Ya I saw that too but some of it was me on a quick improvised bag I know for sure, it was a hurry deal. The last time I remember doing this it was slightly bigger and more scattered. I have not chrony’d since the first stem broke and it needs re-tuned now for sure.

I am forced to be out in the driveway tonight getting the camper ready so here is a 12 to 15 shot group at exactly 50 yards, I guess I have still never seen a 50 yard target posted until now. Lots of talk and descriptions but no pictures, probably missed it but here is mine anyway. It is what it is…
For what it is worth I went out grabbed my gun, aired it up for the first time in maybe 4-6 months and I did 1 test shot into a piece of firewood 15 yards away just because I did not want to blow the engine out of my truck. Mine was never a clipper but I did break a couple of valve stems set at 885. It has an Ernest metal in it now with no problems since. Taking pic from my target and my bench is in the drive out in front of the truck.
I don’t see nearly the difference RIDE sees but my best groups with the R3 .30 are about 5/8″ at 50 yards where my best groups on my R3 .25 are under 1/2″. To achieve those groups I did do some limited pellet weighing and sorting (looking for defects). Normally, I see about 3/4″ at 50 yards out of the tin. Nearly ALL of the first 30s had a minor clipping issue which made the difference when I fixed it on my gun. Before that I was lucky to see an inch. I have killed maybe twenty-five raccoons with it (so far 🙂 ) and the farthest one was about 75 yards. It puts the hurts on them. The gun is pretty quiet with the large muffler but there is no hiding that wallop on impact at 75 FPE. 😛
Forgot to mention. I am still going strong on the first valve stem at about 1650 shots. I know many have broken them. Maybe it is because mine is tuned at 875 fps on the standard model. I expect it will go at which point I will try to get the new hammer/spring/valve stem setup if possible.

They don’t hold as tight of groups as the 22 and 25’s do for some reason. Somebody here may be able to explain but above my pay grade. My .30 pattern is loose compared to what the smaller calibers are but i don’t have a card to show at the moment. Maybe an inch or more compared to 1/2″ to 3/4″. It is not just Ed’s it’s the caliber for some reason. Some of the the Fx guns do ok out to 75 yards with the ST barrels I hear and then they fall apart too. Old news until someone figures it out. Plenty tight to hunt 30 cal. appropriate game out to 50+ yards, just not impressive on paper. I’ve been wanting to drag mine out and test again but been too damn hot the last few days. Does anyone else have R3 30 cal groups that they can post up? I am considering getting one, but I am interested to see if the accuracy is as good as the .22 and .25 Edguns.
I am with you OG. I have been doing tons of pesting shooting the gun out a door slit but group shooting anytime soon is out of the question. 😯
It is 2 degrees below zero here right now with around 10” of snow on the ground.
I don’t think that I will have a chance to go to the 100 yard range until sometime in March. When I do get there, I will post a lot of 100 yard groups with my 30 cal R3 Matador.
If you guys are lucky, I just might also post some 100 yard groups of my modified .257 R3 long shooting my cast HP bullets.
I am sure that you guys will get sick of looking at my groups! I’m still planning on doing the AOA Extreme Bench Rest shoot this fall and I am planning on spending hundreds of hours practice time between March and late October to get ready for the shoot.
I am going to order 5 of the official 75 yard EBR targets, for $40 plus shipping, from AOA and I hope that I can have them copied locally for way less.
It is going to be an interesting spring, summer and fall for me!
I also don’t understand why the guys that live in Fl and Ca haven’t posted any 100 yard groups with their 30 cal R3s! If I had decent weather here; I would have already posted a bunch of 5 shot 100 yard groups!

he mentioned R3Ms then / R30s … i will try to post the video from know on to approve my groups and shot counts to all and brother Secoda,,, since i got my Seben mount from Tedd, i can do it,,,,but need time to get my pellets ,,,still no reply from JSB ,,, so i asked Edward to send me 4 tins with my order ,, at least i can do some other groups with having 2000 pellets,,,but now i have only around 200 or 250 pellets of JSBs,,,, and my Matador doesn’t like these pellets ,,,,, they are all 5.52mm ,,,,, i have to order the pellet sizer i think ,,,

Go for 5 shot groups… Or tens if you think I can hold it together
Actually they are pretty good. Have you shot a full string over a chrony? That would tell us if you can improve things by tuning it.

That group shows potential for a better group. If it was scattered I would not think so. It kind of looks like the clipping did possibly. Not much shows up until 50 and beyond. The clipping is occurring on the top edge of the very front baffle on the first batch. I reamed on mine several times.
