Q:

1st Rogue in…….NOT GOOD

If you haven’t seen it over on the Yellow, the 1st Rogue experience is not a good one.

I have to say that even today, i am still amazed at how folks will DEFEND a gun that doesn’t shoot well and its manufacturer. Were is the FIGHT in all of us anymore? Everyone is telling the guy to send the gun back to Crosman and Crosman will make it right. Am i the only IDIOT who still beieves in the simple principle that if they don’t get it right the first time then why give them a second one. For 1300-1500 bucks, 25 bucks for 25 bullets, and a shit load of HYPE, if i got results like what that guy got, Crosman would receive a RETURN package from me alright, but my Rogue would not be in it…lol. It just amazes me how folks get crap and all anyone can say is, “they’ll do you right, send it back”. It cost time and money to ship a gun “ONCE PAID FOR” back for repairs or service that it SHOULD NOT NEED in the first place. Trust me, i know that if i DO NOT know how to work on airguns, then i have no choice but to return it but this is simply BULLSHIT.

I guess my attitude comes from having one too many AIRguns that cost a ton of money have issues from the jump. BB guns simply COST waaayyy to fucking much money for what they are and for the problems they have to exist when NEW.

AM I THE ONLY ONE?

quote keith2324:

People have been bashing this gun before it even came out. Now one guy posts something negative and the entire world is in uproar.

The rifle has shipped and THE ONLY review has been negative now that the rifle is in the hands of people that actually paid top dollar for it.

THAT SAYS IT ALL FOR ME…

WHERE ARE THE REVIEWS FROM THE OTHERS???!!!

Crickets is all I am hearing…

Not reviews that match the one rifle that was tested…

For an air rifle that costs $1500 I don’t expect anything but excellence and accuracy. This price range is the upper crust of air rifles.

THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR SHIT AT THAT PRICE PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Either the factory makes SURE the rifle works well or DON’T SELL HIGH PRICED ITEMS.

Apparently that’s too much ask these days. 🙄

But hey if you get people to expect less than quality products I guess you can get away with selling crap at $1500 a shot… 😉

I can get a a sweet tackdriver pb rifle for $1500 that will shoot sub 1/2″ groups at 100 yards right out of the box all day without fail. The person who makes it makes sure it works before it ships. It’s called integrity and respect for the person plunking down a decent pile of cash for a quality product. Something the maker of the Rogue doesn’t understand or care to even try to understand apparently.

I saw that on the Yellow. I saw that your posted and removed your post and all i could do was to fill my mind with words that i thought you might have said…lol

Crosman……SIMPLE SOLUTION…..instead of trying to make cheap guns to keep EVERYONE HAPPY, do like EVERYBODY ELSE…build the best gun you can and no matter the caliber…….USE A LW BARREL then charge accordingly. While i don’t really wanna see prices go up on CROSMAN guns, some of them could cause people seem to be able to afford anything these days. I mean, they buy a Maurader or Prod then they buy a LW barrel and have it fitted to the gun. So thats 500 bucks for a MROD then the cost of the scope then 120 bucks for a LW22 barrel then the cost of shipping to a gunsmith then the cost of machining and fitting the barrel (another 100-200 bucks). So why not install the proper barrel (bsa, lw, weirach…etc..etc) and charge accordingly. Trust me, if its all that, folks will find away to spend an extra 150 bucks.

Now as far as that guy over on the YELLOW, i was done when one of the guys told him:

“You saw black dirt out a new barrel and you stopped cleaning? Go back and stroke it till its clean.
Could take 30 patches
Pls get serious if you want good groups, you need to be meticulous.

Is the Scope aligned properly with the barrel? you need to get two small levels to do this;
at 40 yds the arc caused by gravity coupled w/ out of alignment scopes will corkscrew the pill & widen groups over an inch at 40yds.

Is your bench rest steady? i mean rock solid. If not your groups will suffer.
When trying shoot MOA at 40-50yds, everything matters.

16 pellets from a fill is standard on the .25. With the reservoir extension you get another magazine plus before 2000psi.
with an extension and a sprag debouncer you should get over 4 mags.”

I mean SERIOUSLY? I have to do all that to shoot a sub 1″ group at 40 yrds consistently? I don’t even have to do that at 60 yards while shooting off a bi pod and my trucks tailgate.

Sorry, but if i were Crosman and i read that someone told somebody else that to shoot MY PRODUCT accurately they had to do all of the above, i would be livid and i would have to take a deeper look into my product.

Again RC, they are blaming the guy shooting the gun and not the gun.,……WOW…you were right. the only good advice is to clean the new barrel

I could not resist posting about the guys gun on the Yelolw, now I will get jumjped on by all the Crosman lovers.

But someone needs to tell him what is going on.

Another poor guy on the Yellow, bought a Mrod that shoots like shit and wants to know if he has a bad barrel.

All sorts of encouragement from the Crosman lovers.

I posted something witty and removed it, he has enough problems with the simple fact he bought one.

But this is the sort of thing I have been refering to.

Some of those guys over there have never met a Crosman they didn’t like, I have never met one I trust.

My first two guns were Crosmans, a 101 and a Ted Williams 150, I loved them but considered them underpowered as a 10 to 12 year old.

When I got back into this air gun thing again I bought and restored a 101 and a 150, they shot better than my first ones, or I learned more about shooting in 50 years.

Then I played with the 2240’s and quickly learned if you stripped everything Crosman off them you could and replaced them with custom parts, they were much better guns.

So we have a skilled member here who replaces Mrod barrels and is doing a land office business on them, and then another “Mrod smith”on the Yellow, Greg Davis, who is so buried his cascadingly impatient customers wonder if he is still alive, all this commerce just to get one model to shoot well.

These guns seem to be great mechanically, but have sewer pipes for barrels, were not the Green Mountain barrels going to fix this?

Ruger did this in the late 60’s and early 70’s with the Number one and the 77. They used Wilson barrels, which are super cheap barrels, and then used the same reamer until it, the reamer broke in the barrel, then they threw that barrel in the trash. As a result early Rugers are another crap shoot as far as accuracy, shame, they are some of the finest handling and nicest looking arms of the 20th century. The Ruger Mini 14 however was doomed from the start as far as accuracy, the barrel clamp over the gas port strangles the barrel diameter form .224 to .222, then the bullet rattles down the last 6 or 8 inches of barrel.

When I had a Ruger 77 or a #1 I liked, I just had it rebarreled with a Douglas Air Gauge barrel, back in those days that set you back $200.00 for the barrel and work. CZ

Chinese copined the Bruno 22, the same 452 American we all love in the late 80’s and 90’s, I bought one for myself and each of my kids, they were tack drivers, but you had to go thru the boxes of them to find one that had a straight reciever, the scope mount bases were crooked.

Same thing with S&W during the 80’s they produced revolvers that the barrels were crooked in the frame, as a result at 25 yards they shot several feet to the side, S&W would put the returned ones on two peices of babit and whack them with a third to straighten them, they knew, like Crosman does, that most will not put them on paper to see how truely bad they were/are.

I once bought two consecutive numbered S&W Russian 44 Russian Uberti clones, now Uberti made some of the Colt 3rd generations guns, so they know their stuff. One of mine only had rifleing on one side of the barrel for the first 1.5 inches.

But then the US Marines sent my son to the Sand Box with a M16 that with the issued body armor you could not see thru the Acog optics to aim the gun. He had delivered to him in Iraq, thru me from Brownells, 8 collaspable stocks to replace the fixed stocks, so they could shorten them and see thru their scopes.

The corp threw a fit, took his squad away, but he kept his stock and got another squad.

So screwy gun shit happens, this Crosman barrel thing is just another example. If you want a Crosman “Rod” to shoot, it seems you must be prepared to rebarrel it with a LW barrel. Which I of course have had issues with also.

Yeah, just about sick and tired of people with these half post.

“Hey….i bought a so and so 3000 dollar gun. It will be here next week, i can’t wait as i’m sure its gonna be GREAT”

Then they get the gun with ONLY so so results and …………………..

NEVER TO BE SEEN OR HEARD FROM AGAIN, or they claim the infamous, “BEEN BUSY AT WORK”. Well, you werent too busy to post that you were getting a 3000 dollar gun

Were is JC?

Hopefully he will respond either today or tomorrow. Hopefully he has taken a closer look at the gun and found a solution to his problems.

I still haven’t seen anything like answers to Ced’s questions and advice. If that fellow spent all day shooting a gun that was clipping the whole time, he hasn’t told us anything other than we should look for shroud shift out of the box.

Once bought a crosman, never will buy another one!

Accuracy and quality control SUCKED.. Even for the buks!

Keith,

Yes I am hot about this, and yes I do not know you.

But don’t be naive enough to tell me that Crosman does not know they have a barrel problem, it has been going on for at least two years, and it is a weekly thing on the Yellow for complainers, who know how to shoot and know how to tune a air rifle, and they still can’t get them to shoot.

It is becoming accepted knowledge that you either get a sterling shooter, which is most of the time, or you get a gun that shoots like shit and you will know within an hour whch it is.

Again if it is good it shoots great, and there are lots of poeple reading this who have them, and lots who have tried them and could not get them to shoot.

Crosman is making money off cheap barrels and the fact that most people do not check their guns for accuracy, they shoot cans and boxes in the back yard, so most never know.

But I have to tell you, if I paid 500 bucks for a Mrod and it shot like shit with a 300 dollar scope on it, and if I had worked on it for a week trying different pellets and cleaning barrels and checking shrouds and baffels and leads, then someone got in my face and told me it was due to my ignorance, they damn well better tell me by phone or online for their personal safely.

But the thing is, Crosman knows the problem exists, they outsource to China, our commercial and idealogical enemy and at the same time cost americans jobs, and again they know there is a problem, that to me is dishonest and a double fucking to the american public.

Add to that the want a be gun writers who, who get the protypes and never see a bad gun, but see lots of hunts at fenced gave preserves or expence paid trips to the Dakotas after praire dogs, spewing out hype and then remaining strangely quiet or worse yet whoring themselves to protect a flawed product when the subject comes up.

So no I will not invest in Crosmans products, I would love to and I would love to have the confidence that when I buy american I am getting a good product, but I do not have that confidence Keith.

But I hope someday I will.

If I hurt your feelings I am sorry, but by the way you have been regestered here a couple years, why three posts? We should hear from you more.

Regards,

Roachcreek

Wow Roachcreek. That is saying a lot for a person who doesn’t even know me. But my standby line is this. See below.

Keith,

That is pure bullshit.

I have been hearing for two years now about Crosman being such a wonderful company and every week there are one or two who have Prods or Mrods that group like shotguns.

They put out inconsistant quality on their barrels, knowing full well most shooters will not bench them to see what kind of accuracy they really produce, and take the money to the bank.

It is a crap shoot with both of those guns on whether they will shoot or not, and people that keep kissing their ass keep them from fixing the problem and that would be you Keith.

All these guys with problems are swept under the rug in the guise of not knowing what they are doing and that is an injustice to some good shooters.

And now they want us to buy a $1500.00 rifle with a computer in it when they cant get 25% of there flagship rifles to shoot.

I repeat the Rogue is the answer to a question not asked, it took the airgun community by surprise because no one asked for it.

Shame on Crosman.

Regrards,

Roachcreek

or implying you bashed the Rogue. I was merely saying we have a tendency to just pick up on the first negative thing we hear and run with it. Thank God that is not always the case because we would never get anywhere in life. These forums are for education, a knowledge base and a common love of airguns. I just think some people forget that and want to bash anything they don’t like.

I have been a member of a lot of other forums. I happen to have a BigDog Chopper. One forum in particular, if you don’t ride a chopper, you might as well not even try to post anything. These same people forgot that it’s the freedom of being on the open road that made us purchase a motorcycle in the first place. It shouldn’t matter what you ride.

As with this forum, it shouldn’t matter what we all shoot. If someone is having a problem, whether it be a leak, bad scope, etc., lets try to help that person out.

I apologize for the length of this post. But I just want to see more positive things on these boards. Lets all enjoy what the good Lord has blessed us with.

Keith.

I don’t think he’s a troll, his post was just of similar quality…

I think it’s my military background coming through that makes me supicious of thin, early reports with no substantiation. In my experience, the first report is always wrong, the news is better or worse but never as first reported…

Keith. Not saying this is what you ARE saying but, I never bashed the Rogue even before it came out. I was one of 2 or 3 guys that had high hopes for it. Simply go back and read any post about the Rogue with me in it and look at what i said. I always posted high hopes for the advancement of the future of airgun technology.

Part of my issue is yes, all AIRGUNS usually have some NEW fault. BUT WHY IS THAT ACCEPTABLE? Everyone seems to care LESS about some guys 1300 bucks and they care MORE about CROSMANS reputation. Don’t forget also that CHIP from CROSMAN actually logged onto the forum a few times to push the upcoming ROGUE. And this is what we get. Everyone looked forward to the FIRST word and now that its here, “oh well, thats a fluke, lets look forward to the future post about OTHER Rogues”…lol. Peoples mentalities are so fucked up. Send it back to Crosman and they will make it right……..ThATS NOT THE POINT.

Don’t forget……1st IMPRESSIONS are what folks remember most….just sayin.

Jerry, if he is a troll or whatever then hey…we were all fooled. His lack of info to me just shows how disqusted he is. At least to me it does. But yeah, don’t quite understand why when i suggest something it got ignored. Who knows, maybe he has tried it to no avail and is too disgusted to post anymore…..we will see.

I’ve heard about a number of LW barrels that were crap. I suspect that vast majority are good but even LW has had quality escapes.

Why doesn’t Crosman use LW barrels? … I’ll stick with my AF guns – they shoot great.
