Yote hunting with Talon?
I don’t know why..But I wanna go Yote hunting. My uncle has a skin on his wall, I want one too!
I could use the 22-250, or a shotgun, or a 243, but it just would not be fun.
For me it is not simply about killing the critter. Its about making that perfect shot at 50 yards between the eye and ear. Thats my thing and whats what I wanna do.
Does a Talon shooting at mid 30’s fp..have enough power?

I read this thread and thought roachcreek was dead on. If you want to go target shooting get a paper target and place it 100 yards, grab a beer, and bulls eye it with a 30fpe gun.
If you want to kill an animal do it humanely, please.

For what its worth, I agree. A 30fpe gun shooting as far as 50 yards is highly dependent on near perfect conditions or extraordinary skill to just hit POA and then the power left in a pellet is jsut adequate given a perfect shot. Really, I don’t think you need a moster gun but a 30fpe Talon is just too little. Get a Condor making 100, use at least a 43gr Eun Jin or better yet…. some un-named heavy slug that doesn’t change directions near as much in a tiny breeze, exercise some discipline and you’re good to go….as far as I’m concerned.
I think one of Tagdagger’s AirArcher kits would be perfect, except the hide might be slightly “ventilated”. 😆

My advice:
When you go to kill an animal (not in a survival situation), give it the respect of the cleanest / quickest kill that you can.

Hmmmm, foxes are taken here at around 30 yrds with 40 fpe, though I wouldn’t fancy a big canine at 50yrds with only 30 fpe…….. Suppose its technically possible with a perfect side headshot, but definitely not advisable.

In your original post you mentioned you could use a 22-250, etc but it wouldn’t be fun. I venture to say it would be better than wounding a critter and probably consigning it possibly die a slow, miserable death. a Talon is simply not a dependable coyote killer at that range( and probably not even closer until you get into spitting distance))- not to mention that it is probably illegal too.
