Which .308 rifle
Ever since I shot that .30-06 at the range, I want one really bad 8) I did a little bit of studying and it looked like the majority of people said that .308 is a more accurate round than .30-06, is this true? It is also a lot more common.
I have been mostly looking at these two rifles

Nightforce makes great scopes. No doubt. And built like a tank.
Here’s a good list of scopes and nice reviews. I always like this guys reviews, list good and bad, although he tends to review stuff with less bad, but still good revies, and worth looking at.

Anyone have a more practical scope suggestion? I only have one requirement , it must have target turret knobs.
I just read somewhere that the lower receiver on that remington is the same as the DPMS. WOuld it be legal in cali to buy the full remington rifle, and then, sometime in the future, buy the upper DPMS?
Would it be possible to buy an after market collapsable stock for the remington?

Yes, that’s basically it.
You can build the exact same rifle, so long as it doesn’t say DPMS on the receiver, and it has a mag-lock.
calguns.net will have FAQ’s and such about off list lower receivers and all the legal crap.
So lets see if I get this right. You can’t buy the DPMS, but you can make your own with basically the same specs, and somehow that is legal? What is a bullet button maglock?

Nope, not legal. DPMS is on the Kasler list, so it is banned by name.
Remington and Fulton armory sell the exact same lower receiver, which are both off-list, and you can put whatever upper you want on it. POF makes a lower receiver that is compatable with the DPMS uppers as well. DPMS is running 6 months+ backorder on the lr-308’s.
Same rifle, different name on the lower, and a bullet button maglock w/ 10rd mags and you are CA compliant.
You realize after accesories you’d be back up into the 3k range right? 😀
It is nice though. I’ve actually shot one, a friend has it. Very nice. Recoil is pretty minimal. Very accurate. I’d definately reccomend it.
It might be legal, with some of the small capacity magazines. Not really sure though. I’d check before you ordered it. 😛

I think breaking in a new barrel is kind of a debatable thing. Some people will tell you that it will bring out the full potential of the rifle, others will say it won’t do anything.
I found this to be a very good article on it, and it seems to be backed up by some science, where others are meer opinions.

Ok it is decided I am going with the .308.
Since I have all you powder burner nuts attention, how do I go about breaking in the barrel? Bring a cleaning kit to the range, and take the bolt out, run patches though…etc after every shot? How could that possibly change anything?
Any thing else I should know while getting started into the world of powder burners? :4
