:hoot:
I strongly suggest holding off on ordering, until I can report further developments.
My order arrived yesterday (Friday 10/21/17). I got quite a surprise…and it wasn’t shipping related.
I will explain more later! For now…patience. I want to give Michal every reasonable opportunity to respond to the email and pics I sent him yesterday. His customer support has been extremely courteous and timely up to now. Whatever happens, it will be informative and interesting about ordering stocks from Poland, and how well they stand behind their product.

:hoot: , I will take the old stock off your hands that you mutilated…once you get in the new one.

UPDATE:
Michal is doing everything he can to make this transaction good. He’s building a new stock for me, and is a solid seller who stands behind his work. I have no complaints. Sometimes wood does it’s own thing over time and no one can control that! It was just a premium piece of Walnut that decided to crack when it dried over time. Nobody’s fault. It was supposed to be 4% moisture when Michal received it and it should not have done what it did.
Hoot:
I’d like a picture of how it looks like now. Try to get some sunlight on it, makes a huge difference when taking Pictures.

Dear Forum Swine…
Here is a picture of the less expensive ($50) sliding butt plate:

This plate has one screw to loosen to slide the outer plate up or down. No so fancy, but fully functional. I believe the one above costs around $150 or so…I’m guessing, but perhaps someone can give us a correct figure.
As for the stock replacement, let’s remember I put several hours of work into the original stock. I stained it dark Walnut, boiled linseed oil 10 coats or so, letting it dry between coats, then I put a thin polyurethane coat over that.
The butt stock crack would fill, but not disappear. I stained it a bit darker…not perfect but not a total disaster either.
Hoot:
He does.
Adjustable upp, down, angle sideways, adjustable Wings. Approved measurements for FT and HFT. He just needs the measurements to fit it.
What exactly are you waiting for then? You started this thread because you wanted a replacement stock that was flawless right? Worse case scenario is he sends you another cracked stock.
This just my :2cents: .
Letting Michal send a new stock (presumably for free, shipping included) is doing him a favor because it lets Michal show that he stands behind his products and will make it right. In some way, it is like not-so-free advertisement (at the cost of making a new stock and shipping). Needless to mention, if :hoot: receives the new stock and show us pictures of it, Michal is getting the publicity and potentially new business. Uncle Hoot can, then, decide whether to sell the fixed one, send it back to Michal or keep it. As long as Michal gets it right this time, it is a win-win situation for both Uncle Hoot and Michal.
Declining Michal’s offer denies Michal an opportunity to prove himself. Assuming Michal would have sent a stock that represents the expected quality, this is a lose-lose situation compared to letting Michal send a replacement.
I personally have no interest in getting a fancy stock for my mutant. However, if Michal is to sell a custom adjustable (height and cant angle) butt plate that installs easily on a stock Mutant stock, I may show some interest!
Just do it. 😛 He will make sure the next one is perfect.

Dear Forum Mutants…
Michal has emailed me and offered to make me a new stock. He came across our remarks and despite his poor English, he understands I’m not satisfied and he wants to make it right. He said he never thought I’d have a problem with the cracks in the stock (???)
I have two options:
1) take him up on the offer and sell my current stock, sending the proceeds to him as repayment for his effort.
2) just keep what I have because it works, looks ok, and thank him for the offer.
I want to be fair to the guy! But that $300+ for the stock was painful to part with…thank god Congress gave me a $3.50 a month increase in my Social Security check (I hope they all burn in hell…in flames fed by $100 bills…thieving bastards)
So, I will ponder his offer before making any rash decisions…
Hoot:
Very nice. You should be making our stocks. lol
All my instruments are flawlessly built to the naked eye can see with a lifetime warrantee.
I process (gathering/cutting/veneering and drying) most of the instrument grade Koa myself, just the cutting/milling alone is an occupation in itself and most builders don’t like and have anytime or interest in being a sawyer too.
In the many hundreds that I’ve built/sold over the 17 years in business, I’m very prideful in saying that till this date I had no returns or failures within my craftsmanship !
Sorry, Japan sale only ……… thanks for l@@king.

that looks remarkably like me :suprisedn:

Angry, and full of jealousy, “Tbear” and “Elmerfudd” sign off the ‘net, fall asleep, and dream of Uncle Hoot’s walnut stock…

Hoot:
MY last 2 cents on this matter . GKU , Thank You , you seem to be the only person who understood the point that I was trying
to make about selling a finished product that had flaws in it that should never have been sold or sent to a buyer . All buyers
of any product expect to get that product as 100% true as paid for .
