Best Ammo Choice For .25 AAA Condor
I would like to know what is the the best ammo to run through one of these guns to get max distance and energy when it hits. I’m wanting to shoot for consistence at 100 yards with some knock down force still. If i could get a few different makers and what grain size you would go with to achieve all this please let me know thanks.

Jerry,
I agree, but I cant help but think I can get a few more consistent shots with more practice. I did shoot a string of 10 9rings at the end and all but one were within 1″. Here’s the #s. 3000psi > 2550 pw 6.4
760.4
756.4
748.4
740.0
737.6
731.7
726.6
720.2
715.6
709.3
some good stoping power there I think.
You have a stock spring because Tony built my gun also.
I’d say things are looking pretty good there. Look at the range from 768 to 815 and it seems there is a sweet spot there that makes for some nice tight groups. The power is nothing to sneeze at either. Another thing to remember is that these heavy slugs will carry that power further than a faster diablo pellet that slows down faster. With a set of repeatable settings and pressure that give you one hole accuracy, you have a solid hunting combination.
I’m not sure if its a stock spring, it is definatly not stainless. It is what Tony puts together for his AAA’s. I have never left it cocked for any length of time.
You could use a better Hammer spring also. The stock one is on the weak side and if you forget and leave it cocked like I did a few times it lost some of it’s strength. Had to turn up the power wheel to get what I was getting before. I use a slightly stiffer stainless spring.
I think to utilize a pressure above 3,000 psi, I would need a heavier hammer. I tore down last night for a much needed cleaning and while the hammer was out I weighed it, 92.6 gm’s. When I ordered the gun from Tony he emphisized it would be tuned and not a power monster. I have read about people using 100+ gm hammers, But I think it would limit me to strickly slugs.
Back to my testing, I went to the 6ring’s. This time I used a home made sand bag because I don’t own one. It was my soft lunch bag filled with sand, about 50 lb’s.

Then I decided to turn the power wheel down just to see what would happen because of the odd result i got from going up. I where Tony set pw at 6.4 is the best place for it.
Sorry for the way I recorded the data on this one.

Well I’m still all over the place. Thats why I cleaned the gun last night. hopefully it helped. It’s supposed to rain hear until thursday, then I will try again. If I get the same results I will try videoing myself shooting, slow it down and analyze.
You could try a 3100 or 3200 psi fill
Doug,
At the risk of a thread hijack, all our heavy .25 slugs are $15 per 100 plus shipping.
That said, I’m waiting on the next set of pictures from “thenoid.” It’s rare we get posts and even more rare that the post is an honest assessment of progress vice something blown to bits, or a trophy group.
I’m positive from what I’ve seen (and shot) that the first three shots can be repeated over and over. I wish I had a simple answer to make the technique for that gun self-evident!
How much are your 7 rings Jerry? Right now I shoot 43 eunjin’s at 1040 fps. What do you think the 7 rings will shoot at? Thanks Doug
Yes I am working on hold, probably too much. It was a little windy maybe 10 mph coming from behind at about 8-2 o’clock most of the time. Tomorrow I plan on trying some 6 rings, try a sand bag to prove to myself it is me.
As far as the pw, all I can imagine is, it has a sweet spot, I don’t know. Maybe if Tony has time to read this he can give me some insight.
Well, you turned down the PW and power went UP to over 105 FPE. I would not have anticipated that…
It looks like you start with a great group and then open up. Are you still working on hold? Great data BTW!
Well I went to Cabella’s this morning and purchased a beta chrony. Its not what I wanted but no more waiting and it will do.
I started off with 7 ring slugs, pw max, 30 yrds, 3000-2400psi
I recorded the order of shot placement but it probably was a waist of time until I learn to shoot better.

changed pw to 6.4 where Tony set it for eunjin 43’s and refilled, 3000psi-2250psi

I was surprised to see more air usage and higher fps with the pw set lower. I’m running low on 7rings so I will test 6rings next and go lower with the pw and see what happens.
As far as I know, Chairgun is a solid program and accurate. There’s only one way to be sure though and that’s a chrony…
Jerry,
How accurate do you think using chair gun would be to figure out fps by comparing poi at different ranges.
I zeroed at 30yds, then found my elevation at 75yds went to chairgun and came up with 780 fps

Looks like you need a little more pressure with the 9 rings to find that curve. Getting them all (but one) inside an inch is encouraging! The first shot was over 113fpe and that’s right at .22 LR range for standard ammo (or within a couple pounds).
Practice is always good and the best part is that it is fun! I hope the 9 rings work well out to the longer ranges for you, it’s fun putting a lot of lead on target.
