Blowguns!
So I decided to try out a blowgun after looking at the aoa blog to help a friend adjust his power level after, ahhh nevermind.
BUt anyways I have no idea what to order, 5 foot, 4 foot, 50 cal, 625 cal(what I think I want)

Also I doubt Im going to be stealth warrior ninja, and read you can coat them(darts) in something for hunting?

there is a great write up in one of the old Airgun Digests regarding home built blowguns and darts, think its the 2nd edition
my first one was 6′ of EMT polished internally with a split length of dowel and a chunk of 800# wet/dry with a crutch tip for a mouth piece
used a fletching jig to align the balsa vanes prior to gluing with cyronacalte
I plan on getting the 2 foot extension some time, but decided I need to practice with the stock one first.
I will rely on you guys for homemade arrow help, and will kill a squirrel asap!
I heard you should too instead of hoo when you shoot it?
Do you know if the cold steel one has the teflon coating? Would be nice!

I might be a little late to this party…
The .625 has a LOT of punch! The .40 cal goes a little faster, therefore it shoots a little straighter. I have both, and with the .625 cal I can punch through 3/4″ plywood…You can definitely make your own darts! I did 😀 and still do…For longer distances the longer the better. you can get 2 5′ pieces and put them together and have a 10′ 😀 Prolly too long, but get two three footers and there ya go. I have several .40 cal models, and one has the teflon coating inside that makes the darts go faster!

after we got the dart out of it’s skull, took some real effort there was really no bleeding
but the cat was pretty messed up, would stalk shadows and crash into walls…do all sorts of weird shit
He hid the blowgun for a good month, she just thought the cat was being “funny”
I swear we have such a wealth of knowledge on here.

first shot he took was at his girlfriends cat
dart went right through the poor fuckers skull
he calls me up to hold the stupid cat while he used a vice grips to yank the dart out
Cat was never quite right after that but the GF never found out
he just had no clue about the power even though I warned him it wasn’t a toy when he bought it 🙄
get a modified top hat, breech and bushings and stick that puppy in an AF frame 🙂
I have a 36 in .40 cal i have razor tipped and pointed darts as well as steel tipped stun darts and plastic stunners Nailed a red squirrel in the ear at a long 14 feet. Lol instant death. Also broke skin on my ex with plastic stunner. Through here jeans on her ass cheek lol man that made a hell of a thwack lol

Im thinking those mini broad heads will be the best out of the ones it comes with but we will see.
Probally knock a squirrel out with a stun dart to the head.

RS makes a good point about making your own darts… with lighter darts, my .625 is just as accurate as my other blowgun… but of course, lighter means less punch…
…YMMV though…. and you may be able to shoot the 625 just fine. Depends on what you consider accurate. For me, I can hit a mouse sized target at roughly 20 feet with either most times… but much past that, I can do better with the smaller blowgun.
The stun darts for the 625 can be mean…. dont shoot your wife in the ass with them…. Dont ask why I know that. 😳
pretty easy to build better darts then are being sold
used to use heavier gauge piano wire for the shaft and a natural cork at the base
you ease the oversize cork in the tube until it makes contact and slice it off there
drill the cork and slide it a few inches down the piano wire gluing it in place then glue in natural fletching or balsa vanes
you want the assembly to be a smooth fit through the tube
lots of variables in making up decent darts…blance points, tips, types of fletching and vanes
another point is its usually better to sort of cough than to blow
was building darts and blowguns all the way back in the 70s
never much cared for the current commercial versions
have a very nice original blowgun from Amazonia that was collected in the 1890s That one is about 8 foot made from cane covered in woven reed and cordage with a wood mouth piece, also came with a hunters fiber dart bag and a few original darts. I’ll try to remember to dig it out and take some pix next time I get up to my cabin.

there are plans online for various marble shooting airguns
can’t find my favorite off hand which is almost all PVC and a breech loading bolt action
with proper darts the marble guns can be quite a hoot
had one sending my own darts well over 500 FPS, send the piano wire core through both side of a garbage can 😉
