257 Cast Bullet Convesation
Here’s a strange question- these TJ barrel liners- are they okay to be used as is? or do they need to be sleeved? Just wondering.

Lets talk about tethering… I’m thinking of running one of those Catalina 53 ci tanks thats only slightly bigger than the stock tank, but is 4500 psi. Now, could I run that in conjunction to a 80 ci 4500 psi tethered tank? What should the output of the 80/4500 be? Does anyone make a custom remote line for this? I kind of want to keep it tethered in the field and I’m not sure if I trust a 4500 psi paintball remote to do the job. Thoughts?
I have taken rifle and fill tank outside so that both my tank pressures would be consistant. Makes for a killer shot string when you go from 75 inside. To 105 outside. 🙂
That is when fill tank inside is way cooler than gun tank outside . Not so good for consistency 😐
Thanks for all the responses guys I’m still chewing on the idea I have .25 and never get to shoot it because of work and when I’m off in winter it is so friking cold I loose psi as soon as I walk out the door

Im running mine with the stock tank and Mad Dog config. It has a 30.5″ barrel 1 in 14. Doug built the hammer, valve and “e tac” valve housing with quick fill and pressure gauge. I can even spin the tank off of the rifle because I notched out the stock to clear the fill nipple when spinning.
On a 3200 psi SP with 74 gr lymans I get around 8 to ten usable shots before a big drop off. Now if I am trying to shoot for groups I simply tether to my larger 4500 psi carbon fiber and run 3200 psi for each shot. But I have noticed when playing around that taking five shots not tethered does not change my POI.
Should be close to calling in some yotes. Waiting for the okay from a farmer here who has a bunch he wants gone. 🙂
that’s all I want the .257 for snipping yotes so don’t need a lot of shots and like you said if I wanted to bench shoot at paper I would tether to my scuba tank

Mike, I thought about that but that butt is so thin already under the tank. Perhaps if it is some kind of “hybrid” stock. You could run a piece of flat bar aluminum under the tank to keep it thin but rigid. Might be a good marriage: wood and aluminum! Not like it has not been done before.

Pan, a bigger tank would be a good move. I just have the stock tank. But the shot count is low. I am running a 21″ bbl. at 930 fps with the 80 gr. NOE flat point bullets. It is damed accurate!
I would like to go to a larger tank, but I wouldn’t be able to use the MadDog stock I have on it now. I do feel the MadDog stock helps with day to day consistency. I do not see the day to day poi change I and many others have seen over the years with our guns.
May be we can talk the other Doug, (maker of MadDog Stocks) to do up a special stock for a larger tank! 😀 :8:

Not sure yet I would like to put a 257 together don’t need more then 10-15 shots if you can’t kill something with that many rounds you shouldn’t hunt lol around a 24″ barrel as long as it groups well at 100 yards I would be happy I want it for coyotes

Depends on what you are trying to do and want to end up with.
Larger tank is best for higher power and more shots. You can make the same power but shot count is low with stock tank.
Longer barrel is best and helps make power at lower air consumption. 28″ is a good size.
What are you going to use for a valve?
