.308 Build
Ordered all the pieces from AF today so I can build my .308 Condor. Frame, trigger asembly, power wheel, fore arm grip. I have 28″ barrel and bigbore Blod valve. I will make everything else. Lathe is going to be here around 12:00 tomorrow. Can’t wait to start making things on a real lathe. I will then have .22 .25 and .308. Want to try and break 400 fpe with .308.

Tried to get the .308 back together today but it wasn’t meant to be. Machining the hammer for some reason I had the wrong number in my head and cut it .030″ to big where it slides on the barrel. I bored out the plastic part and started over. It is now drying and if I get home early tomorrow I will try again. Did make a aluminum shelled delrin breech. Slides so much better. Hopefully it is strong enough where the front o ring is and doesn’t blow through where it is.
I’m going to order a .451 barrel on Monday. I will build my own frame that will be 1.75″ OD so I will have enough space to do what ever I want. My tophat is at .106″ and does make more power then when I have it at .080″ but I don’t think it’s worth the amount of extra air used. I get around 20 fps more but it uses 150 psi more. Will machine the barrel monday because I already miss the .308. Going to turn the OD of the barrel down so it fits in a collet real nice. Right now it is a little small for the collet I use and will turn it down to the next size.

theres was a guy that made bulles for DAQ’s, and they where awesome…super soft, very accurate, very consistent, but i cant find the fucking link…i still got some boxes of bullets from him….and 20 poounds .45 ammo…that i have nothing to fire it out of
so when is someone gonna make a .308 springer ?
i made a .50 cal SS…..the .50 cal barrel was only 12″ long….it didnt work out too good…loud as hell, and i mean extremely loud very booming….also my attempts to keep the stock endcap in the frame was impossible….guess the pressure was too high LOL also it didnt make it past 500 fps…i did take pictures…but even with careful treatment of all pics…i must admit some have gone lost over time…dang it
i made a 14″ .308 which did about 650 fps with roundballs and a hotrodded condor valve…its sold…i dont know to whom, and pics where lost of that as well (i think i lost my memcard) barrel fit in the frame of the SS, and the few inches the frame was beyond the barrel actually made a huge difference…it took the noise down to safel hearing levels with out protection…frame was vented with 5 holes in the bottom rail into the frame between bushings (a nice allmost invisible place…front bushing vented…fleece lightly wrapped between bushing to slow the air down….a nice puff of air would come out that way with each show…pretty cool
but no .50 cal….457 though with 32 or 34″….topped out at 601 fpe with 500 grain….with a .50 cal you run into a problem of having enough space for hammer to be heavy enough…or maybe it was just me having that problem…i like my hammers to be 100gram and tophat to be .110″ or less travel

What caliber has the best selection of slugs? Not interested in anything Mr Hollow point( Mr. +-.003″) sells either.
Nobody has ever made a 50 cal Condor what a beast that would be put a longer barrel on it too!

Well I sold my .308 barrel and hammer to Gearhead today. I have another one I’m going to machine here shortly. Before I sold it though I had to try helium. Well on 3000 psi of helium I got 1060 fps with 157.5 gr for 393 fpe. Then I pumped it back up to right around 3100 psi and shot the 171 gr at 1045 fps for 414 fpe. I have been in the garage a little to much lately making parts for myself and customers. I enjoy it but I need to take a little break. Not to mention I put in 12 to 15 hrs when I work at my day job which has been a lot lately. So it was easier to sell my barrel and machine my other one when I have time.
Took and hollowed out the cocking knob trying to get the breech assembly down in weight. Finished it off with a delrin cap to add a little length. Got it down to 57 gr. Had the gun completly apart so I could test tworr’s hammer. Put it all back together and put in a 171 gr slug and tank dump. Put in a 158 gr tank dump. Now I’m puzzled. Put the shim behind the tophat to bring it to .080″ and all is well. Shot around 50 shots with 3 sizes and different pressures to see whats going on. Noticed I had to run the power wheel at 10 to open 3200 psi. Then I started turning down the power wheel and now it opens at 2. So I had nothing to loose and removed the spacer. 3300 psi 171 gr shot 850 fps for 275 fpe.
Seems like everytime I take it apart things change and nothing was changed. I do know that going from .106″ to .080″ is about 100 psi per shot more in the small tank I test with. It is only about 17 fps difference. I’m going to make a new stem and make it so I have a tophat of .090″. I shot down to 2300 psi and it was still making over 200 fpe. Going to take it shooting to see how it shoots on 62 ci tank before I go any further.

Short screws. Cut and ground them until they didn’t stick in anymore. I will make the left side a shield all the way back and bolt on to where the collar is. I’m right handed. First I have to get this thing working with out any problems and then I will do it. Breech is the only problem I have left now to figure out b
