Q:

DOA 600 Reticle

Anyone here have experience or knowledge working with this type of reticle? I know it’s meant for fast targeting out to 600 yards, but can it work for air gunning out to 150 yards in much the same way? I’m having a tough time finding a light weight scope for the cricket compact….this reticle is one of the few that I like.

Come to think of it almost all scopes purchased years ago beat the scopes the same brand offers today. Just think about Tasco´s which were still made in Japan vs the crap they push nowadays etc.,etc.

I have the 8-32 Swift on a Weatherby 22-250. It was purchased years ago and pre-xmas tree reticles but is pretty good for P-Dogs (sod poodles 😀 ). That gun has claimed them out to 700 yards or so in South Dakota which is a stretch for a 22-250. :4: I also use an old Remington Varmint heavy barrel .243 with a Leupold for the really far shots. It regularly shoots under 1/4″ groups. Everything is using worked-up hand loads.

Then i quess they should come up with a couple of good reticles. Those scopes are pretty light too, at least the Premier-line although it lacks the adjustable PX – which in turn adds weight. But anyway.
The more good scopes there are on the market, the better they need to get in order to stay there and that,in the end, is good for the consumer. The name “Swift” still doesn´t ring any bell … Well, i´m not the scope expert so maybe i´m forgiven.

Swift is a pretty good moderate level scope. Kind of the Samsung of the scope industry. I just wish they had more variety in their reticles. 🙁

It appears there is a Schott Glass – North America as a part of the Schott Group – 2500 employees and they manufacture optical glass so I guess my Swift (Swift is a US company but assembled in South Korea not China) is Schott glass. :8: It’s also parallax focus from 10 yards. They just don’t have the correct reticles for airguns.

Just checked the Swift website and they seem indeed have the Schott glass in them. Schott is a quality German glass maker (to my understanding they´ve had close co-operation with Zeiss, among other big name scope makers) so if the deal is so the glass isn´t the sour part in those scopes. Never heard about Swift though – at least i can´t remember i have. 😯

Will do. I can’t wait!

I´m very eager to hear about your opinion about it against the Delta. Put good mounts on both of them (d´oh) and head to the range. Alternate between scopes and give me a report.

Keep us posted what you think of it when you get it and mounted.

Hi Ronin. I purchased from Leupold direct. What you save by buying elsewhere will probably be erased by shipping and time spent. Leupold has a 4 week turnaround on custom work. They have not billed me for it yet…I think they bill when they are about customize it or when they are about to ship…I’m not sure. I can’t remember the exact amount. But I want to say $880 for the scope, $25 for parallax, and $120 for M1 ballistic turrets….so $1025ish.

Dr. Steele, What did you end up paying for that Leupold?

quote Dr. Steele:

Ordered the VX-3L 4.5-14×50 scope customized with parallax focus 25-150 yards, M1 turrets, and varmint hunter reticle. Pretty much a custom Mark 4, but lighter. All under 19oz. Should be near perfect for a compact .22 cricket! I’m having Earnest tune the cricket to 25-28 fpe so I can get 40 shots. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Really ? Nothing to see there ….

Now THIS is a shot glass

👿

I learn something new here every day. Scary thought when one thinks what kind of people dwells this site..

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …

I try to avoid buying their crap as much as possible…but you can’t escape it. Very few companies in the US want to produce products here in the states…it’s a shame that no one in the world can compete with china anymore. I have sold so many Chinese items in my retail stores over the years. They sell like hot cakes….but 95% of everything I sold was crap in my opinion….but at 1/2 to 1/4 the price if a USA product. Most people will choose a 75% discount over a 25% better product for full price. I don’t. Taiwan products are MUCH BETTER and a little bit more then Chinese products. I have sold at least 5000-10,000 different items from those countries. Consistently….China = Crap.
