Q:

ATN COCKING LEVER, INSTALLATION, AND ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED!

:hoot:

YES! It’s all metal. It’s quality construction!

The kit contains loose parts that YOU will need to install. Most of the kit is pre-assembled, so don’t panic when you look at the picture and don’t see corresponding parts in the bags.

First….the parts list… but some are already assembled in the kit, note my arrows as I tried to determine if everything arrived:

Now, this is how all the parts ended up as “assembled” or “loose”….note there are only six parts you actually need to ‘install’.

Here are the parts you need to attach…two short screws in the front, two long screws in the rear that attach the cocking block to the side of the gun, and finally one screw to attach to the gun’s internal cocking bolt. That’s five (5) moving parts to attach…the cover plate does have a right and wrong side! Look for the side with the angled hole entries, that side faces out.

Now…a word of warning, take note, at the far right of the below image, the block the lever is hinged to (201) and it’s two screws (210)…are ADJUSTABLE parts, and must be leveled before tightened in place. Fail to do this correctly and the gun won’t cock smoothly, if at all. Bold print at bottom of post explains all….

I’m going with a left handed installation.

CRITICAL INSTALLATION CORRECTION…MUST READ!!!

THE LEVER (PART 204) ATTACHED TO PART 205 MUST BE LINED UP CORRECTLY BEFORE TIGHTENING THE TWO LONG SCREWS THAT HOLD PART 201 IN PLACE AGAINST THE SIDE PLATE! PART 201 IS ADJUSTABLE IN POSITION TO PERMIT THE COCKING LEVER TO OPERATE SMOOTHLY, IT IS THEN LOCKED IN PLACE BY THE TWO LONG SCREWS (PARTS 210).

I suggest the following sequence…

1) SNUG-TIGHTEN THE FRONT TWO SCREWS, THEN START THE TWO LONG SCREWS THAT HOLD PART 201 TO THE SIDE PLATE, LEAVE THEM LOOSE.

2) NOW ATTACH PART 205 WITH THE THICK SCREW 208 TO THE SLIDING CYLINDER INSIDE THE GUN…YOU MAY TIGHTEN IT FIRMLY AT THIS TIME.

3) THIS IS IMPORTANT…YOU MUST “ADJUST” THE ANGLE OF PART 201, THE HINGE BLOCK, SO THE COCKING LEVER IS LEVEL AND SLIDES BACK AND FORTH SMOOTHLY! PART 201 DOES NOT SCREW AUTOMATICALLY INTO IT’S CORRECT POSITION.

4) YOU MUST GENTLY ADJUST PART 201 UP/DOWN UNTIL THE ATTACHED COCKING LEVER TRAVELS LEVEL AND EVEN INSIDE THE SIDE PLATE. FAILURE TO DO THIS CAUSES PART 205 TO “GRIND” AGAINST THE COVER PLATE, AND THE COCKING LEVER BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE.

5) ONCE THE COCKING LEVER MOVES BACK AND FORTH, BUTTERY SMOOTH, AND HOLDING PART 201 IN PLACE, CAREFULLY FINAL TIGHTEN THE TWO LONG SCREWS (PARTS 210) THAT HOLD PART 201, TO THE SIDE PLATE. WHILE TIGHTENING THESE TWO LONG SCREWS, MOVE THE COCKING LEVER BACK AND FORTH A FEW TIMES TO ENSURE THE COCKING LEVER IS STILL LINED UP STRAIGHT, BEFORE FINAL SNUGGING THE TWO SCREWS DOWN.

CAREFUL INSTALLATION OF PARTS 201 AND 210 ARE THE KEY TO PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE COCKING LEVER, AND IT’S SMOOTH OPERATION.

(Phew!!! I’m tired. It took three hours to pinpoint the real cause of the problem.)

kind regards,

If you rotate the cocking rod guide piece, you change the fore/aft positioning of the pellet probe. That can change POI because the pellet is now loaded a different distance into the barrel. Since, you don’t have breach leak and the gun cocks OK, the simplest is to recalibration your scope.

You could alternatively undo the two screws connecting the cocking rod to the pellet probe body. Then rotate the cocking rod to change its length to compensate for your other adjustment. Just make sure you have enough threads engaged, have no breach leak, and firmly retighten those screws.

Do you still have to order these from Airgun Tech or is there a stateside source ? Any link to either to order ? Thanx.

:hoot:

No stateside supply. Must be ordered.

Well, I’ve had mine installed for a few weeks. Been shooting very little. Noticed that POI was off. This weekend I shot a few mags and POI was off a lot.

When I installed the lever, the round part the original cocking knob was screwed into was too far to the rear to attach the lever screw so I rotated the round part until the hole was almost directly under the screw hole with the lever. Should this have been done? Wondering if I should have simply moved the cocking rod so there was tension on it? Is my POI now off because the probe isn’t in the correct place? I don’t notice any air in my face when shooting but ….

If I did this wrong, how do I get it back correct?

Ordered on January 7, still waiting. Very excited to get it

There is prior art specific to the Vulcan that predates to both products. I don’t see either as a copy of each other. What did matter most to me was the long customer service history at AGT. Nice metal construction. Doesn’t “need” modification, but can benefit from the magnet mod.

Again, this thread is about the AGT lever installation and adjustments.

Yes, it can be installed on both sides. Already a project that was born longer than Evgeny, and like any project, has already been modified, and we come in a super efficient model with no future problems. His, despite having copied our project, still needs to be modified in a lot to get where we arrived.

Could we move vendor discussion and advertising of the Thiago products out of this thread about installing the AGT lever and into its own thread?

What makes yours better? Is it better materials or what? What is it made out of?

Can yours be installed on either side?

What’s the price on yours USD?

Our side lever is tested and approved. Much prettier and with a better design than Evgeny’s. Our Side Lever model was copied by Evgeny. Our project is on a higher level, with no problems, no changes. We have a final model for sale. That will work on any Vulcan model.

In addition, you can still purchase the Mag Holder for Vulcan 2016, 2015. As well as perfect magazines, no problem of decentralization. You can also purchase with us the moderator long super reduction sound. You will purchase your Vulcan upgrade kit at one go, and it will still save on freight.

inserting magazine is a pain though. will take time to get used to. safety wise, it got worse. cant lock the bolt open so you pay that price.

Magnet mod! Just do it.

Hopefully mine will be here this week.

the cocking lever is great. i was using it for quite a while, yesterday i shot one of my hw100s too along with it, that one felt shitty/sloppy in comparison with the vulcan one
!!!
the hw100s just opens wide, you have to fully pull it back only for it to click to rotate the magazine, so the pull does little only the last bit indexes the magazine, on the long forward stroke again only the few cms compress the hammer spring. so in between is not much happening sloppyness. i like the Vulcan more.

the vulcans one is better. Shorter pull, spring loaded. Feels really great. I like it.
I moved it to the right hand side though. you must be lefty hee. Not sure why the Vulcans comes setup for a lefty hehehehe

few scratches appeared on the side lever, on the top, the section which disappears into the hinge when closed. maybe some grain of sand got in. or just wear and tear. Nothing critical hair thin. seems solid. easy to operate.

Side lever works fine in my Vulcan Tactic .25

The magnet mod came in handy today during barrel cleaning. Tilting the gun up isn’t so conducive for barrel cleaning.
My magnet mod kept the breach open for the job.

One could use something like a rubber and to hold the lever back, but the mod makes it even more simple.
