In search of a .25
Hey guys,
I sold my 2 airguns: Mrod .22 and HW97K .177 to get a new one, a .25
My question now is: which one does fit my needs:
– very important: accurate!
– not to loud
– more then 40 fpe
– quality
Anyone suggestions or should I better wait until after summer? Because there will be a lot new airguns I heared. I can fill the gap by buying my friends Matador .22 .
Thank you for your advice.

That’s not german but dutch 🙂
They were thrilled to shoot the edgun..
Did you break that guy’s arm in the video? Did he ask you where the rest of your gun was? I’ll bet those long gun guys were surprised.
Why is everything in German?

just buy a corsair …..it will out shoot any 25 on the market- power wise ,and they are very accurate also .

me with the matador 🙂
100 yards at 905fps with jsb 18 grains
54 yards with JSB 16 grains at 930fps
What is the FPS the Edgun shoots to make the 100yard shot in the other pictures?
Also the winning target,,,, what was the FPS it shot. And what Type pellets did you use? Thanks all information is appreciated 😀
Jeej, I won today my first “real” shoot at 50m (54.68 yards) with the Matador .22 and 16 grainer’s.
Explanation of the 10 shot group:
Was outside, small small breeze.
I started right in the middle of the card, great, but after 3 shots, the white dot of the 10 was gone so I didn’t had a good focus point anymore. That’s why the left uppie came and I compensated too much to the right.
Next time I’m going to focus my cross hair on the numbers..
But, I’m very please with the result!

Right… and that’s the important part. Do you want a 20-40 yard gun or 60-100 yard gun. With a PCP power plant you have enough energy to kill with a body shot rather than a head… which extends your humane range.
30m / 33 yards / 100ft is all I need from my 12″ 177… For the new 24″ 22 Condor it better group the same or better at 50 yards. Then I’ll run it at 100 yards just for fun.
There was another problem I had with the Mrod..
When I shot at +75 yards, the pellet was very and I mean VERY wobbly!..
Until 60 yards no problem, but then you saw it becoming very unstable and because of that very inaccurate.
I hear this is a problem with a lot less expensive and/or not regulated air guns.
Did the test again with the Edgun and.. You see the pellet flying trough the scope on your scope line.
Wow…..
This is not a Mrod bashing topic and let it not become, I only want to tell you the differences.
After the trigger tweak, the Mrod trigger was also very very good and honest, also very still.
No comparison but as others say my Maruader is minute of squirrel head at feeder distances and alot further. I am not giving up my daystate but I grab that .25 marauder when there is a squirrel on my feeder!
Handy accurate enough quiet enough deadly enough.
I hope to get another air ranger in .25 then my marauder may be up for sale but until I save that kind of cash it is my go to gun.
Good luck with edgun would love to shoot one.
That’s FX.
But if it is better.. My friend ordered a new chocked one, not the smooth twisted 🙂 So he is not convinced.
I just think I expected too much from the Mrod in .22
Maybe the .25 was better, but still.. 2 of my friends have a Hatsan, even less expensive, and they performed better then the Mrod!
So no, crossman is nothing for me anymore. This Edgun stays! 🙂
Thanks all for the nice reply’s!
5th of June I have a funshoot here in Belgium, but will try to get some now groups.
One manufactured is now producing a smooth bore barrel that has rifling at the end… to minimize friction and increase energy.
I must agree with you 100%.
Still, with your shooting skills you could probably trim the fuzz off a fruit fly’s nut sack at 50 meters with the Marauder.
Ok…ok….perhaps that’s a stretch, but I’ll bet the fruit fly would be sterile after one shot! I cry when I look at your groups.
Still, when we compare a $400+ rifle with two top of the line ($$$) precision rifles, you must admit Crosman did an excellent job creating a “working man’s rifle” at a price about anyone can afford. I wish they would have adapted their electronic valve system for their Marauder series. I think that .357 Rogue is a waste for the majority of us hobby shooters.
There’s so much happening with Ed’s latest improvements, that I am really interested in what’s going to happen this Fall when some results start to come in.
That’s the great thing about this sport…it just keeps adapting and getting better every year. Seriously, “stretched” barrels, “twisted” rifling, “slingshot” valves…what’s next?

dont do theoben….unless you want to spend an additional 400 in getting it tuned
theoben is not what they used to be…new owners…new management….new quality sigh….they can be very good…if you drop about 400 bucks into a 1400$ gun….but that does make it a 1800 gun, and thats before getting an extra mag, and maybe an extra bottle….100$ for a mag…that crossman charges 15 bucks for….shame on them
m-rod have green mountain barrels….they have gotten a consistent good reviews for accuracy…. reservoir is bit small for the caliber so dont expect more than about 2 mags worth on a fill maybe even less
