Q:

Airmax PCP Pistol

Mine showed today took a couple shots JSB 8.44 736/736 right out of the box. Trigger stinks, seems long and gritty. Going to need a trigger block either that or degass it. Didn’t realize my finger and thumb was so fat. Has a good solid feel and fairly loud. Not going to mess with it right now.
So what’s everyone planning for sights on this?

Ok going to try and make trigger some what better. Recipe mineral oil & 50,000 mesh diamond compound.

Thanks Cricket. 1st shot 579.8 H&N19.19 14 fpe. 34F outside. Looks 16mpa in the tank. I noticed a fairly hard pulling trigger at that hammer setting.

Looking good man

Ok so I converted my .177 to .25 over the weekend. Does anybody know where I can get a quality barrel/ ldc x20 adapter. New barrel is marauder.25 so it’s .500 OD.

Thanks guys. Yeah Daryl I left the trigger for last. So far I just pulled all the parts and hit them on grinder with a felt buff and grey diamond polish bar. Took out most the grittiness feel when pulling the trigger. Still feels a little heavy for this pistol.

Sweet!!!;-)

depending on how you want to tune it, the gun shoots very well. This spreadsheet shown in two parts gives some info from a test I did a while ago. I’m tending to use 16 and 18-grain pellets now just to gain that bit more stability. The only thing I regret about this pistol is that in replacing the grip so many times after tweaking the trigger I’ve somehow created a wobble in the grip when I handle it, That wobble is non-existent when I’m holding it to shoot. One day I’ll have to sort that out. I’ve thought to drill the grip where I need to insert the hex wrench to adjust the 2nd stage.

So the aluminum housing for the hammer spring that the pistol grip screws to. 2 of the long screws that hold it are stripped out. Has anyone else had this problem?

With the fall of the Ataman Pistol, This pistol is looking better and better,
I am sure we can get the 22 shooting in the 600 fps range pretty easy.
Rattle snake season is almost over and I did not get to go hunting even once, Did kill five in the back yard with the Mighty P 17 , Head shoots do not want to mess the skins up.

Mines been setting since I bought it. I shot bout 20 pellets and it just to loud for my liking. I’m enjoying my mutants. I’m getting ready to sell my Airmax pistol and rifle. Just not interested in them anymore.

Depending on your requirements the pistol can be made more quiet by lowering the power. It doesn’t take much power to knock off birds, and the pistol is Sparrow accurate at 30 yards. I have the .22, and it seems not to be very pellet picky though it groups AA 18-grain and 16 grain a bit better than the JSB equivalent. ymmv of course.
