Cricket accuracy review
This is my first review and accuracy test on my cricket I got before Christmas. I did put a Synthetic stock and pod on it Friday and did some indoor shooting. I have gotten better shooting this as I’m a first time pup user. As you will notice which groups turned out the best were the last ones as they will speak for themselves. Test were done inside with decent light but my right eye had problems focusing but all in all I’m happy with the gun as it shoots great. Thanks Peter for the great sale! will leave you some feed back.
SO the smaller targets are at 50 and the bigger targets at 60 yards. I did shoot two 14 shot groups at 60 yards which will show a bigger hole in the target.
Hopefully link will work for you guys. Pictures of gun come first then the targets. Enjoy

 It is Amazing. Fredrik A. of FX can afford anything yet uses a Hawke and flew several of them 7000 miles to get there. :biggrinn: There is a very good reason besides cost. But your correct That is also the reason the Bobcats won. 😛
I couldn’t possibly dissagree more. The reason more of them won, is because more of them were there. And it is AOA’s biggest selling scope.
Their one big atvantage is that they have a very good warranty. And from post on AG forums, they need it often. It is a well tested warranty.
You guys have expensive AG’ss. Many of them. Why not try just once in your life a Quality Scope, and mabe be, Just may-be you might stop asking the same damed questions all the time. Hell, the Europeans figured this out dechades ago. Look and see how many Hawkes you see at top events there. Where AG’s are a way of Life. And have been for a very long time.
If you pay attention to what has gone before, you can learn al lot. You did it with your guns! right. You aren’t asking what is the best marader any more are you. Or the best damed pumper. Same, same.Quite pissing around and Buy quality if you can. And I know that you can, and quite whinning about what is good enough or not. 😀 Pussies! 🙄

First of all Hawke SW is not a cheap scope. Its probably the best balance between between 1k glass and more. After a guys pays 2k for a gun he can’t cough up another 1500 for a scope. So don’t get all pissed when people try to find some middle ground. Nothing wrong with that. BTW if one thinks buying a more expensive scope will make him hit more targets he is probably going blind to begin with. If you can’t judge the distance between you and your target and can’t find the correct holdover your dead in the water. Nothing can help you there except yourself not even your deep pocket;-)

Remember this statement? typical Chinese manufacturing, ” It’s good enough 😉 . This was irritating to me as I was using them for on and off constantly application. The only other real issue or two is the finish is like a thin powder coat that is too” Yada, yada yada. And so true. Now multiply this many times over for the scopes themselves! 😉
Ya, your right, I know the answer, just hoping for some confirmation that I did not need to spend the big $$. That is why I have not bought a scope for the bench gun yet, deep down I knew. I have been getting by with my older Weaver T36 so far. The Hawkes are great for my plinking and even hunting that I do but need to step up on the target gun, as I want more than the old Weaver design can offer.
Ride, you posted this on another thread. And you are dead right! And this goes many times over for optics. Just think how much precision manufacture counts in a science as demanding as optical equipment.

I may just order the SR Pro in an 8×32-56 for this bench gun, I can see the advantage
If it has the SR Pro reticle those are only on the newer ones.
Yup this reticle should be a winner. Thanks for sharing your findings on the difference in the scopes you tested and compared. Wish I’d asked sooner as I bought a used Hawke SW on yellow yesterday. But for the money I could not go wrong anyway

That’s when [windage] the Christmas tree reticles can shine once one is well practiced on it. It is easier than the 1/2 mil dot IMO where you hold a dot in the middle of glass w/o any markings close by.

No on the real expensive scopes helping much. If you watch the Extreme competition from the last two years you will see that Hawkes usually won and there were more Hawkes than anything else by far.
Those results is partially why I asked, Just looking for an edge, also why I asked about the wind last year, in the post last night. Was an awfull lot of 75 yard bulls eyes for any kind of blustering wind I thought. Stable steady wind maybe…
The other one to consider that is reasonably priced in the US is a Falcon for FT higher level magnification (10-50×60). There are heavy but pretty well reviewed. As I understand it all of the field target scopes have some limitations on specs since they are setup for FT work only. Synopsis and Dman223 are much more informed on this. If I had the bucks I would go Sightron 10-50×60 like Syn just did for FT. Its really nice but 1100.

Secoda, I am with you on the Hawke scopes, I have just ordered my 3rd. 6-24×56 SW 30 #HK 4010. I need one final scope for my Benchrest application, I am currently using the old standby Weaver T36 fixed but would like more light and better glass. I am so !! satisfied with these Hawkes compared to every other scope I have i am struggling to decide what else to try, I really want 35-40x zoom but clarity to go along with it and am willing to pay fpr it if it is truly better than my Hawkes, otherwise it is a waste of $$$ and that kills me. I run my Hawkes at no less than 20x all the time and sometimes max them out with some reduction in brightness and clarity but still the best I have ever seen.
Let me say I have a $200 variety Hawke 4-16×40 Varmint series and it is clearly a $200 scope and does not even compare with it’s big brothers of the SW-30 ..56 mm Objective family..I would say the big Hawkes are a BEST value in the $500 range hands down.
I would like to ask here because I have never been privileged enough to use a $2000 type scope enough to know the difference, but do these Ultra high end scopes possess the ability to hold a zero or improve scores in a 25 bull bench rest competition ???
If you think squirrels are wimps watch this guy.

When I talk about getting an extra target, I’m am referring to cross hair stability and repeatability that a scope could be responsible for, it’s a fair question for anyone who has had both levels of scopes. I am also referring to if a brighter and clearer scope at high magnification truly exists because if it does it can also be a difference maker when your splitting hairs in bench rest.
I’ve spent so much money on guns over a life time and have never quit wandering what truly fine glass would be like so I think it is time to spend the price of the gun on the scope just once and see for myself. Then I’ll know the answer good or bad. It stands to reason that the big Hawkes I am using now are the best bang for the buck but if better exists I want to see it for my self. I know these Big Objective Hawkes were a huge step up from the $200 flavor of Hawkes, nikons weavers and bushnells I have had so maybe it will happen again, but I bet to a lessor extent. I’ll give an unbiased opinion and review when I pull this trigger if anyone is interested.
As far as scopes go, I have to say I have never been real happy with any scope until these HK 4010 Hawkes on 3 of my guns currently, and I do really like them and can see the difference when I look through them.
