Q:

XP airguns ranger 45 caliber 36inch barrel MONSTER !

I now have my new xp airguns ranger 45 caliber airgun , and i must say this is a MONSTER shooting gun . 😆 😆 😆 😆

So far i have tested out 454 round ball ,and 250 grain laser cast bullets .

during brake in so far the round ball is working better , dead on accurate shooting 3000 psi 1070 fps on low power , mid power 3800 psi 1150 fps working down 9 shots to 877 .

The laser cast 250 grain stuff , on mid power 987fps working down 9 shots to 720 ,

these numbers should improve by around 50 fps after break in according to Dan Mcvey .

this gun gets a lot of shots for a big bore , and with the long barrel the power stays up even at low pressures . 😉

some pics shooting this weekend.

I just miked the 375 gr. 30:1 bullets at 0.4535 and 370 gr. cast with WW at 0.4540. This is ass backwards as usually I thought the WW would be smaller in dia. Maybe they just filled out better.

RC…it’s a Accuratemold 46-400B. It drops 375 gr. 0.452 nominal dia. I can’t remember the exact dia now, I’ll have to mic some.

RC, I could send you some of the. 375gr to try before you HP your mold if you like.

Charlie, I don’t have a clue as s/n. I have several different weight bullets cast (3 diff bullets) from the same accurate mold with 40:1. The heavy ones being 375 gr. and also 307 and 235 gr. All FB with wide meplat.

By the way..how did that sprue cutter lube work for you? Hell I’ve been gone so long I’ve forgot all I learned from you guys.

I am using 30-1 and pure lead in my 415 to 420 grain bullets, weight depending on the alloy.

They drop at around 453-454 out of my AccurateMold, and I used to size them to .452, but since I have polished the bore I shoot them as they drop and get far better accuracy.

I am considering having the mold HPed, not that I think the design is better or more effecient in killing power than a big wide metplate but I want to reduce weight slightly.

Good to see he is producing guns again any idea what your serial number will be?

I’ve been waiting for over a year for mine (Ranger 45 28″) and now Dan says it will only be a few days. I can’t hardly wait. What alloy have you guys finally settled for? What works as I’m wanting to save time.

ya they are fun ! fun ! to rebuild …did you see my thread on piston mods making them bullet shaped on the ends …then bore sighting the pistons for alienment ? that made a HUGE difference in how long they last .

doing great actually. just rebuilt it last week for the 1st time. that was fun

MT Saint helens yale lake

Lake Billy Chinook central Oregon
a pic of me and my standup ski’s fun ! fun !

my gun is still performing great with well over 1000 shots now , the ranger 308 will be interesting , if Dan comes out with it

i am also too excited to see the pisten gen .it’s looking very nice i like this gun and i want to run and play this types of guns.

I went out shooting the ranger today , I put about 300 rounds through it using 2 tanks , shooting tethered , the gun shot really good using all bullets , the nice thing about tethered up to a tank is shooting from high psi/ high power , then as the pressure goes down change to lighter bullets low power starting at 3300 psi with 255 grain lee bullet/round ball at well over 900 fps
