Q:

Shroud I machined

I had a shroud/baffle idea I wanted to try and I received the 6061 from McMaster yesterday; here’s what I came up with. The inside of the tubing & baffles are machined for an interference fit, pressed together and held with retaining compound. The “crown” area is machined into the back side of the fat baffle, and the other end is machined for a perfect slip fit into my gun. The blue piece is just a pipe I turned down the O.D. and squared up the end real quick to use as a tool to press the baffles in place to different depths.

If I’m happy with how it works, I’ll probably paint it with some Aluma-Hyde after this weekend. I haven’t even had a chance to try it yet. I’ll get some pictues on the gun later, it only extends out from the frame 10″.

Very nice work metal, I’m always amazed at what those with the talent can do with metal.

I have a GTBJ shroud and absolutely LOVE it,perhaps I’ll be looking into one for my other Condor if your willing to make them.I’d be looking for one without the black finish (Sort of changes up the look a bit).
Keep up the GREAT job,and let me know about ordering!!

Eric I think I love no not you sorry your work! looks great you can tell you took the time to make it right!

Thanks Eddie! Between my breech & shroud your my biggest fan 😆

I wish I could get a decent video up to show you guys how effective the shroud is but my video camera doesn’t do it justice. I’m very happy with the compromise of sound reduction to overall length the shroud gave me while still allowing for my 24″ barrel.

So I see it togehter pull the trigger quite? I am sure I do like the length all of them I have seen I think were longer

Sweet!!! 😀

Well if you’re serious about wanting the shroud, bushings, and breech maybe we could work something out on a trade. I still need to work a few kinks out with o-ring sizing, etc. but the hard part is done.

If you’re interested P.M. me with what else you’d need to get for your scope. The eye relief shouldn’t bother me as much as I don’t do much hunting where I need to make quick shots.

tell ya what, don’t really like the MTC Viper, really hard to get a good veiw through it. I have it on Med. droop rings from Tim @ Mac-1.
I have a tri-rail, but I prefer the Nikko over the MTC.
If ya don’t look through it just right it is all jacked.
Maybe that is a good thing, I don’t know.
The rectile is awesome, and when you get a clear view, well nothing beats it.
Also, very heavy, I already have all kinds of shit hanging from my gun and the scope just adds to it.
So, on that note, I might have to sell the bad boy 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄
I believe it is in good shape, just a matter of proper height.

Thanks Saw!

When are you going to do that review on the MTC Viper you promised lol. I’m wanting a scope in that price range and I’m looking at the Viper and the Millett TRS-1.

Alright I removed the old videos as I tore down the shroud and changed the baffles around a bit and it works even better now. I removed one of the baffles and moved the first one closer to the muzzle in order to spread them out a bit and have bigger air chambers between them. I now have three baffles + the end cap.

I also painted it up with some ceramic header paint from the auto parts store. I couldn’t justify spending $30 to have Aluma-Hyde primer & paint shipped from Brownells when that’s all I needed. The first coat got effed up and I had to blast it off and start over again and this stuff is pretty tough even before it had fully cured. We’ll see how it does in the long run. It kinda looks blotchy in the photos but that is just the crappy halogen track lighting in my apts.

I’ll try to get a better quality video up this weekend. See the mods section for the Aluminum breech I made as well.
