Agreed. The added length diminishes the appeal of the short. Charlie of Georgia airguns told me that he would have some mutant shorts available soon with cz barrels. Hopefully he’s getting them like that from the factory.

I’m 99% sure that barrel is a CZ .. I wouldn’t steer you wrong.
Dman, I accept what you’re saying, if you’re saying with 80% confidence the barrel I have is by CZub. It’s still odd to have that dimple in the middle of the barrel’s length (roughly centered between the scope towers, and situated at the 7 o’clock position). As I said, the barrel has a tight choke. So maybe I do have a CZub_CZ200 barrel cut down for the Short.

Fwiw when I was looking to buy a shorty while it was on sale I called tgag and he mentioned something about having to add xx inch to the barrel so now I see that some have longer barrels/guns.

There’s is no reason for someone to put a dimple at 7 o’clock on the gun… none.
These are cz200 barrels cut down to fit the shorty (just not cut enought)
The cz200 barrel has a tight choke.
There is normally 3 dimples at 12 o’clock. (For the cz200 sights)
These only have one cause they cut the barrel down. To fit the shorty.
Hence the reason why there is only one dimple.
Why the dimple at 7 I can’t tell you… maybe they didn’t pay attention

on my barrel the dimple (pointing to 7 o’clock) seems to be blued, no shiny metal. I don’t know how that makes it a CZ200 barrel with it’s extra length like EF’s barrel has.Plus, I would think that would be sloppy work from CZub were that the case. I may have mentioned that the barrel is choked. I shoved a couple of pellets through it and could feel a sudden resistance. It’s not a light choke either, if you ask me. The impressions on the pellets show a deep relief. Maybe it’s some of those fat (5.53 or 5.54) 5.52 Jumbo Heavy pellets I got my hands on? I shudda tried the AA 18 gr while I had the barrel out?

That is sloppy on the port. So this is a barrel made in CZ but not by CZ?
I have a dimple on my ass but none of you freaks will ever see it.
Is there an exact distance this dimple is marked on the CZ200 barrel? What’s the original length of a CZ200 barrel or can they vary? Mine appears to be blued but the dimple is much further back past the 11.5″ mark. Darryl mentioned his was around 7″ mark. My barrel is choked at about a couple inches prior to the barrel exit. The TP hole could be a bit cleaner when the drilling was completed.
If that dimple is blued like the rest of the barrel… that is a cz200 barrel.
That is not a random dimple. They are used to align the scope mounts on the cz200.
It’s just when they had them machined they cut off part of the breach end and did not clock it properly so the dimple was at 12 o’clock.
The random dimple on your barrel is a bit strange. It serves no alignment purpose. It’s like someone started to drill and thought, “wait a minute, that hole should go there” then stopped.

This barrel stuff is getting real old, why don’t you contact the retailers and tell them to get listone barrels in the shortys and be done with it, leave the cz behind….
