.30 STD. 245 bar to off the reg. 30 shots now !!
Here is my first string from my .30 Std. for comparison. I just got my chrony figured out this evening.
Reading down through and studying my #’s I think after some comments hopefully, am going to need to bring my reg. down a bit and see if it smooths out. I think less Regulator and more probably more HST will be needed to flatten the string. That’s from “0” experience other than reading this forum to learn, but either way I’ll turn it into practical application and find out if I’m right or not. unless otherwise advised. I am lost as to explaining the dip on #7 – #11 so i’m all ears on that. Also I was estimating that #26 bar reading since I shot to #28 and it was 115 when I looked. They drop like a rock when they fall off the reg. My gun has about 800 rds. thru. it so far. I am going to be filling to 230 bar and test at 240 while watching air consumption. I really want 27-28 shots, 25 clean and 2-3 sighters if I can figure it out the combination to do it, but a smooth string and best accuracy will dominate my criteria for adjusting things.

Ok, last string before lowering reg. I may fill and run the HST up to see what the reg is at FPS wise as a Reference before changing. My little F8 compressor is getting a workout this weekend.
I´m no Veteran but for regular cleaning for an AG barrel i use these : http://20-20.8m.com/
I also use them on-the-range cleaning for powderburners. Together with VFG felts they make cleaning easy and even a complete moron would be hard stressed to be able to do any harm to the barrel/rifling.
I also have some Bore Snakes, in various calibers , but i remove those brass brushes from them. Easily done in five minutes. If you can roll a Condom on, you can peel the Snake over the Brush and Voilá !
I still prefer the Patchworm though. For serious cleaning i use ,again, VFG felts on an felt adapter from Brownells (you can stick in three felts after each other), an Ivy Rod and some JB Bore Paste = shiny barrel every time, no brushing required.
I strongly believe bronze/brass brushes aren´t for AG cleaning since there´s no baked powder residue nor brass imbedded in the rifling.
Also a good cleaning of the barrel should tighten it up ….. I noticed this on my .25 LW barrel
But your string doesn’t look bad at all..
The tightest groups is the real answer to your question but I would love 28 shots for the reason previously stated. I got to study and figure out how to best clean and care for the barrel as I am lost on that, I am sure it is well discussed here but I would sure like to hear some short blurbs of advice from the veterans here.
Looking Good… What velocity would you like to keep it at? I think your on the right track… once u bump it down a touch i think the string will smooth out. also regulator should settle some after u adjust it and flatten out. :7: :7: :7:

Ya, I’ll re-run my string this evening. When I looked at your thread I could see the missing data on mine was needed. 725 shots after looking at my tins.
Looks pretty good but we need the bar reading about every five shots. You can see the slight climb in velocity near the end. A chart would show it better. It looks to be set the same as mine by Ed. I am thinking that is 150 bar as he says in his video shot string of the Standard 30 but I really don’t know. I am thinking our regs are set a little high and the string can be flatter with a few more shots at a few less FPS. You have 800 shots on that gun already? Wow. The reg is pretty settled in at that point I would think. Ed tends to set the guns high he sends over here. I guess he thinks the US customers want power. 😯 If you do another string can you sstart at 240 bar and get a bar reading every five shots? 🙂
I think my reg is set about the same but the HST is a lit lower. I get about 27 shots from 220 down to 110 where mine falls off of the reg (I see some saying theirs are falling off of the reg at like 130 and 140?). I still see a rise in velocity at the end even though my avg velocity was about 870.

Just wonder if wait time in between shots has something to do with the velocity change?????
I remember a post where Ernest mentions this on a .30 Cricket. ( I know you have an Edgun, just thought it was an interesting note regarding big bore regulators)
