E-TacReg First Results
Finally got my stuff together and had enough air left in my scba to fill my new 53 ci tank.
2500psi output JDS reg and E-TacReg.
JSB Kings 25.5gr-24″ BSA barrel.
Very first string with 2800psi fill-
998 983 977 973 969 975 975 974 967 965 966 965 962 967 965 953 958 947 948. 19 shots,first 2 unusable. Not bad, but not as tight as I’d like. But remember, this is the very first string off a brand new reg.
2nd string with 2900psi fill-
983 979 973 971 971 978 969 977 972 975 969 975 968 967 974 974 973 969 963 968 958 952 947. 23 shots.Definately needs first shot off to clear from filling. Much tighter. Very pleased with this string considering its only the 2nd 😀
Ran out of light and air. I’m hoping the string will get tighter still as the reg ‘beds in’
Pleased so far……. I need to put another 500 pellets through it before I can give a more detail review. The gauge on the JDS reg is shockingly inaccurate 😯 It says 2500 when the pressure is 2900….

I asked the dive shop to call Triton to see what the thread spec is. I have not heard back.
Any dive shop will have a “pony bottle gauge” with the right threads. I know Halcyon makes one as well…about $90 worth.

I highly doubt the reg will ever let any more air pressure through. The act of letting air through is what closes the filling aperture. More pressure would close the aperture tighter. Also, unless you filled your tank to more than 3k psi there is no chance the regulator will increase the pressure to burst a disk. The burt disk failed prematurely. I’m not sure how rare that happening is, but I’m sure it’s not totally uncommon, it is a thin disk, any imperfection is the thickness will cause failure.
I’m not sure if there is a “grade” of burst disk like there is for pressure gauges. Don’t know how you would test each one, considering testing to failure would cause…well…failure.

Yes Pab, Im pretty sure that they have a diffrent thread between the gauges and the burst disks, However MM said that he has done the two gauge set up so a gauge with the right threads is definatley out there

I will take your spare actually Dasve just in case blods leaks!
Tried to put in gauge but threads were slightly wrong, even an American gauge. Close, but binds up after a couple of turns and I’m asceeerd to fuck up the threads.
Thats cool, maybe replace the bung with a gauge so you can see if the reg side increases in pressure after being left for a while

Thanks jim, I’ve replaced the disk with a bung so no worries there.
I AM worried that the reg is letting by though. Not a problem when you are banging off shots quickly at a target, could be a problem hunting though when you are waiting anything up to half an hour between shots….
Im working on it Pab, I should get pretty much all of it done tomorow.
I just pulled out that 3k burst disk from my old reg and found something interesting.
It turns out that I forgot that it was actually a burst one that I had repaired…….
How did I repair it might you ask?
Well a year or two ago, I had one burst and didnt have a replacement, so I cut out a small circle from a coke can and used that. Worked ever since and never leaked. Might help you for a quick fix or just leave it in there

Sorry, I didn’t realize you had asked me a question.
The burst disc bursting is strange, indeed. I’ve not had any problems with the regs I’ve sent out. I pressure test each one before it leaves and I’ve not popped any.
If you are having trouble finding some, I’ll send a few your way…just let me know.

Pab, The 5K disk is to stop you blowing up your tank whilst filling (Even though you have a 4500 psi SCBA tank that would never burst the disk even so it kind of serves no purpose.
The 3K one is for the regulated side, the reg layout and design is originated from paintball use, it wouldn’t be a good thing for the reg to fail and start filling the paintball gun to 3000psi or 4500psi on the carbon fibre tanks. So the design hasn’t changed.
I had a 3K disk blow after filling so just replaced it with a spare 5K one and carried on.
Have you got cameras rigged up around my house? I just went out to the shed to get an allen key and found a spare 3K burst disk from a distant reg. Its yours if you need it

I really like the new “Guerrilla Air Myth G2 Regulator” with 4500 psi burst disc, but someone need to figure it out how to modify it for higher output pressure 😆 😆 😆
