257 Cast Bullet Convesation
Here’s a strange question- these TJ barrel liners- are they okay to be used as is? or do they need to be sleeved? Just wondering.

good to go!!
Got it. I did a google search and found a listing in cast boolits forum regarding TJ. It had his address, phone, everything.
and I’m not sure if TJ are the guy’s initials, but if you do a search for “TJ barrel liner”, you’ll come up with something. You can get them from Track of the Wolf, but I think they’re cheaper if you just contact TJ’s. The last number I have for him is 859-635-5560. He doesn’t do internet sales- He’s also the supplier to Track of the Wolf.
What’s his username? And what’s TJ’s username? They aren’t coming up when doing a search.
Mischief,
It is the gent that has been answering your questions. Just click on his name to send a pm or get his e-mail
“Dyotat100”

I have a setup to check a regs output with a gauge that is +- .025%. If you want just send me a reg and I will set the pressure for you.
Okay cool- I was just about to ask you if you could do that… I’m getting one from JDS airman “set” for 3000 psi, and I’ll send it to you, it’ll be 4500 input. He doesn’t “set” his above 3k psi. Which one of your valves would I need again Dyotat? How much are they- and how much would it cost to set that JDS airman reg at 3200 psi? Again, basic set up would be 28″ barrel, 1:14 twist. I’ll be using bullets cast from the 257420 mold, and eventually a 257420 modified to hollowpoint mold.
If Doug has time? Let him build you one… 😆 But seriously, I’m learning too! basically you’ll need a TJ barrel liner, .250 bore, .257 groove. either 1:10 or 1:14 twist… depending on how high you want to shoot, and what weight bullets you’re using. One of Doug’s valves, and a bigger tank. Heavier hammer, and spring… after that it’s pretty much test and tune. Please correct me if I’m wrong guys! I need to know this stuff too!! 😀
Sorry guys, let me clarify. I’m reading this thread about a 257 cal air rifle shooting at accurate distances measured by 100’s of YDS rather than 25,50,75… I have an Edge that, at 10m and no wind correction needed, shoots a 1/4″ bull every time. I used to have 3 AF rifle at one time but had to change jobs and had to sell them. I had a Talon ss in 22, a talondor in 22 and a talondor in 25. They were all great guns! I think I’ve gone through almost 1000 of Jerry’s ringers. That was a couple of years ago and now I come back here and read about this 257 and all of the neat bullets everyone is casting.
I just purchased another Talon in 22 and am looking for a Condor/Talondor in 25.
What I’m curious of is “what exactly is required in order to build one of these 257 cal AF rifles that shoot ACCURATELY at 200yds or greater?
That is what I use. They are made in china and work good as long as you change the o rings and check the output pressure. Out of all the regs I have had only one has been set to what it was suppose to be. All others were higher than there were suppose to be.

Who’s regs did that guy send you? Just wondering- I only know of one person to get regs from, and from what I understand his stuff is pretty good… JDS airman.
Mischief… just what Dyotat said- what are you looking for? I haven’t built the body yet, it’s not going to look anything like the Remington MSR, more like a Eliseo rifle, but still very much AF… Again, nothing has been built yet. So what exactly are you looking for?
What are you wanting? You ask that question after a pic of a PB.
No one ever answered my question but judging from the replies here, they are up and running. I would like to get one. Who do I need to contact in order to get parts need and prices?? Thanks!
I would get a 3200 psi output. Only problem is I have never seen a reg set to what it is said to be. One member sent me his regs to set the pressure and the 4500/3000 out was like 3500 psi out. I set it to 3000 psi out.
Other problem is I have not yet seen one of the angle adapters yet. I will have a gun here soon that has one and see how my valve works in one. With the tank adapters I make(etac) it is a straight shot into the valve with a .406″ hole to feed the valve air. Not sure how deep the hole is for the valve and how the spring retainer ends up in relation to the air hole. Worst case is the valve might have to be shortened to bring the spring retainer back some.
