Sitting on the shelf on a bottle.
I tried it, did not install the pogo stick of a spring yet, moving next week and no time.
I will however, in the new 2 car garage/shop, proceed with this for sure.
It’s a nice piece of work, the blod/brad valve, and I believe those of us here in the USA will figure it out.
I will start by removing the p/w and adding spacers, so pab, could you lead me off with what I need to start with.
Spacer wise that is???

Saw, combined hammer and spacer length start with about 3.070 inches. Hammer I use now is about 50 grams.
I needed to fill in the little well on the breech as my blod tp wouldn’t fit in there. I don’t know if Brad has changed the tp to fit in a regular breech? If not, you gotta have a flat faced breech…

Walter and Adam, I pm’d Sean a few week ago to ask about the inserts. Nope. Not on the one being made here. Which would have been what would have been the very thing I would have been looking for in a new valve. That and more Consistency/Shot Count. I have PLENTY of POWER Now!!! 😯 😈

You could, but so far there has been precious little data to indicate you would want to. Very few numbers posted so there’s no way to estimate what spring is best…
cant u measure the blod spring with a tool like you would use to measure a valve spring and ask for a spring with those characteristics in the same size as a stock condor spring

You guys are the wizards here regarding tuning these guns but my impression was that the blod valve ala Brad would allow tuning up to big power with a drop-in part. The fact that the US spec guns have another part (power wheel) reduced the length of spring available space from the original design parameters and has led to overly high cocking effort and sub-optimum performance with the supplied spring.
It appears that a simple spring cut is not a high confidence adjustment but we have no empirical evidence to show that it does not work. We also have no numbers derived with any other spring.
I’m thinking that a lighter spring with the additional pre-load (due to less room) will work in conjunction with top hat adjustments and hammer weights to allow this valve to make big power and also be tuned down for consistent lighter shots. Need proof or at least evidence though… Pab’s experience probably provides the evidence that leads to my speculation. We need some US spec gun numbers to flush that out though.
Port diameter would be another variable to consider but would only build on the basic data that is currently lacking.
That was my initial draw to the Blod valve when he first started making them. I dont know that these new valves have that feature…or if they do, they are not advertised as such that I have seen.
Brad needs to sort this out for the guys here in the USA.
Having to use extra heavy springs and extra heavy hammers is taking a step backward.
I always saw the benefit of the blobnob valve was not just the power but the ability to screw in different diameter exhaust ports to fine tune the performance you wanted. Does this new valve come with all the exhaust port diameters?
Tex, put your tuning efforts into the new style Condor valve and you will be most pleased. Randyhub has had great numbers all along with the Airforce bits. I think he is getting a Leupy hammer as well mainly for the beautiful work the guy does.
BTW have our project at the 50% point, need to finish it so I can have my big lathe back 🙂
I agree walter, the lack of data is making me wait to purchase one. I have a leupy hammer/spring to try first anyway.
If I understand this so far, only Pablouk has a functioning valve, hammer and spring with good numbers to boot.

wow! i just got mine installed and seeing all this makes me think “what did i get myself into?” 😆 😆 😆

anywase since i have a 90 gram hammer does that mean it has to come out for a lighter one?
