Yote hunting with Talon?
I don’t know why..But I wanna go Yote hunting. My uncle has a skin on his wall, I want one too!
I could use the 22-250, or a shotgun, or a 243, but it just would not be fun.
For me it is not simply about killing the critter. Its about making that perfect shot at 50 yards between the eye and ear. Thats my thing and whats what I wanna do.
Does a Talon shooting at mid 30’s fp..have enough power?

I have no doubt you could kill an animal this way, but I can almost guarantee the killing shot will come from only one rifle.
Reaction time, lock-time of the rifle, time of projectile flight, and initial reaction of the animal itself will cause one of you to miss the target.
Years ago, my brother in law and myself would try to shoot gophers in a crossfire. Never once did we ever succeed in hitting the damn things with both guns. The impact from the first shot ALWAYS made the target move, and NEVER were we able to fully synchronize the shots.
Not saying it cant be done. Maybe you will get lucky, but probably not.
I really don’t have any comment about the ethics of using an airgun for coyotes, I’m sure it can be done and done right.
Besides, most complaining about this have NEVER made a bad decision in their entire hunting career, right? 😉

i am assuming was a joke
but still if you have 2 guys and do a legit count down on a standing yote within BOTH of their comfort ranges and they both aim for head then it is possible
not recommended as coyote are very wary and can scent you and see you easy as well as superb ears
i reccomend practicing on eggs or plastic golfballs out to 50 if you can hit it while pumped up on the first shot i feel thats good enough for a good kill
i never adviced inexperienced hunters to do this thats why i said to pracice as i stated
So with your experience and woodsmanship, you feel comfortable advising two inexperienced hunters to get them in the “crossfire” over a staked down cat?

like i said i made a bad shot with the 06
plain and simple
the 223 was a good shot but only got 1 lung
just stating that no matter what gun you use you can get run offs
with the gamo i waited and placed my shots well
got the job done no problem
its all about shot placement a bad shot is a bad shot and if you can place the pellet in an egg at the distance you plan to hunt under hunting conditions DONT do it
i know some here think they are THE hunter and no one can do it because they cant
but it is possible and ive done it with a 30 fpe airgun
just like i killed the squirrels with my 5 FPE airpistol dead just the same as when i shot them with my 25 FPE RWS 48
all about shot placement plain and simple
My 06 won’t take them down, and they get and run off when I shoot them with the 223.

place the shot in the brain which is the size of and Egg
do it from under 40 yards and use a solid pellet
if your using the talon use an eunjin if they shoot well
I nailed a couple yotes with my Rich in Mich tuned Gamo hunter extreme it was making 30 FPE i did it at 43 yards and at 32 yards
1 was a 38 lb male and the other was a 16 lb female in the spring i think she was a pup
i understand you get nervous when hunting and start to shake
if it is bad enough that you cant place a pellet in the vitals you should use anygun as you obviously cant control your body enought for an ethical kill
weather you use a 30-06 or a talon a bad shot is a bad shot and both WILL wound an animal
So practice like this
Go run around the house until your out of breath and shaking from adrenalin then immediately shoot at 20-30-40-50-60 yards on preset up eggs
if you can take each on on the 1st shot your fine for hunting if not keep practicing
If i am shaking so bad i cantr control it i pass on the Shot but i practice a ton and can shoot while shakin i just shoot between breaths and or shoot between movements
ive practiced like this for years now and have made Many kills
out of all the hunting ive done ive NEVER wounded a Deer, only wounded 1 turkey it was with my bow and 100% my fault
wounded 2 yotes 1 was 100% my fault got excited using my ’06 and hit bad he ran for 5 miles we tracked it in the snow and finally got a kill out across a lake
the other yote i made a perfect shot but the damn thing was a Super yote and or had some zombie bloodhe dropped in his tracks at 132 yards from my 55 grain ballistic tips in the .223 i was around 20 yards and he jumpped up and jetted we tracked him through the snow for 2 hrs and finally got a shot took his neck out in that one i hit his 1 long on the 1st shot but he just kept going
he was a 62 lber
ive wounded maybe 3 squirrels and a few crows thats all and ive shot a TON of game
so take your talon do practice keep the shots reasonable use a good pellet and pass if your not stable to shoot it in the “EGG”
thats my advice and anyone dont like it FUCK OFF 😆

There was a thread on here about hunting deer with a aigun, the synopsis was the same, maybe you could with a 30/40fp but you should not. As I recall the guy asking we all kinda figured wanted to poach. Wanted to be quiet, small local woods..ect..ect. I would never consider hunting a deer with the airguns, I have seen several and scoped a few..but never shot at one. A deer deserves far better, but does a cat or a yote?

We..a buddy and I, want to get a yote. I have talon at mid 30’s fp, he has Mrod which is around 40fp.
The master plan was to get the yote in a crossfire…one,two,three..shoot!
My buddy had the idea to catch a live rabbit or CAT, and tie it to a stake in ground, and start calling. Or convince the bait to call for us. 😈 😈

Not my idea on the cat…my pals neighborhood is plagued by them, if he wants to catch one in a live trap thats up to him.
Sure we would both have larger guns with us, and use if needed. The point is to try and create a situation to do it with the airguns.
Yes, I am a sick puppy..and my hunting partner is even worse.

The problem is range and excitement.
Your new at calling, you have better equipment, sounds like you have the best for the job. When that dog comes in, you have a split second for a standing shot, maybe.
I did this for a partial living in the early years of the 80’s.
If you misjudge the range and shoot high, no problem, but if you misjudge the range and shoot low, you break a jaw.
Now I grew up in the cattle industry, and in the mid 80’s I made over a 100 grand in the desert country of eastern Oregon in the cattle industry, and I saw the results of coyotes eating calves as they were born to cows not old enough or bred to throw large calves, killing both the mother cow and the calf.
What you saw was a half eaten dead cow with a skeleton of a calf hanging from her.
At the same time I try to follow a modified Buddist approach to life, I hunt, I kill, therefore I am, I translate souls to higher lifeforms, just a bit quicker than planned.
But I would not do that one to a fellow animal.
Too many folks in this sport use their pee shooters to take on animals they have no business trying to kill either from inexperience or just plain egotism.

I have hunted hard most of my life, and I have made more mistakes than most of you have made kills.
Experience is a great educator, and education does not come cheap.
To most of you I am just another person on the keyboard, but what I am trying to do is to give you the benefit of my experience and my failures.
It gives a really sick feeling in my gut, when I try to kill something I want to collect for food or fur and it ends up wounded and escapes.
I am not Peta member and I am not a pacifist, I ust want you folks to enjoy your hunting experience, I love hunting, I want others t ohave the same enriching experiences I have had.
The 1st lesson is not bring enough gun. Shot placement is the first lesson, but we don’t all make perfect shots, even tho some of the liars on these keyboards will have you think so, so the 2nd lesson is bring enough gun, one that will transmit enough energy to make up for an inch or so error.
That is why game commisions have minimum energy and caliber levels for specific game. Regardless of what you thing of Wildife Departments, they do know their stuff.
Yeah your BB gun will kill under perfect circumstances, but your not perfect nor am I.
