I had a few sanity-regaining minutes away from the wife and boy today and took the opportunity to shoot the baby mutant with the “German” barrel. Unfortunately it’s pouring rain outside but at least it’s not windy. Six shot groups (half a mag) at 25 yards, shooting unsorted JSB 18’s @ 770 fps, using a cheap (wire mildot) UTG scope at 12x, prone off a bag. These were pretty average results for this session. The bottom target was a one holer plus a flier, I must have farted when I pulled the trigger.

I’ll have access to 50 yds. indoors next weekend and I hope to get some shooting in then as well. I shot the Eddie R3M .25 indoors yesterday at 50 yds., average 5-shot group:

If the shorty can hang with that I”ll be happy as it’ll fulfill my needs as a short to medium range covert hunter. I will say though that it’s a bit of a challenge to shoot this thing off the bench because it’s so short!

Cricket, that’s a great idea. Sadly most of the woods around here are in city parks with walking paths. I’ll try to find some place, but even at that I’m looking at a drive. Sometimes I wonder if I should try a new hobby. But there must be some place I can get to and stretch this gun out that’s nearby. I’ll have to see what I can find.
Darryl
PS I took some photos today. I’ll add them to my photo-bucket and post them a bit later.
Darryl, go out in the woods and find a nice place to shoot, I have a 2 minute bike ride from my house to a local wood where I have found a place hidden away in the trees. It measure about 107 yards with trees on both sides :8:
I haven’t seen any rust in my barrel (yet). I agree that 50-yard groupings would tell the tale, and I base that on two things: a) Keyer’s results with his Listone barrel (Oakie’s too), b) when I think of 50-yard groups, to be specific, I’m thinking MOA groups. A 5-shot group at 50 yards is MOA if it measure 0.500″ c-t-c. Repeatable. If it measures less, I’m ecstatic.
I have a good friend who’s a very competitive shooter. He bought one of the first FX Bobcats in .30, and took it to a warehouse so he could zero the gun with no wind, and so find it’s true ability. Too bad that warehouse is no longer available to him or me. That just means I have to try the gun either eiarly in the morning, or later in the day when the winds are at their minimum. No 100-yard indoor ranges near me, and the nearest 100 yard outdoor range for small-caliber and airguns is 21 miles away. I do have 25 yards, so a 5-shot group with an MOA of 0.25 would be a worthy goal for me (keep it quiet because I have neighbors on three sides; another reason I wanted the Short because it’s a quiet gun).
I look forward to you real shooters showing me what these barrels can do. In fact, I rely on you guys to put the Short through it’s paces. My paltry 25 yards won’t even be worth posting unless the best the gun can do is a 3″ group at 25 yards. Then you’ll probably hear me before you read my post!
Darryl
Yes Darryl. Of course. I’m anxious to see how your barrel shoots bc Peter offered me a replacement for my Korean barrel. The Korean barrel is not consistent. A few good shots then a flier. What Peter will be sending me, I have no idea at this point.

Agreed folks were yelling about a twainese barrel well I have one and it is flippin terrific
That is the bottom line. How does it shoot and is there anything physically wrong with the barrel or finish. I am asking for groups at 50 yards. If it doesn’t match what I receive there is a big problem. Other than that I don’t care if it was made in someone’s basement or garage. 😉
I will say I believe Petr hurts his reputation. He’s his own worst enemy. He has this odd way of looking at the customer service end of the business that seems sometimes to be at odds with customer needs, as in the barrel issue. Personally, I think it’s a lack of forethought, which might reveal unintended consequences. Does he not “see it coming” when he does some of the things he does, or does not do; things that you or I might anticipate with a little forethought and then decide to take a different tack rather than proceed? I know that in my past dealings he really tried hard to set things right, and ultimately did so. I just think his way of handling things is out of touch and inadequate. I can’t say he’s a bad person because I don’t believe he is a bad person. Maybe he demonstrates the loose definition of insane: doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result? Certainly the tone of the customer service issues brought up in this thread are not new to him. Yet he persists and stays in the business. Over on the Yellow “Dealer BOI”, just checking out the first two pages, one can see the feedback is at opposite extremes on Petr and on TGAG.
So, for me dealing with Petr again was a decision based on my interest in the Short, and the low price he was offering. If I do find I need to replace the barrel (with a Listone barrel) my out of pocket costs are still lower than advertised elsewhere online. Sure, I have had my usual case of heartburn and doubt in dealing with Petr, and that’s worth something. My “anti-acid” is to express myself in forums like this one. I hope he’s reading this thread. Be aware that I am aware that a person can garner sympathy from others for his concerns, but that, at best, satisfaction comes in telling the person responsible for those concerns. I have done this with Petr concerning this barrel issue. Now, if he’ll only respond to my latest comms I may have a little bit of that satisfaction. How’s that for the glass half full?
thank you,
Darryl
Yes of course if the barrel is accurate why bother buying another unless you see something like rust in the bore.
should I not at least establish the gun’s accuracy first? That seems to be the final judgement; is the gun a shooter, or not. The Listone barrel is always an excellent plan-B to have. I will quantify the gun’s ability first.

+1 for oakey’s suggestion.
Gabe
Darrel do yourself a favor contact dman get a Listone barrel from him. It will br a win win situation. I would place ZERO FAITH IN PETER.
dman could be the “Mike Ehrmantraut” of the airgun business..ha!

the dimple sits midway between the scope rail towers.I’d have a 6-inch barrel! :suprisedn: There is no alignment dimple near the breech on this barrel.
btw I have to correct myself. TGAG’s site says the gun is approximately 23 inches long so I was wrong in my previous post where I assumed TGAG’s gun would be nearer to the 22 inches I’ve seen elsewhere. I overlooked that bit.
The shorty should be 575 mm long 22.6378 inches. no approximately.
So, what I have is a hybrid Short? At this point, I’m trying to find a reason to feel warm and fuzzy about this gun, and I don’t mean my @sshole. At least I can assume I don’t have a Taiwanese barrel, but not a CZub barrel (of course) But there is there no way to identify the origin of the barrel? I have to say I like the mechanics of the action; nice cocking; the trigger feels better after tightening the bolts to keep the action from moving around. even if it’s an “hybrid” length, it’s still more of a compact than not, which is the second main feature I wanted (the first is mid-cocking, but can’t have everything). Plus if I put an end cap and an ldc mod on it that would extend the length too, so I won’t obsess over this length. More important aspects of purchasing the gun will remain at the fore, for now.
btw is the barrel removal just a pull-out after loosening the barrel grub screw?
Darryl
Congrats on the CZ barreled Shorty  The reason it’s longer is because some people prefer it that way so any LDC can easily be installed or removed. Ernest machined a few this very same way. There should be an option for that, because not all people desire it machined that way. I would have no problem with an extra inch of barrel, it returns two pluses. Congrats & Enjoy

EVERYBODY!!!! has more shooting fun than me. I ought to kick the dog and get a slingshot. 🙁 nice pix, RS.

btw these guns shoot terrible if the scope rail/ frame isn’t tight. I’ll try to get mine across the chronograph soon. I like the HST adjuster. Really smooth. But it cries out for those pins to be installed in a simple tool like a screwdriver hand or something similar. I’d hate to lose those pins in my shag carpet!
Does anyone have a recommendation for a lightweight scope for the Shorty? I think anything between 7x and 10x would suit my needs.
