Q:

177 Vulcan 2 update

Still getting used to to front lever cocking, Is it better than the rear lever cocking No just different, Now if you shoot a Mutant/Veteran , Cricket Your spoiled on the magazine loading , The Vulcan you have to spin and load it one at a time. Sucks when you been spoiled, I been shooting the 177 JSB 13.43gr pellets and shot count is way up there, I never let the gun go below 150 bar and never fill above 220 bar , I call this gun shoot a lot fill every once in a while ,  Sparrows just aim and shoot, Euro doves you better place your shot to the head or a good heart/lung shot or the bird is taking off,
Still have not taken it past 48 yards , It will stack pellets easy,
Makes me wonder why the 177 lost favor with the US market, bigger is not always better,

sounds like you have too much preload. you want to be just under max fps with the hst, i am talking air consumption. if you dont care, thats fine
at some point i had 3 different lenght springs from Evgeniy, plus you can turn the adjuster or shim it whatever.

Mike , if I back my adjuster out it will lower my FPS by about 30 FPS. Right now I have it screwed in to 915 FPS and it shoots awesome right there. When I got it, I took the spring out along with the hammer that hits the valve, and I polished the hammer. Lubed all the internal moving parts and reassembled. Next step is to lapp the barrel so cleaning will be easier.

Your manual say anything about your HST adjuster? Mine says zip,
Hell I shoot from 8gr to 13.43 gr pellets if I try the 15gr slugs out I may screw around with the HST,
My V2 shoots so many pellets so good I have not adjusted anything, But I need to check the FPS out with a few pellets .
I will put it on my to do list,
In the mean time let me know how your HST power adjuster is working.

177 polymag 8gr regular pellets, wadcutters jsb match blue diabolo s 100 heavy weight 8,26 gr,……..
The 10gr and 13.43 gr dome pellets just do not seem to release enough energy in the bird more clean pass through, even the pellet is not deformed like the wad cutters and polymags.
I clean and check for a entrance and exit holes in all euro Doves I shoot before feeding to my pets,I think the wad cutters are made from very soft lead.
still have not stretched the Vulcan 177 passed 48 yards and not tried the NSA 15.5 gr slugs , Hell being retired seems like I had more time when I worked 40 hours a week, Hint, NO alarm clock, I wake up when i get up.

Mike, what diameter exactly, where i buy the match diabolos, the wadcutters come in 3 sizes, 3 weights and 3 sizes. what is on your tin?

My V2 has a HST power adjuster from the rear, but it’s a .25 cal.

V2 has no power adjuster,
Not sure about adjusting the main spring like the Cricket from the rear?
Mike

Hummm says new external power adjuster.

Does the V2 have a power adjuster?

Birdman I do not see the 8gr pellets doing much past the 48 yards, I would like to try and see what they do, And any thing past my 13,43 gr Jsb monsters might as well pick up a 22 or a 25 Caliber, But the 177 gun is fun to test to its limits due to its high shot count.

Regulator settings is unknown to me , I have tested the 10.34 gr domes at 962 FPS when I first got the gun.
I am running a Athlon BTR 6×24-50 FFP scope on the Vulcan, Love the scope. I also have installed a 25 MOA insert on my scope rail that gives me a lot of range if I ever need it ,
For my needs I think the 177 is more of a sparrow caliber for my needs , Now I do take a few euro doves with it but pellet and shot placement is the key,

I been having the exact same “problem” for the past 3 years……..ain’t it great. I do set the alarm on Hunting and Fishing days though…..

How fast you shooting the 10.3 domes? Any idea what the reg set on that V2? I can’t bring myself to shoot sparrows with 13.3 that’s :2cents: :2cents:.

iride , the wadcutter pellets were only designed for 30 yds. max killing power , do not expect better than the 48 yds. you are now getting .
Consider yourself lucky that you can make kills at 48 yds. with them . If you can get better than 48 yds. consider yourself blessed , you
have already beaten the design performance distance that they were designed for .

glad to hear the polymags work for you too, are these the shorts or regulars? i will have to try the wadcutters too, those make whistling noise in .22(other gun) as if you were flinging cubes, not surpriced looking at the shape lol

what is the size of those heavies? they come in too many sizes i checked.
