Who’s using Bob Vogel’s 43 gr .22 cal hollow points ?
I picked up some at Roanoke, they really look good, but I haven’t shot any yet. Gonna try ’em in my Condor, maybe in the Sumatra.

Subssonic : can I inquire why the choke was removed? Was it to make a more accurate barrel?
I have put most common light pellets using C02 and common heavy pellets through my well used barrel and it seemed to like em all.
Also how much barrel is remove to make a non-choked barrel from a 24 inch .22?

Greg, how accurate is the .22 barrel? I’m looking at getting one of Green Mountain’s blanks for a little side project I’m working on.
It is going to be under 12FPE so power is fine
What would you recommend in barrel material given the choice? Also taking into account that I have no way of finishing the barrel e.g. blueing
4140 steel or 416 stainless? stainless is about $10 more

i know my non chocked .22lr barel isnt picky about what pellets i run…its just a little slower in the fps department due to a tighter fit of the ammo…I might have to order some of those hollow pints just to give them a try..Greg

Sounds most economical to chop the choke off and recrown a used condor barrel and have @ it. Best results would be a barrel that shoots Jerry’s slugs and pellets @ an acceptable accuracy for both.

I have no idea if Bob’s HPs in .22 will respond well to a 1 in 8 barrel but I don’t think twist is the issue. I think the choke is the biggest culprit.
Before you spend your money on a 1 in 8 barrel, you might want to look at some of the calculators out there regarding twist and consider that muzzle loaders shooting spin stabalized bullets or ball often use far slower twist. I’ll just mention that my big bore guns are in the 1 in 16 range and shoot very accurately.
I really like the challenge and also to have a rifle and pellet gun combo. Amazing. Makes the Condor unique in the world of guns.
Makes it a real rifle shooting real bullets, that can be modified to shoot pellets, when the bullets run out, Yea. It really is a Kit gun.
Somebody make a drop in barrel with a 1 in 8 non-choked bore in .22.

I’m going to call them tomorrow to see if they can do custom machining. I’d hate to spend hours of machining time and end up with a warped barrel. I can turn the small OD part special for the condor no problem..but turning the entire length makes me nervous.
This is such an easy mod…not really sure why the negativity? Modern airguns are just as powerful as .22 shorts or .22 subsonics…so why are we still shooting dragging azz pellets?
Shit willies, looks like there are some cheap barrels going on over there, might need to get one of you USA dudes to help me out on getting one.
I’m thinking maybe a .308 target gun, profile the 1″ barrel down a bit, to make it like a heavy barrel.
At $45 for a standard, non finished barrel, looks pretty damn cheap to me 😛

Yes I thought about it for a long time. Wondering why heavy bullets shot like shit in tack driver”PELLET” rifles, every airgun gun bullet made can’t be bad, that’s against all odds. My problem is solved, I want to shoot some of Jerry’s and Vogel’s heavy “AIR GUN BULLETS” accurately? Seems I’m not the only one?
What I was actually thinking was “BARREL SWAP ONLY”, no spring/hammer/breech/valve/trigger. You said it best “KISS”my condor.
BTW I’m not discarding my “LW” factory barrel. Just swapping one barrel for another, The number one reason I actually bought it for is? Easiest gun on the market to swap barrels? Anyone else discard their barrel upon changing calibers?
I can already shoot the Eun jins as can most here? Did you know where the Eun jins are manufactured, Korea, I like to support “AMERICAN” air gun bullet makers. Mr Jerry and Mr Vogel, keep up the good work, you’re gonna be selling more “Bullets” YEA!

Think about this for a minute.
Your discarding a great LW barel for one of unknown quaility, GM barrels are good, but individual barrels are always suspect until you shoot them, and your doing this so you can shoot a limited quanity, expensive as hell bullet, made by a vendor who by the looks of his video’s has not had adequate working ventilation. 😆
EJ 32’s work for me, a 25 caliber and 43 EJ’s work damn well also I am told, no to mention Jerry’s wadcutters.

$85 for the really nice 25in but it’s 1.062in od. So it will need lots of lathe time. They even have 35″ barrels 😈
How much are these “Cheap” green mountain barrels? I might be interested….

Ok, Do I see a non-choked, fast twist 1-7or 1-8 Jerry’s Slug Barrel in the future, for the condor market, ching, ching $.
I’d buy one in the .22 caliber, anyone else interested, Might be idea for a Walt in Hawaii mass buy project?

Guess I’ll have to buy one of those green mountain barrels and start shooting bullets. Should stabilize really well with over twice the twist rate, even at lower velocities 🙂 It would be nice to have a projectile with a very high BC, and carry energy even past 100yrds.

my barrel started life as a .22lr match grade barrel (unkown maker) in the white (looked like a piece of 3/4 stainless barstock with a hole drilled and rifled)…i turned it down to .700 for the bull barrel look and threaded it to take an LDC …i have no idea how much barrel needs to be removed to cut the choke out…but so far the only pellets i cant get to group are the super H points and i think its simply cause i dont slow them down enough…Greg
