Q:

Extreme Benchrest 2014

Anyone see any results yet? I was looking at Alvaro’s Facebook posts and it looked like an upset with the old guys sliding a bit on preliminary scores. :biggrinn:

Two of Álvaro’s posts from yesterday. (translated from Spanish)
“News of the last hour that did not win because I only got 227 items and SR. Chris Warwick did 235 so that I do not have the possibility that what if I never imagined that Ted, just do 216 points so that you already know”

“A friend already, the result of the bench rest won Tim McMurray hit fighting place, Chris Warwick 2, 3, a place I do not remember me and 4to. So there you are the results it will be official tomorrow I think”

One of the main reasons I went and got the 25 cricket was for better wind resistance, but it seems that both need about the same hold over. I have not done any scientific tests but if there would be a bigger differance I would have noticed. Had a good chance last Saturday. Was shooting in a stiff side wind 50 yard shots needed 1 mil hold over and 70 yarders needed 2 mil hold over. Would have been nice to try them both side by side. I never take both guns with me. Never know……..

It should be. The Ballistic Coefficient is higher and less susceptible to drag. It’s actually a big improvement to go 30 cal.

One reason is most of the guns were .30 and they seem to have an advantage (maybe 90% ?). The .357 Cricket’s may have a shot at it.

I’m kind of curious what you guys think why there are only a few crickets in the xtreme benchrest. I can maybe understand the Bullpups not being as common as the rifle but even they didn’t litter the line up. Are these guys the type that would have a gun and only use that for paper punching . In the end if it’s windy anything can happen so there are many variables involved other than the gun itself.

I understand your “settling for less” it is a cricket after all…

He would have taken an EdGun but it was out of order and he’s still waiting for spares. Being waiting for four months now so he was forced to take something else instead. πŸ˜‰

An Edgun is in the pipeline for me and will be eager to test it once I get my hand on it. It would be a 25 though as I have enough 22s so a fair 1-1 comparison wont be possible. The parts issue is a concern to me but I don’t play with my guns internals as much as you guys do so hopefully I have less chance of breaking things πŸ™‚

So… iam happy to not suppose to shot only in shooting ranges and being disturb by other shooters. . This is why I said maybe not… :geekn:

I did all my groups at backyards and uncomfortable places not in the special shooting range. .. we don’t have special shooting ranges here in this oily country. .. πŸ™
otherwise I may able to get better results. ..or maybe not. ..who knows? ?

Brother Hemn,

I actually prefer not to do it in a shooting range and find them the least comfortable and constrains me a lot for airgun shooting. But unfortunately I have no open space to shoot at except where I go hunting and the wind is very gusty there typically. The thing with indoor shooting ranges is that I like them for my handguns shooting but hate them for airgun shooting. I am usually setting between two shooters 3 feet apart with their texas size caliber guns firing every few seconds and not only killing my concentration but even shaking the connected shooting platform. I have to time the seconds between their shots to make my shot in rush! Very disturbing indeed but have no choice. Folks get interested though in what the heck am I shooting :). Outdoor shooting ranges are better and more isolated in term of shooting platform and further apart. But then there is the wind issue. So you probably not missing much πŸ™‚
