Q:

Dr. Steele’s Cricket finds a new owner this evening

Well, I’m gonna give that favorite little Edgun shorty some compact company as I got a hold of Steve again this evening and was able to purchase a special little used Cricket Compact Skeleton Stock in .22 just as I was wanting.

I feel fortunate in that this is a used gun with some nice tuning work from Ernest and has both the original and a N.C. moderator with an optional extension and was the gun previously belonging to the late Dr. Steel here on our forum. I have to say I am a bit sentimental and would much rather have this gun than a new one, it will always seem special to me. Rest in Peace brother, your gun will be in caring hands, enjoyed as you would have wanted and well kept in pristine condition and I will be honored to look after it for you.

Steve is as nice and good to deal with as everyone says !! Two thumbs up !!

Where are those pics ?? Stop carressing the gun and take a pic . A quality Photo , like mine always are , will do.

Thats great you found another nice home for her!

Thanks for the kind words Hemm, I am happy to be the one to get his gun. I have a couple others that are from close friends that have past. They are very special to me. I am very curious about his Cricket as I have scanned all of his posts and found stark few mentions of the gun. I found mention of the tuning Ernst done and of the NC Moderator / LDC and talk about the scoping decisions but almost no mention of him ordering the gun or anticipation of it arriving ?? I am still not sure if he ever got to see it or shoot it for that matter. I will ask Steve at WWAG when we talk next time.

Ernst, do you happen to know if the gun made it to Shanu before his passing ???

In the mean time this is a hard gun to figure out how to best scope it, A gut wants it all on this one cause of the compactness. It would seem top heavy and terribly over scoped with my HK-4010 Hawkes I like so well. But it may get one anyway. I like over scoping but the top heavy part will make me shop and study a good deal first.

Leupold makes a few but they are a bit pricey. 😯 I think Dr. Steele had picked one up we discussed. I also believe he had Leupold lower the parallax range.

Yep! Any suggestions? I’ll scope mine with a Delta – to begin with. There’s no compact, lightweight, big power behind every corner but i’ll investigate.
Something in a size, shape and weight equal to a Bug Buster but minimum of 24x … Where art though ???

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …

So he did ! He also imported one of them Delta´s , a 4.5-30 Titanium , from Sweden. Must be the first one on US soil.
IMO Leupold is priced higher than its real worth. I can get IOR´s etc with the same amount of money and a Leo holds no candle on those. Unfortunately all the scopes that have the feature´s i´d like weigh from 650 grams (23 oz) and up .. I´d like to have a scope at under 20 oz .. 😥

thanks a lot Rid, for taking care of the gun of our beloved passed brother Shanu,,, i really miss him ,,, i often read his emails …. may God bless his soul …

this is a very kind of you to remind us about dear Shanu

i would like to see his Cricket…

I have a Compact Cricket .177 on order as of yesterday. :biggrinn: I have the .22 standard Cricket back in service until the arrival. I am thinking a lighter weight scope for the Compact. 🙄

Good to hear ! I have a .177 Compact on order. Will be my Backyard Bazooka .. :4:

I´m very curious to see the Dr. Steele – edition and hear your thoughts about it, Ride ! I think it´s exactly the way Shanu would´ve liked it : In the hands and under the care of another AG nut.

Dr. Steele, wanted it set at 27- 28fpe and think it got 45+ shots—I tuned some compact to 33fpe and got 30+shots but got vary loud. at 27fpe its pleasing.

The compact are vary fun size, that’s way I shoot it the most—but in .177

I’m very curious about the specs on this little gun. Length, weight, NC shroud impact, number of shots, etc….

Beyond the Lelya, currently unavailable, it’s the only sub-compact pcp bullpup available. Sounds to be a great little piece. I wonder how much power it produces?

Hoot:

Too sad. Let’s wait to see the picture of this tuned brand new rifle.

To my knowledge that Gun isn´t shot at all. Shanu got it shipped to Ernest directly , for tuning. That´s why there are no pics – he never got the possibility to take any.

Congrats, Ride! Hope you got a pile of pellets, cuz you’ll have a lot of fun shooting that Cricket. Good-looking, lightweight and CRAZY accurate. Plus, if Ernest got into it… :biggrinn: This and the honorable past will keep the Cricket a favorite.

Steve, as you say, is a pleasure to communicate with.

Wow. I have no idea what you would have paid for the gun but the circumstances make it priceless. I applaud your desire to own and honor a special gun from what sounds like a fine man.
