Q:

.30 STD. 245 bar to off the reg. 30 shots now !!

Here is my first string from my .30 Std. for comparison. I just got my chrony figured out this evening.

Reading down through and studying my #’s I think after some comments hopefully, am going to need to bring my reg. down a bit and see if it smooths out. I think less Regulator and more probably more HST will be needed to flatten the string. That’s from “0” experience other than reading this forum to learn, but either way I’ll turn it into practical application and find out if I’m right or not. unless otherwise advised. I am lost as to explaining the dip on #7 – #11 so i’m all ears on that. Also I was estimating that #26 bar reading since I shot to #28 and it was 115 when I looked. They drop like a rock when they fall off the reg. My gun has about 800 rds. thru. it so far. I am going to be filling to 230 bar and test at 240 while watching air consumption. I really want 27-28 shots, 25 clean and 2-3 sighters if I can figure it out the combination to do it, but a smooth string and best accuracy will dominate my criteria for adjusting things.

Are you saying accuracy is a problem? Is it clipping in the muffler? Pull off the cover and see if there are lead chips inside.

Now how do you tighten up the range, I’m lost on that. ……. I’m locking it down here for now 240 fills and going to get it outside and start running some lead through it at 50 and 75. Farther does not interest me other than just knowing my dope for an occasional shot at 100.

Help a poor brother out with an extreme spread problem. !!!

I can’t believe my life has come to having nooners with an Edgun….dam you Ed 🙂

It will settle down a bit once it gets shot more. With the amount of air the .30 cal is moving I think it is very good shot string.

Three of them are a slight rise at the end. Not enough to worry about.

I finally am getting to the goal or past it ?? 30 shots from 245 down to 134 . Now what causes those (5) randomly placed 895 to 897 shots ??

That is a good looking string you have there!

Those adapters are notorious for leaking… If you can hear a hiss it is leaking a bunch.

Hey Ride – did you buy any of these specialty tools for disassembling your 30 to adjust the regulator? I have a home made degasser for the Matadors but none of the other fancy stuff being sold on the forum.

I got Ernest Rowe’s de-gasser/puller, it is a snap the second time. It would of been the first time if I had of known to kind of help that o-ring as it tucked under the sharp edge on the last step before going into place. I cut an o-ring the first time. It was someone mentioned by Synopsis last evening but using calipers to measure the depth of the adjuster is a good deal, I am guesstimating again here but if kinda looked like every .001″ made a fps. I went from .181 to .191 to get my drop tonight. I have saw Ernest’s video and remember I saw him ref. I think it was .176 on the one he was working on so they must be fairly consistent in manufacturing. I am on his list for his reg setter and did not really think I needed it and maybe don’t but I would really like to be able to see what my exact bar setting is and record it in my log for each gun. I really believe that knowing that measurment for your gun will allow complete tear down and rebuild and getting it back where it was though. I just think we would pretty quickly generate a chart of X Bar = Y FPS in given guns and calibers and it would be helpful.

You know what, you may be right,… I noticed when I was filling last eve. I was getting a very small hiss again where my bssp and matador probe come together, I struggle to keep this union to sealed but thought I had it until I heard this again. It has the 3 washer deal Joe sells, but looks like there is a different seal deal that you can see on the outside more like a washer between. And pyramid sells a one piece inner seal thick washer too, I ordered the pyramid air male QD and seal combos today so maybe it will get better. I’ll time it next cycle too. I’m gonna back off the HST a bit and see if I can the the 28 good shots and at what fps next time.

I am filling to 4500.

I can think of a couple things, I am filling to to 240 bar min. and I am topping tank from 3500 to 4650 where the F8 kicks off so this is the hardest kind of compressing all the time. I need to keep closer track to see if my estimates are good, you sounded more scientific -vs- mine was a sloppy guesstimate. When you are filling to 3500 psi, it don’t take much filling and the tank needs topped off or the next fill falls short.

Topping off my 44 cu ft tank It is taking about 36 seconds per shot with my Standard 30 cal with my original Shoebox assuming 25 shots per fill and 10 fills per top off. I top the tank off from 3000 psi back to 4500 psi which takes about 150 minutes. It sounds like something is wasting air in your setup rather than the Freedom 8.

Ya, I saw his old light there too, I think he bought leds now…. I use them too and if I’m picky on set up I get 0 errors but it is picky, I’ll get the real deal led’s some day, I would like it if someone converted from our system and said ” the leds make all that picky deal go away ” and it would get easier to spend the money. Right now I am starting to think on a big compressor, my freedom 8 takes about 1 to 1.5 minutes per shot to keep up with my .30 cal. so I can easily run outta air. You know me tight ass, I am still using my paint ball guppy tank with a Joe B valve conversion so the compressor is running all the time. Going to search the site here for DIVE and see what has been written and if not enough I am going to start a dive compressor thread…

Them are so when i get tired pulling patches…. I just cut one down to size and line em up :7: :7:

Ohh and them are the puck lights from my failed attempt at a crony light setup, just can’t throw them out yet i may need em

I shot over the Chrony using those very lights last night and only had one error. 🙂 Alignment is more sensitive. I had the gun aligned about 1/2″ to the left of center but then it worked every shot.
