Q:

Another Importer of Raptor Compressor

Good find Jamie! $1000 plus shipping makes this more viable. They appear identical but w/o the Raptor name and packaging on them and an $800 markup. It appears he gets up to the 20 min factory order and then orders them direct. AOA won’t be able to get a monopoly from China.

That’s quite a difference. 😯

quote lars-atx:

so, these are

beige raptor – 3.18 cf/m = 190 cf/hr – 1250 shipped (quote from todd)
shiny raptor – 3.88 cf/m = 232.8 cf/hr – 1800

shoebox F8 is 8cf/hr. – 1150

dman, you looking to import a few of these? is there a website w/ costs listed?

Im all over this… hopefully it pans out these will be a nice addition to the air gun community. I would like to just get one here and really work it … Put an hour meter on it and let it run ill fill and empty my tank till the thing blows. gotta find out what these things will do.

The way I figured that will top off my 44 cu ft tanks in about 25-30 minutes that take 2.5 hours with my original Shoebox. I boosted it to be closer to an F8.

3.18 cfm vs 3.88 cfm

I agree.

quote dman1114:

I don’t think id even want to go with the slower one i think the price is within 100$ difference… If i did the math / conversion properly

slower 1 takes about 200 mins to fill a 9L bottle to 200 bar so thats about a 88 CF tank. so figure 5 hours to fill a tank from 0 thats over twice the speed of the F8

and the other one takes 140 mins to go to 200 bar on a 9L so around 3.5 hrs to fill a 88CF 0-300 bAR where as the F8 takes 12 hours to fill from 0

He stated the fill rate in the video. Do you know what they both are vs cost?

quote dman1114:

Not sure which one Todd has but the supplier has essentially 2 different models . And of the 2 models they also list 2 different fill rates

So is the Raptor better in some way and worth more?

quote lars-atx:

I was just exchanging emails w/ Todd about that compressor. He quoted me $1250 shipped and he said he’d handle any service, and it had a parts warranty for a year.

He also pointed me to precision air site as an alternative ( He is currently out of stock). He said the one at PA is slightly different, different drive mechanism and fuse.

I was strongly considering getting one as an upgrade to my shoebox for speed and simplicity. If someone is going to import these from this site and do a stress test then I might wait.

He said they were the same manufacturer, it just had a different drive mechanism and fuse. that was earlier this week and I have not replied yet asking for more details, I assumed it was similar to chain vs belt drive for shoebox.

It would. The medical compressors also tend to have some safety features like namely a secondary max pressure shutoff that are missing from my Shoebox. They also have the moisture under control. Not sure about the latest ones. It sounds like the max on these is 5800 psi.

There is also another version that is a little bit cheaper . It’s more of an open design not enclosed and it’s a little bit slower than the other. They can be had in 110 or 220 volt .

Like I said importing is new to me so I’m doing research and I’m in contact with the supplier. Just need to work out the details and hopefully I’ll have some here soon to test.

It would be nice if these work out.

I am guessing the guy is getting them at total cost in the mid 800s and making a few hundred bucks at most on each one. That seems fair. The trick is to sell my original Shoebox before the bottom falls out on prices. lol Actually I paid $550 and have used it a lot for two years.

The Raptors are based on medical compressors and that stuff has been around a long time. They supply basic tools and orings with it so hopefully other parts will be readily available. From what I can figure from the various posts and reviews they are at least 3-4x or more faster than a Freedom 8.

I bet you can put a group buy together or become a dealer.

quote dman1114:

I’m working a deal … They cost around 600$. Then with shipping and duties and other unknown fees not sure what they will be but I can order a min of 5. Importing is new to me so I’m researching. But I’m gonna order 5 to start. From what I understand there is parts for order too and servicing doesn’t take any crazy off the wall supplies either

I will run one of them 24 hrs a day till it quits gonna put it through the gauntlet. If all works out there will be more to be had under 1000$ shipped. Stay tuned

AOA and precision are fucking us at 2 k a pop. I’m not looking for a monster profit just something to cover my time and expensives as it’s more part of the hobby
