.30 STD. 245 bar to off the reg. 30 shots now !!
Here is my first string from my .30 Std. for comparison. I just got my chrony figured out this evening.
Reading down through and studying my #’s I think after some comments hopefully, am going to need to bring my reg. down a bit and see if it smooths out. I think less Regulator and more probably more HST will be needed to flatten the string. That’s from “0” experience other than reading this forum to learn, but either way I’ll turn it into practical application and find out if I’m right or not. unless otherwise advised. I am lost as to explaining the dip on #7 – #11 so i’m all ears on that. Also I was estimating that #26 bar reading since I shot to #28 and it was 115 when I looked. They drop like a rock when they fall off the reg. My gun has about 800 rds. thru. it so far. I am going to be filling to 230 bar and test at 240 while watching air consumption. I really want 27-28 shots, 25 clean and 2-3 sighters if I can figure it out the combination to do it, but a smooth string and best accuracy will dominate my criteria for adjusting things.

I don’t get no stinkin’ errors on my Gamma Master Chrony unless I try to use it in the dark w/o LED’s. 😛 The Oehler 35p is the best. My range has 3 of them. I was just too cheap.
I need to borrow a good chrono (read : NOT Chrony with it´s threaded reading “error” every third shot) from this guy since doing 55 or so shots with a Combro (take a shot, check the reading, write it down, zero the Combro fifty five times) is too much for lazy me. I rather live in ignorance than allow myself to sink to that level. 😀
I will ! I´m, for the first time actually , quite curious myself so i definitely will. Those 12 shots i did with that .7 mps (or a bit shy of 2.5 fps) made me want to know the truth out there.

I have a .22 bug string out here already and they are tighter than the Edguns regulators but not as efficient on air. Both guns are very very accurate.
The Combro better be perfect after my $75 investment.

I think airgunners are a bit too focused on the spread. Sure, a 18 or 25 grain pellet is more sensitive for effects on deviation flying at 900 fps than a 40gr bullet travelling at 1200 fps but then again – count the procentual difference in variation between those two (15 fps at 900 / 30 fps at 1000) and the spread an airgun has is minimal in comparison.
Fifteen feet/second is nothing ! Lob a Tennis Ball, very slowly, in a trashcan placed at 15 ft distance and that Ball will fly at the hair – rasing speed of +- 15 fps. Do you still think it much matters ??
That said i´ll soon do a string with my unbelievably spread-less Bug – just to piss you all off – so you all go bonkers trying to chase that extreme spread figure.
Or – i discover that my trusted Combro lied to me and the damned Roach spreads like there´s no tomorrow – in which case i´ll never speak the words “deviation” nor “extreme spread” ever again…

Your string right there ain’t nothing to shake a stick at. You will more than likely not even ever notice a POI drop out to 100 yards ++ Me myself tend to get a OCD complex going when i start tuning . My HMX holds 44 shots at 935 with a 8 FPS spread. …
Its been raining all day and normally squirrels don’t come into my yard but this morning i woke and i saw one (a fat fucker) out my window…. went for the condor but that little bug was gone before i got back to the window.
I am new to chrony so i can only go on what others claim of tighter spreads.
I sometimes get double that spread with Eley Match 22 LR ammo at 1000 fps and it is incredibly accurate.
No clipping, I just thought that the 15 ish FPS spread was a little wider that what might be possible. I am just gonna grub down the HST adjuster for now and shoot it. with this setup I think. I will tweak and swap out the original adjuster the next time it gets worked on, based on experience this week, the reg will only get 1/16 turn down at the most.
30 shots is really good…. and from that rise you noted there is still a shot or 2 left in her… I would nudge off a touch more on the regulator and then start backing of the HST. it doesn’t need much.. You are really close them last 4 shots are off the regulator. if you can bring them last 4 down to under 891 you would have a nice tight string. by no means is it all that bad now just think it can get better

I went back through my strings and I had to go back 80 shots to find one ERR , and that was due to alignment. Now that I know it is fairly foolproof. This is partly why I changed up my target tonight. It allows me to shoot the same spot every time and I can predict “0 ” failures. I got a ERR once in a while walking around on the target before by choosing a spot that did not align well. Once I dowel my chrony to my new wood top on the stable table. I will mark the front rest feet locations and I should be able to throw it all together in seconds with no alignment variation concerns or future errors. As long as it is just pellet guns, I don’t need to take the chrony and tripod anywhere but from the shelf to the table in 1 step and be ready to go or get it out of the way in seconds.
