at 100

I agree with GTBJ
Just remember,
If you think that 2″ @50yds is the best you can do then,
that is probably the best you will do.

my guns need to be able to shoot more accurately than I can, period!

dont get me wrong if i had a gun capable of 3/8 at 50 yds and so on id be happy a a pig in shit
but if i can get the groups i mentioned id be satisfied
when i get my new gun ill spend some trigger tim and see whats its and me is capable of
thanks for the link rob

Now if the gun and pellet combo shoots 1/4″ groups at 100yds but the shooter shoots 4″ groups then it doesn’t really matter.
Sometimes it is hard to tell which one of the three are causing the
inaccuracy.

Mam, you are talking about a powder burner, correct. Because if you are talking about an air rifle shooting 1/4″ groups @ 100, I’ll give you my left nut in a jar of formaldehyde for it! 😕

Heck you never know…You might be sending that nut to fastfreddy…He has the potential

Was an analogy….But not impossible…My Falcon can do 1/2″ @ 80yds
with me behind the scope..I could imagine 1/4″ @ 100yds if someone that
knew what they were doing were behind the scope..You might want to
lather up the ole scrotum and prepare for surgery… 😆

1/2 inch at 50 yards is a good starting point … I will dance around the target trap wearing bloomers for 3/8ths of an inch at that distance 😀

Crow…

Here is a post I did some time back here that explains a bit about springer accuracy. You may find it useful.

im not talkin springers or pcp
it doesnt matter what the gun
when i hunt i wanna kill what i shoot
if i can hit a rabbit in the head at 50 yds im happy its a dead rabbit
the rabbit wont know weather he was hit in the eye or 1/4 in behind the eye

just like a deer rifle
i have a .223 that i can get 1/2 moa at 100 yds
at 300 im hitting 3 inches
but a deers kill zone is 6 inches around he wont notice weather he was hit in the middle of his lungs or 1/3 down and 1/4 over on his lungs

with my 30-06 i can still take a deer at 300 but my accuracy is now 5 inchs not 3

i dunno thats my views if i can hit the kill zone im happy
all the hunting i have done i can honestly say ive only wounded 1 squirrel and 1 turkey ( arrowed him but he kept goin followed bloodtrail for a long time)

to date i have many predators shot, 17 deer, 21 turkeys and tons of small game/squirrel,rabbit,grouse etc

Dont settle….

2 inches at 50 yards is not even what I’d call ‘hunting accuracy’ with anything less than .25 caliber.

Some folks think springers cannot achieve a certain level of accuracy and so they settle on what they think the springer can do. I have posted groups I’ve shot with springers that will put many PCP’s to shame…and yes, out to 50 yards…. It’s all in how much you practice.

Absolutely…And the more I practice the more I understand how little I
knew in the first place.

I don’t see the diff between hunting and target shooting…Either it is
accurate or not…..Of the 2, if I had to pick 1, I would think accuracy
would be more important if you were hunting. If the gun or pellets you
are shooting has a group of 2″ at 50 yds then you need to shoot
something else or shoot it at a max of about 20yds.. 2″ at 100yds is
questionable…To me accuracy is sub 1″ @ 100yds or max one hole 1/4-
3/8″ at 30yds. Now if the gun and pellet combo shoots 1/4″ groups at
100yds but the shooter shoots 4″ groups then it doesn’t really matter.

X2
Not to say I always acheive that kind of accuracy, just that is what you should be expecting from yourself, especially for hunting… 😀
Best I can do with this talon at the mo’ is 1.5 at 100. So I mostly shoot for rabbits out to 80-90 yards until I get better… 😉
