Q:

What scope are you guys using on your Edgun?

Just bought a 22cal. standard.
I want Mil dots for sure.. Not sure about power or 1″ or 30mm.
Is the 30mm to big?
Thanks

I myself using a Bushnell 6500 elite cause I wanted better glass but did not want the added weight and length so often associated with other scopes. Is it the perfect scope, no, but does fill my needs of having compactness and lightweight to compliment the bull pup package. I must admit that finding the absolute scope package is a mighty tall order to fill but in my in devours to do so I have come across one that would possible qualify, the March scope, but sadly I can’t not afford one!

quote SECoda:

When your thinking about an airgun scope for longer ranges (beyond 50-60 yards) a standard mil dot scope doesn’t quite cut the mustard with the relatively low velocity loopy trajectories. The reticle begins to matter more than just the highest clarity optics. Hence the reason why Hawke and others developed 1/2 mil dot reticles with graduations reaching to the edges of the view. You can match this in some higher end Bushnell’s and Leupold’s but they start to get real pricey. A standard mil dot scope is not a great airgun scope IMO unless your ranges are somewhat limited. I shoot sparrows just past 100 yards and it is nearly impossible to gauge the trajectory accurately enough using a std mil dot scope where the dots and graduations are too large. When one adds windage to the equation the new Hawke SR Pro really shines or reticles similar to it. Other manufacturers like MTC offer a similar reticle as do many of the main stream scope manufacturers in their higher tactical lines but expect to pay over $1000. When you compare them side-by-side at the range there really isn’t much discussion on this. Take and compare them at Cabela’s if nothing else is possible before buying. Make sue it focuses down to 10-15 yards.

If I could afford it:

The only one here brave and welthy enough for such scope is our Norwegian Oil Tycoon Trygve. 😆

The 1/2 MD – or similar other design reticles – are sure the best choice for long ,or shorter, range airgunning but for my eyes the 16x is far too low mag for ranges exceeding 35 meters if pinpoint accuracy is required. It doesn´t matter what reticle i have if i can´t see the target clearly enough and the reticle will cover almost the whole target (if the target i´m aiming at is very small) at longer distances – thus i need more mag. Atleast 24x for 50-75 meters and higher still at longer ranges.

I just hope the reticle isnt too tiny

The SR6 reticle works well on 16x. Try it in Chairgun Pro. I think my optimal sight-in range was about 44 yards with the Cricket with JSB 18s at 900 fps.

Did a little research on the scope I just got and realized I have the older sr6 reticle, it’s still a tree type reticle but much small than the newer style tree they made….I have the model hk4008 the new ones are hk4009

i used a bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16 mil dot because i really value light weight in a quality scope on my edgun.

I’ve got 2 of these, and I think they are great airgun scopes. They have a bad customer service reputation, but I’ve been very happy with this scope.

The 4-16 is only going on my cricket…I have the hawk sidewinder 6.5-20 x 42 on my edgun…
I use the matador to shoot longer distances over the cricket, which is why zoom capabilities didn’t matter on my second scope

The 4-16x won’t do it much pass 50 yards so i’d use the 25x SW on mine.

Dear Oldgoat;
I bought Hawke Sidwinder 30 T, SF 8.5-25X42, with $630, this is bought difficulty also, my question is; is this one is good for Edgun and do you think this will be useful to shot between 30yards – 150yards?
God Wiling; Still there are more 5 days to get my Edgun .22 long, and i have plan to put this on my Edgun, and also i own (Leapers 5th Gen 4-16x50AO Rifle Scope, Illuminated Red/Green Mil-Dot Reticle, Zero Lock/Rese) this one works great on my M-Rod for the last 2 years,

So, please waiting for your kind advice or any body is welcome, who has experience with these two scopes on Edguns…… 😀 😀 😀 😀

I tried the $1000 Bushnell Elite Tactical 6424, 6-24 X 50 Tactical scope, it had clearer optics and also had HUGE ASS reticle bars, mil and half mil dots! I found it unusable for 100 yard target shooting and sold it for a loss.

I have 4 Hawke SW’s with the 20x 1/2 mil dots and two with 8-32×56 SR Pro’s. After using both extensively and constantly switching back and forth plus shooting a lot at long range the SR Pro is by far the winner. I may sell my Bushnell Elite for something with more than a standard mil dot reticle after all of the trouble it has given me and it weighs within 3 oz. of the Hawkes.

Sr pro…the only thing that wasn’t included was the 4inch parallax wheel… But that doesn’t matter cause I have he small one from my other sidewinder….I had bought the big one cause I liked it more..

Get out. I never win anything. That is a good deal. SR Pro or mil dot reticle? :8:
