What’s the differences between a Cricket and an Edgun?

Is it preference or quality?

Kalibrgun

Sometimes it’s just luck with manufactured items requiring such accurately machined parts! I own a .25 Cricket, a .22 R3m Matador, and now a .22 AGT Vulcan, I have had to dig in to all three and give at least one full days worth of attention, modification, even some machining to get them working as accurately as possible! In fact I’ve had the most effort with the Vulcan, I BLAME no one, I am a fabricator/machinist and I understand how the mere slightest variation in manufacturing can create a snowball effect psychologically with someone (consumer) no matter there skill set. I am quite new to this hobby, got a springer July 10 2014, and I have engulfed myself with info from this forum, Rapid 17, and nite vision forum. I have a hard time hearing anyone flat out bash another manufactures product, I knew before I got my cricket the kalibrgun cares little about communication with there consumers…bought it anyway, I knew Edguns were expensive, and harder to come by….. I waited anyway and got one, I knew Vulcans were very new to the market, and not well tested, and probably difficult if parts were needed…..I ordered one anyway….. I LOVE each one of these guns every time I pull them out!!!

I would like to make one more point. How many cricket owners in the USA would still have these guns if there dealers wouldn’t have Ernest to bail them out. I would have to say not many. How’s that for manufactures services

OK. Villa has to be the biggest Edgun hater out there. So be it. He sounds like a kid not getting his way. His number 1 complaint is no parts and service. If I still owned a cricket that would always be on my on my mind to. Just think of this. How come most people who buy a cricket have or thinking of sending it to our friend Ernest for something. Be it Clipping. Mag issues. Trigger work. The list goes on. You get the point. And the rest probable did the work themselves. And if you think I’m pulling your leg just take a look at all the issues under cricket and scroll down on this forum. Let’s talk about service. Could the Edgun service be better. Yes it could .most people realize that. I believe that.out of the box most Edgun owners are satisfied and most cricket owners are not unless they have Ernest do a major tune. The cricket is built a lot more finicky that’s plain to see. :fishing:

Nothing gets past the Ville.. .. Lol ..

I beg to differ on your first point. The second i can agree to -with a caveat : A Cricket is even easier to work on.

And if you have never had any issues what did you need those spares for ?? Just wondering .. 🙂

I have never owned a Cricket so I will not even attempt a comparison. However I have owned two Matadors (.22 R3 Long and .25 R3M Standard) for some time. I have had no issues at all with either one and have never had any difficulty getting back up spare parts. Everyone has there own priorities about what the look for in a gun and what is important to them. For me there are several aspects of the Edgun that I find particularly valuable and important.
1) Edguns are built like tanks. I can bang them around in the woods all day and the POI never moves and all the parts are solid and well built. The design is very simple so there is less that can go wrong or that requires special attention.
2) They are extremely easy to work on. I can take it apart in minutes, clean and adjust the reg and put it all back together in no time.

As a result they are never out of commission, I spend minimal time to keeping them operational and have more time to enjoy shooting them.

Just my 2 cents…

+1 for Ville :angrymob:
This is old news…I also have had TWO lemons, sold the R3 with constant clipping and fixed the R3M MKI, although Ed supplied me with a new Hammer assy 4months later, it still misfed and rough cocking was the norm no matter how much lube you use!

Ed’s service sucks and so does his crappy guns – in my book. And there are many others sharing my opinion over here.

Sir Ville, could you shed some light on your story with EDguns? Ed always answers any question I ask and I am a little surprised you pointed out his ignorance.

Matador is specific. You can either hate it or love it.

An old post of a Cricket or Edgun POLL may answer some of yours and oakey631 question(s).

Cool it’s 2 to 1, so put in your votes people !!!

What makes the difference in an average shooter, and a great shooter, is most often between his ears, not the breech and muzzle of any gun.

I agree. These guns are individuals. My EG story , times two , was pure horror and Ed’s ignorance has made me a non-believer. “There are many like me but this opinion is mine” 😉

Im the opposite Ville’s experience.
I got .22 edgun, .25 cricket.

Edgun = Fast spare parts, Cricket = Slow like virtually never.
Edgun = perfect accuracy, Cricket = ok but not perfect.

I enjoy shooting both, but when it comes down to hunting where one shot really count, Edgun is my go-to-gun.

So it’s never one side of a story.

Im with Ville on that one..!!

I just get a bit rabiat from time to time. My EG experience ( times two ) was less than desireable …

quote SECoda:

I guess VG wasn’t around when the first R3Ms came out and Machine Gun made his debut. Edgun’s were touch and go for a while there and there were a lot of real unhappy Edgun owners like MG. To declare the R3M the leader is nothing short of ludicrous ( and not the rapper). 😆 With the large prices drop that just happened on Matadors there may be some new recent buyers who are again un happy campers. Edgun are still now very good air guns. No longer the best for the price, however, like they once were. 😉

I miss that psycho MG sometimes 🙂 I wonder what happened to his Hillbilly ass …
