New breech (sure not the one you eventually get though!)
Hi
New youtube video
Before you start getting excited, shall I say that for me it is Nice to see how quickly Ed actions his “new breech” (backandforthbackandforthbackandforth), when the one i got in my matador R3 (which is btw the newest model!) every time I load a pellet needs a full hand on it, a good 3kg of pull, and a couple prayers perhaps, to make up for the poor drilling used when it has been manifactured!
What is the point of advertising a new piece when the actual parts that are shipped to the “loyal customers” are made with knives and forks?
Good engineering goes together with quality control, and most importantly customer care.
Sorry guys, i flagged this in a previous post, flagged it to the manifacturer and i didn’t even get the courtesy of a reply (not to mention the possibility of having a faultless replacement breech sent with apologies!)

Yea Yoda!!!!!
I’m certain we are all thrilled to hear you got a fix for your Edgun.
Is it nice and smooth now? Any idea what screwed up the old one?

Guys, could not agree more with these late comments.
For those of you living outside UK, do your math, compare the market and ask yourself the questions discussed above and then put your money where you think it is safe (i won’t elaborate further, as it is unnecessary, isn’t it?).
I got my issue solved by the guy that imports the edgun to the uk, who is a reliable and professional businessman.
And HOOT, the guy “doesn’t bow” either, he is simply a gentleman, that keeps his word after a deal sealed by a shake of hands (old style!)
He didn’t ask me pieces of paper to prove i was entitled a replacement!
And similarly, don’t think that having a piece of paper will get you your replacement if the manifacturer decides that your gun “has no issues”!
I have opened a new thread, as Alex deserves a praise.
You are welcome to carry on discussing (and fighting for) your customers rights for the “rest of the world” market, here in great britain the issue is sorted.
Cheers
Warranty? Tony’s word to me on the phone. Also said he did repairs if needed. Nope, never saw warranty in writing. Didn’t see anything except what you guys post here and EdGun’s website before ordering.
And, obviously, the manual is in Russian, so absolutely no clue what if any print warranty was present, at least not till months after purchase when someone finally posted a translation.
If I’m the only one who was told there was a 2 year warranty, that’s troubling.
Warranty on what?
Has anyone seen a warranty in writing?
Curious.
I bet the line would shrink a bit if word gets out that you might be on your own for warranty work. I asked Tony about warranty before ordering and he said 2 years. If he had said “none”, he wouldn’t have gotten my order. The attitude that says “I don’t give a rip about customer satisfaction” eventually will come back to bite you.
Hopefully this is one of those “failures to communicate” that will get resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.
If ED remains of the opinion that this bolt feel is within acceptable limits, – we shall just have to live with that……
Some may judge his approach as unacceptable, – others may not….. 😉
Cheers 😀
Judging by the response we received on the issue of the cracked wood stocks, I suggest Yoda not hold his breath pending receipt of a new breech and bolt assembly.
The man makes a product that sells well worldwide, and has made it very clear that he bows to no one.
If you have a problem with the Edgun you receive, it’s yours to solve. When people worldwide are standing in line, waiting for months, to buy an Edgun, then Ed has the market by the balls…and he knows it.
Yoda’s situation sucks, but it is what it is. Frustration won’t solve this problem. Perhaps lubricant and polishing might…
Personally, I’d first get some moly grease, then have a well qualified gunsmith/machinist look at it to see if anything can be done. C’mon guys…it’s friction. Almost always, friction can be overcome.

I guess I’m on the sidelines here, but I’ll chime in. Yoda has dropped $2k, substantially more than the cost of many VERY FINE air rifles, on Ed’s product. That product is supposed to have a 2 year warranty on workmanship and materials. An essential, VERY EASILY replaced part of the gun has considerably less than desirable workmanship. It would be quite easy for Yoda to send the “bolt and breech mechanism only” back to Ed for repair/replacement.
I cannot understand why this very reasonable option has not been CHEERFULLY offered to Yoda prior to this point!!
It is quite reasonable for Yoda to expect Ed’s product to perform as well as guns of comparable cost. my own assessment of the EdGun, which I enjoy shooting very much, is that it is NOT dollar-for-dollar up to the quality standards of the other PCP guns I own. ( Including FX Royale 400, AA S410, and Weirauch HW100T.) It is an intriguing and unique design, and I am glad to own it and continue to shoot it, but I am concerned that if I encounter a genuine quality control issue that the “warranty” may not be more than an empty promise(???) based on this individual’s struggle to find a solution to what seems to this observer to be a fairly straightforward customer service issue.

I’m importing a BSA R10 Mk2 LH directly from the UK since Gamo appears to have no friggin intention of performing as US Distributor of BSA rifles, in spite of their being listed as sole US distributor for the past 3 years. I’m counting on the Brits having the integrity to stand behind the gun even across the ocean. Hope I’m right…
Hoot, all:
Take another look at my image posted above please……. 😉
You should be able to see quite clearly how the bore ridges have been “filed down” by the bolt. You see the horisontal “microstripes” on the top of the ridges where the bolt has dug into the ridge tops.
No doubt this is a very tight fit, – and the idea of teflon tape around the bolt is not workable. It will be scraped off immediately. May be a waterproof marker could be used instead, – but I haven’t tried….
That said, – it may not be a good idea to unscrew the breech over and over again for testing purposes. Eventually the threads of the two bolts attaching the breech may be ruined (or rather the threads of the alu block). And I don’t think anybody would want that….
Between the “ridges” there are “valleys” of varying depth and width. The spring supported ball climbs from one “valley” to another on it’s way in and out.
In the above image there’s particularly one “valley” (shown as a dark vertical stripe) roughly in the middle of the bore that would cause problems as it is wide enough for the ball to fully spring out before it will be pushed back in while climbing the next “ridge”……
You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand that the above must create an uneven drag and cater for a rough bolt movement. 😉
The friction between bolt and the bore ridges will eventually end up being good enough. Thats when the bolt and bore have agreed that they’re both comfortable with the movement. Some “glider” may help soothing matters…..
The “valleys” however are there to stay. The more “valleys” there are and the wider/deeper they are, – the rougher the travel for the spring supported ball. Which inevitably will result in a rough bolt handling/feel….
There seems to be breeches out there where the bore is smoother than that of Yoda’s and my own guns. If the “valleys” are not that wide/deep, – the bolt feel would be smoother. As many of you have experienced……….
The big question is: What is acceptable before you can call the breech faulty…. ????
Ed seems to be of the opinion that the above is within acceptable limits. I would say it is not. Now, – who is to decide ???? 🙄
I guess the market eventually will……..
In the meantime Ed could certainly help the situation by mailing a replacement breech to Yoda. He would probably gain much more in recognition for his “customer care” than he would lose in terms of cost of a new breech and shipping of same….
If ED remains of the opinion that this bolt feel is within acceptable limits, – we shall just have to live with that……
Some may judge his approach as unacceptable, – others may not….. 😉
Cheers 😀
Haven’t you ever received an expensive defective item? Your decades of experience tell you to quietly take it up the ass? 😕
There is no way for him to get what he paid for out of it if it isn’t 100%.
I guess you’d feel fine passing it off for full price then? That is what you said initially, now you expect him to take a loss?
Which is it?
Your posts flip flop more than Romney on gun control. Either you have some serious bi-polar issues or you should only post when you are either high or sober…
Abortion? You should have been a blow job. I bet your daddy was pulling out when he got his sister pregnant with you… Of course I say this with all due respect, sir. 🙄
My remarks have nothing to do with “empathy”…it has to do with common sense.
If you have an expensive problem, and nothing is obviously going to be done about it by the maker, do you try to effect another remedy, or is it better to get rid of the thorn in your side and move on? These seem to be the only remedies available to Yoda. Poor guy!
But if Yoda doesn’t want to pursue a remedy, other than replacement of the breech/bolt, isn’t he better to unload the Edgun and get something that works and makes him happy? He’s sure as hell not happy now. Sell the damn thing and get a Kricket!
That’s where my decades of experience tell me to simply suck it up and move on. Life and time are too precious to waste on grieving about something that isn’t going to change.
H 😯 😯 T
PS: As an aside, Synopsys, I have always said you are the poster child for justification of 4th trimester abortion. I say this with only the greatest admiration and respect for your insights.
Won`t do much good if the wheel bearing is shot.
To whom it may concern,
Why is it so hard to grease a sqeaky wheel once in a while ?
I do not think it is hard to do.
Jp
Hoot, would you buy it for full price only to find it has a cocking issue? 😕
I bet you would feel ripped off by the seller if it’s as bad as reported.
If his breach is fine why would he make it up? 😕
The specific cause is obvious, look at the photos of the others that have had the exact same issue.
Of course most of us would do what others have, fix it on own own as best as we can.
Still though there is a disconnect somewhere between everything leaving the shop in perfect operating condition and the photos and accounts of the problematic parts that don’t function perfectly.
It’s easy to say “my gun doesn’t do it” and hope that the one we pay good money for doesn’t have the same issue but what if it did…? Would you be cool with someone telling you your over reacting when your $2000 rifle doesn’t work like it should?
A little empathy goes a long way in both directions (yoda that means you too)… 😉
yoda how about a video? 😀
Yoda, honestly it sounds to me like you are very angry, and uninterested in solutions, other than replacement parts, to your problem.
Ed may or may not respond to your demand. I am of the impression that he feels there is little to no merit to your complaint. That may be or it may not be. We don’t have enough information to assess what the mechanical cause of your problem is.
The best way to obtain results, which allow you to enjoy your Edgun, is to examine and identify the specific cause. Once done, then either Ed will take responsibility, or he won’t.
If that becomes the case, then perhaps we forum members can help resolve the mechanics causing your difficulties. Once identified, the solution may indeed be quite simple. However, unless you are willing to cooperate with us, then your Edgun will remain a constant source of frustration and anger to you.
If that is the way you feel you must handle it…why not sell the gun and move on to a more satisfying airgun pcp product. An Edgun is an air rifle, nothing more. A piece of mechanical equipment that should provide you enjoyment from your investment.
Anger and frustration are a poor substitute for enjoyment. I repeat, sell the gun, regain your investment, and move onto better things. Life is too short to deliberately expose yourself to such continuous frustration and anger.
There’s nothing else to say about this. If you insist on punishing yourself, there’s not much we can do to help you. I can guarantee you Ed is not losing sleep, or sales, over this matter.
With hopes you take action to rid yourself of this pain…

The new breech has ridges that are visible but not palpable
( the famous BIG difference between look and function that we have highlighted over the last 3 pages of posts).
My old bolt, when pulled all back (fully cocked) also had some “play” and was possible to move it sideways (it was rattling basically), and, no, this was not after i sanded the hole, this was before.
The new bolt is tighter.
