Ok so I crono my gun last week. I filled to 210 bar, my 1st shot was 840, 482, 891 845 then 530. Next 10 shots were 912 to 919 then back down to 840, 855,861 then back up to 913 to 919. After shot # 25 string stayed at 912 to 919 all the way to shot # 77. So today I tried again but with a 200 bar fill. 913 to 920 and several in the 530 to 620 range. Then back up again. Is it a bad reg? Or is it set to a lower bar? Maybe it’s Villes scope that has it shooting this way……

I was having the same issues as Zonk. It is currently with Ernest being shipped back today. He lowered the reg from 140 to 120. Getting 57 shots from 200 bar fill down to 105. The shots are more consistent although he didn’t notice big drops in fps like I did. I was shooting 926 fps at 220 fill. It was good for about 5 shots then it would dip down to 826 and eventually leveling off around 860. After it dropped off the reg it jumped to 950’s. I’ve never seen anything like this shooting my other guns. The best that Ernest could do with this gun was get it within 10 fps ES. Although the mag loading was a hassle, I am regretting selling the .22 Cricket. That thing was seriously a great consistent gun. I would blame my Vulcan as a dud but seems like there’s plenty of others out there with the same issues. Not just the .22 either. Hoping this will be the last time this gun gets sent to Ernest.

It’s got me wondering also Ville. Maybe just maybe the reg is set to high.
to test if it is the regulator leaking, you fill your cylinder only slightly above where the reg comes off not to 250 or so, if you can shoot without big power drops.
does the problem happen when the cylinder is full?
setting the reg too high will put lot of strain on the hammer/valve/springs and excess wear. and shotcount is low because all the air in the cylinder under 140 is waste unused. drop it to 100 it will be still fine power wise. not even 120. so clockwise quarteer/ half turn make the reg shorter around 71.5-72mm in length. AND much less hammer preload. your gun will last longer.
having said that, i have never seen the valve seal/pin on these Vulcans.
I agree many points above. What i don’t understand is why there seem to be several Vulcs with weird , changing velocity. 100 fps change is wayyy too much. What the hell is going on ? Mine shoots like the fine precision instrument it’s always been.
I haven’t shot it in ages now but took it with me to the range. The first shot , and on , it was right on the spot and kept hitting the small spinner (25mm) we have at 82m.
I had so much fun with it i’ll start shooting PCP again.
low power Is usually when the regulator fails to regulate, so all the cylinder full pressure makes it past the reg into the spacer, firing valve area, and the hammer cant knock the valve open.

you can try to replace the hammer spring, or cut it shorter a bit, I would also inspect the valve return spring, if it is not collapsed or something. but this involves lot of tinkering

My .22 Vulcan apparently has a regulator set above 140 BAR so maybe my problems are caused from shooting it below 140 BAR when it is supposed to be useable to 120 BAR. After I shot a full load string down to approximately 118 BAR I started having erratic 100 fps high velocities.
With AT’s stock shortages and other shutdowns for holiday earlier this year I’ thinking they temporarily lost control of quality.
Maybe some .22s got .25 or even .177 parts ❓ ❓ ❓
This morning I decided to crono again as it’s very calm and a sunny morning. My 1st shot was 907 fps and my 2nd shot was 807 fps. I thought WTF has happened?? So I sot 2 more mags and the same thing 907 down to 800 fps then back up into the low 900s. At first I thought it was the grommets so I removed them and it shot the same. 907 down to 800 fps, most shots were in the low 800s….. Maybe I should have gotten a .25 cal……..I love this gun but just can’t get it to shoot consistent.

Zonk you have very good consistency!! Similar as my cricket. When I have fully filled the gun to 200bar besides 4 days first shot is 268mps (880fps) and all string is 268-267-266-268 etc so I have no reg leaking.

Ville at least mine is now shooting consistent. My shot string looked very good and accuracy is spot on.
Mine is set at 120 from the get-go …
I think is good Ernest set the regulator to 120bar. 130bar is slightly high. 😉

I wonder if some of these guns have bad regulators. I know Evengy switched suppliers because of poor quality. The exact same problem with your Vulcan I had with my Lelya. Exact. It would do the same thing and it was jumping 80 fps. I replaced the O rings and cleaned the regulator and the problem has mostly gone away. I still have an ES higher than I would like. I need a sleeve for the regulator tester as it’s not the same size as the Matador. I too wonder if the regulator was set to high.
