Could a frame threaded condor moderator be made?
I was just wondering if the inside of the frame and the outside (the piece that sticks in the frame) of the moderator could be threaded? The moderator would still not be able to be easily mounted to a firearm. Is this something anyone has done or could do? Or would it have to be too exact to figure out if theres an issue of clipping?
Thanks

How about Black Powder? I can go right this minute and buy a .458 caliber black powder gun and take it home today. The general population is fully aware of them.
Yup
LOL 🙂 Good point. And the nutcase would be tackled while they try and reload for the second shot 🙂

Oh man did RS say Ted Nugent sharpens his knives with ceramic v-sharpeners…… 🙂 Seriously though RS. You may have valid points but you write too dang much… Trim it down. Your time is not the only one that’s important 🙂
WOK: Dead on the money with regards to Black Powder
Few Felons with bad intent will ever have an interest in Big Bore air guns
there are zero advantages for them over a black powder rifle
moreover a Black Powder revolver
KM: Juvenile is the little sissy bitch that attempts to bully others and when steamrollered with the fact that he has his head up his ass, grabs his side and cries out in pain
I think after this response I am just going to set you to Ignore, it’s a waste of bandwidth and my valuable time to get into these idiot purse fights with someone who doesn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to the Regulations or indeed…how they are more often than not administered.
Now let me get this straight…because I was purchasing lawful products for resale at gun shows from a half a dozen well known vendors that were publicly selling them on the national market in SGN I’m the Ex Post Facto “Bad Guy”? Do I have that right?
Look you are obviously way far out of your depth here. There was not ONE thing Criminal about selling moderator parts sets back in the day, nothing. Numrich Arms did it, SARCO did it, J&G Rifle Ranch did it…dozens of outfits big & small were in it after the MAC bankruptcy auction and as noted so was DAQ, hell he was the main Tube man, cash and carry just like his fine AGs today. Get a grip on yourself, the law is a black and white thing…its usually Statist liberals that foam on about “skirting” the law or “loopholes”…you know like the “Gun Show Loophole” and how it allows people to “skirt” the law on Brady background checks…problem is the Brady checks have NEVER applied to private intrastate transfers…just another example of your left wing LIBERAL NewSpeak
So go ahead and call me “Criminal” just remember nearly every major Gun parts outfit was doing the same thing in the same period as were numerous small machine shops. Don’t ever buy a DAQ, after all it was made by the hands of known crook in your book and has a taint about it right?
Here is Dennis’ muzzle coupler page… he may not make tubes any more but he sells plenty of 1/2×20 adapters to fit your typical AG moderator on a Ruger, Colt, you about name it
http://www.muzzlecouplings.com/muzzle_couplings.htm
This is EXACTLY why 1/2×20 “AG” moderators are so damn legally problematic as they ARE readily adaptable to several firearms made with that pitch of muzzle thread and there are a number of folks manufacturing adapters to fit 1/2×20 devices on just about ANY .22 firearm. Also please please do remember that a moderator in and of itself is classified under Federal law as a “Firearm”. What this means is there is no prerequisite that you own a firearm for your AG can to be tagged as an unregistered, contraband item.
Okay, here is something else for you to digest…do you have any clue how many Sten SMg parts sets have been imported & sold? Number quoted to me in the 1990s was well over a quarter of a million! Now imagine that, wonder what happened to them all?
You can get a partial answer by going to the Wall Street Journal and reading the list of ATFE forfeited firearms posted a couple times a month. Time was you rarely saw NFA in the seizures, today its better than 10% of the listed items and growing.
Myself? I saw the hand writing on the wall well before the silencer parts rule change, had a few sets left and sold them to a Class II buddy at cost, just wasn’t worth the potential for hassle and I had made thousands of dollars off the racket while it was still legal
grow and adapt, some didn’t and were busted
Wont even bother to address your read on the Federal Court system
mostly nonsense…
Fact is you are ignorant of the law, hopefully Gimmick & I helped clear a littler bit of that up and you are not as bad as you were when this thread started. You were the ignorant assclown who bellered on about how mere parts were ok and did it in a nasty enough way that you got a chance to reap what you planted in spades. Don’t like being slapped over the head with a thirty pound dead fish check your facts before flaming others.
As far as your precious NRA they truly are the most powerful, best funded Gun Control lobby on the planet. This is coming from a once very active life member. The NRA has lobbied in favor of all sorts of compromise BS, hell where were they when Emerson went to SCOTUS, they were even notably absent from the majority of Hellers advance to the High Court. Where they really lost me and a number of other folks was when they took on that dirty old one time Liberal icon and senile bigot Charlton Heston as the spiritual figurehead of the organization. You are probably way too young or maybe were just asleep at the wheel as you have been apparently through most of your life but Heston not only wrote letters campaigning for the 1968 Gun Control Act, he actually went to DC and spoke before Congress in FAVOR of Gun Control in a very passionate speech joined by a number of other Hollyweird left wing assholes. At his core The man was straight left wing elitist scum.
You insist on tithing them, that’s up to you but I tend to support other organizations that have always seen the second as an individual right.
Some history for you…did you know back in the 30s the NRA actually published a letter from their President in the American Rifleman that called for the prohibition of the new .357 magnum round from sale to all but the Police & Military as it was clearly too powerful for civilian use?
I can get into their collaboration with Morgenthau in the creation of the 1935 NFA as well as the dirty deals made behind the scenes with the 1968 GCA and the Brady bill, {remember it was their man Bob Dole who slid that through during the thanksgiving recess and guess what, he received full NRA support in his run for the White House just like they gave it to that Rabid Anti gunner John McCain, innovator of the term, Gun Show Loophole}
anyways I choose not to support them anymore what so ever and mark my words, given the opportunity they will throw the entire Airgunning community under the bus as we really don’t count in their book
hell look what they did to the NFA community in 86′ when they decided the Hughes amendment was a fair trade off in McClure-Volkmer.
Enough on that, getting too political for a thread in this forum.
my main concern is that folks get the correct data on the regulations and understand the potential consquences when they violate them.
Again, I don’t see most of the shrouded designs as being something the JBTs are going to boot your door in and shoot your dog over
that said the threaded cans are easily prosecutable
just sayin’

Here’s a good example of intent and how the law handles it… Correctly applying the law without going nuts over the weapon in use has to be applauded. If this was the UK there would be talk of new AG law.

NRA join and contribute for your rights, they may just protect your ass in a case such as: I had a moderator on my pellet gun and no I am not so stupid to put it on a firearm without registation and tax. I for one, think silencers should be no business of the ATF, unless they can prove you had it on a firearm, this law they have and they way they have written it needs to be changed, it sounds like they have the right to any silencer device, if they want it.
RS, is it possible for you to give info without being a Ass Hole. Running someone else down to try to made your self seem more important and better informed is juvenile.
If you have somthing to say here. Say it. But your Smart ass attitude is starting to piss me the fuck off.
The case you mention is well known. The feds wanted his ass bad. Just like one of our more famous gangsters going down for Tax evasion years ago, they used the law, though vague to put his sorry ass away.
On a side note, with what you were doing at gun shows, with clear intent, you should be in But Fuck “U” your self. As far as I am concerned, you are a Criminal, who knowingly skirted the law, complete with illegal intent and got away with it.
Intent is still a big part of the Court Room. Whether specifically written in the LAW or not!
And as far as being screwed if you ever go to Fed. Court, Bull Shit. Again. It has to do with the Law, Intent, and a hell of a lot on your record, attitude in the court room, and defense.
I had to go to a Federal Grand Jury-Jury and did just fine. ( I just had to show that the right fellow got shot).
If a jury had read what what you wrote above about your activities, while knowingly skirting the letter of the law for profit, . Your ass would be a well used one shortly. For a LONG TIME
Lastly, just because some one doesn’t agree with you, it doesn’t make them ignorant of the LAW. Or anything else for that matter.
If it were all set in stone, there would be no need for prosecutes, defense attorneys, or Judges for that matter. The entire fucking Country could just call you Superior Ass.
And I really do not Appreciate your running down the NRA in a previous thread. I don’t know if your are truly that taken with your self, truly that ignorant, or have a self imposed agenda. But that was a piece of the worst double speak I have ever read. Your just a flat Fucking Lier. Period.
WOK: Its my old thesis on the power of one
as gimmick pointed out, all it takes is one idiot to start the ball rolling over the top of you. and in the vast majority of Federal cases the One is seldom the Feds, usually local or State LE
I do wholeheartidly agree that the chances of going to the Federal pokey for the shroud on your AF or Crosman rifle are about next to zero…at best they are extremely technical violations that will result in the forfieture of the offending shroud.
on the other hand if the PoPo find any of the 1/2×20 moderators sitting loose on a shelf in your gun safe you may very well be in deep doodoo
a while back I had a reasonably knowledgable LEO walk up to my table at a show and ask whether the Condor fitted with your bits was .223 or .308. He was shocked when I explained it was a .25 pellet gun
anyways my position is if you have shrouds or moderators leave them on a gun at all times
Something tha is being overlooked in this thread is that in several states and many cities pellet guns are regulated by potential velocity, just as in Canada and GB.
If 800 or 900 fps is possible, then they are considered firearms, the propellant is not relavent. If you think that the likes of Mayor Daley (Chicago) would not have you prosecuted for a moderator, you are gravely mistaken.
Think what you want, believe what you want, but you can be convicted. ATF does not preclude PCP’s, they just have other things to do. If the general population was aware of 9mm or .30 cal. PCP’s we would find ATF enforcement for our AG purchases.

I bet squirting someone with a water bottle isn’t punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years, a fine of $250,000, or both. 😯
I agree the likelihood of being arrested with an AG suppressor isn’t high but all it takes is for a single individual at a shooting range to get upset and things get less than comfortable when the boys in blue turn up. I think this thread has definitely crystallized the “letter of the law” as well as anecdotes on how it’s implemented in today’s political climate.
:1
More people have been arrested and charged with assault squirting someone with a water bottle then have been charged with a shroud on an airgun.
maybe yes, maybe no WOK…enforcement of Federal Gun regulations has always been largely situational
for the time being ATFE is mostly blowing off AG moderators as a regulatory issue but as noted its likely an accident waiting to happen as the regulations and rulings are clear

well few felons with ill intent are interested in single shots gimmick
now that said there are dozens of cap and ball six guns that are roughly equal to a .40 S&W, others that are nearly as powerful as a .357 such as the Walker Colt and Dragoon series.
Another cute point is Sawed off cap & ball Double barrel shotguns. Used to get the cheap EMF 10 gauge and 12 gauge SXS percussion doubles and covert them into legal Sawed offs. Perfect car guns in this State as you could keep them uncased and loaded in a vehical as long as the caps were not on the nipples. Two 10 bore tubes loaded with mil surplus flechettes over a stout load of pyrodex is devastating at close range
an ex con could lawfully own any of this stuff under existing Federal law
why oh why would they ever want an air gun…LOL
