A Baby .177 Cricket is Born
I would like to thank Steve and the gang at WAGG for a safe delivery. π I do have the cheek piece but forgot to pop it on for the first photos. Actual targets using both light and heavy JSBs were supplied and impressive along with shot string results. About 900 fps with the heavies and 955 fps with the lights. I was actually looking to tune it to exactly 900 fps with the heavies. Too cool.

You can equalize the velocity (mine is set at 900 fps for 10.34s) of both guns but it takes a bit more air with the shorter barrel. The net effect is to drop the shot count but it is still pretty high. Not sure on shot count differences. My standard Cricket is a .22 but the shot count is about 65+ with the .177 Compact so how many shots do you need? You can easily get that up to 80-90 by lowering velocity a bit if that is important to you or to reduce noise. My goal is maximum carnage on pests with the .177. π

Not even fpe difference? Isnt longer barrel will gives that extra push? The compact has 390mm which is 60mm shorter than standard. If it could give that extra power, perhaps the standard one would have the option of jsb monster for hunting? Any idea how many shot counts difference shooting at the same fpe? Cheers guys

Only shot count. π
hi SECoda. what do you think would be different than the standard size? at longer distance perhaps? im looking into picking mine up in 2 days. hopefully i can make up my mind real soon.
π You guys have all of the orchards over there in Illinois as we are all hills and woods. π― That’s a good 30 minutes drive for me but worth it if the pests turns out to be as bad as the guy claims. I will find out late spring and summer. I am working on another guy near Sparta, IL that also runs a farmers market but it is a pretty good hike from Godfrey. Do you have any of those 13 stripe ground squirrels on the farms out there? They are kind of patchy. My brother is cultivating a load of them on his farm but he is in southern Wisconsin which is a good 300 miles from me. π‘ Most of my relatives in central Illinois don’t seem to see many.
You need to beat the brush and contact all of the veggy farmers. Many of them hate the pests that are in constant attack on their livelihood and don’t mind the airgunners like they often do the PBers. The one solid invite I have so far is only interested because I am using an airgun and he knows the range is limited.
I picked off two marauding opossums last night with the 30 cal Matador and at least one raccoon ran off. π
Hey Secoda ol’e buddy ol’e pal!!!! Don’t forget I live just across the river also, if you ever need any help. Not beggin or anything, PLEASE,PLEASE π
Hi Guys,
I hope you will get very soon an opportunity to shoot a Lelya and compare it to the Cricket Compact.
I know lately it sounds me like Edgun bashing but honestly I’m just trying to compare products in an unbiased way.
The Lelya for example, while being a little nice rifle/pistol, I would never grab one if I had the opportunity to get a Cricket Compact.
The Cricket Compact is just only 3.9 inches longer and weights only 1.3 lbs more compared to the Lelya and for this tiny difference you get:
-) higher power capacities (longer barrel)
-) bigger aircylinder = higher shot count
-) better trigger
-) multishot
-) no need of additional moderator (some people add an additional moderator to the Lelya making it becoming longer than the Cricket Compact)
-) you can reuse the magazines of your other Crickets
-) a real gun (whereas the Lelya feels more like a toy)
I understand that for some of you the Lelya being almost 4 inches shorter will make the difference but for my personal taste the Cricket Compact is just the right limit of shortness, shorter than this for me just feels like uncomfortable shooting.
Like already said, it’s just my opinion but I hope that very soon I will have the opportunity to hear also your feedbacks.
Did I mention that the Cricket Compact is cheaper than the Lelya? (At least in Europe)

I’ve heard about that “new guy”. They say he’s a pervert weirdo. π
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …
Ran into a bit of luck today. My doctor buddy has this patient who has a commercial garden and orchards over across the river from me and he can’t get the airgun guy to show up he has been begging for a few years ago. Well there’s a new guy in town and he just got invited to shoot at will when the crops start coming in this year. What he describes Is pretty much uncontrolled rabbits, chipmunks, birds, and raccoons. :4:
Ernest signature shows 10. :biggrinn:
“Leyla – you got me on my knees” …
He’d have one less if I could con him into selling me his Leyla. I have asked and always get one word answers !! ” NO ” π
Is that your final statement ?
Seriously – i see youΒ΄re liking those Crickets. You must be the one here with the most Bullpups in your Cabinet. Γne could have it worse in life ::: :biggrinn:
You guys make me want to go out and shoot the Compact right now – and i havenΒ΄t even received yet.
IDK. How many does Ernest have ? :suprisedn:
I only have 7, its not a disease until you hit 8 the way i understand the rules π

If thats the only different and the compact could equalize the fpe im more than willing to sacrifice the air. Anything above 30 40 shots before filling is plenty for me. My only concern is that i wont have enough fpe to shoot heavier pellet or the longer distance shot. Anyway congrats ur next post would be the 3333th.
