Q:

E-TacReg First Results

Finally got my stuff together and had enough air left in my scba to fill my new 53 ci tank.

2500psi output JDS reg and E-TacReg.

JSB Kings 25.5gr-24″ BSA barrel.

Very first string with 2800psi fill-
998 983 977 973 969 975 975 974 967 965 966 965 962 967 965 953 958 947 948. 19 shots,first 2 unusable. Not bad, but not as tight as I’d like. But remember, this is the very first string off a brand new reg.

2nd string with 2900psi fill-
983 979 973 971 971 978 969 977 972 975 969 975 968 967 974 974 973 969 963 968 958 952 947. 23 shots.Definately needs first shot off to clear from filling. Much tighter. Very pleased with this string considering its only the 2nd 😀
Ran out of light and air. I’m hoping the string will get tighter still as the reg ‘beds in’
Pleased so far……. I need to put another 500 pellets through it before I can give a more detail review. The gauge on the JDS reg is shockingly inaccurate 😯 It says 2500 when the pressure is 2900….

VERY pleased with the service from Jim. He has been very informative and helpful from the start, sourcing all the parts I needed and shipping them with th E-TacReg 😀 😀 Couldn’t ask for more as far as that is concerned.
Great guy to deal with, very fast and efficient.

You guys. 20 shots??? Well, ok, I’ll bite. I guess, just for you, Pab, next pig I shoot, I’ll shoot a further 19 shots into her head and take a pic for ya. Course, I doubt she’ll give a rat’s ass what the velocity is, at that point.

🙂

Make sure that pesky top hat doesn’t start loosening up on you, that would cause no end of troubles and fuck up the consistancy you have dreamed of from the regulator

Dave

Yeah, good call, its a brand new condor valve, so that needs running in….

Im sure it will Pab, what you put through it, maybe 50 pellets?

That valve also looks like a new one, if it is then that will bed in aswell. We all know about the qualitly of these Airforce/Gunpower parts

Dave

SSS numbers are tighter than mine with the same set up, but I’m guessing he posted after running a fair few pellets through. Hoping mine will be as good….

Good Good, gotta be something in the male DNA that makes you want to take something apart as soon as you buy it 😛

Dave

Already had it apart 😆 Has to be dis-assembled to fit into the E-TacReg and whilst I had it apart, I had a good look between each of the spring washers for cack etc. Very clean, put a bit of grease on the o rings and screwed it all together.

Okay, Okay, I will give you time for you to hone your hole punching skills 😀

One thing to note, I got my reg from ExpertHPA, and as soon as it came, I opened up the reg and found one or two small pieces of brass swarf that would have either caused inconsistancies or complete faliure of the reg. I know that Mamacrackin fully dissasembled his regs and cleaned them thuroughly when he was testing.

But I suppose you don’t want to take apart the new “Toy” 😀 better leave it alone seeing as though it is doing a great job.

Dave

I need at least another 100 through mine before I’m rdy to post groups…… 😳 😆

Definatley helps having a “Fill and shoot” comfortability.

No need to keep shooting over the chrony etc.

Im using 58psi per shot on my 13 CI tank which equates to 14.7psi / 1 BAR on your 53 CI tank.

But Im using a 2000psi reg which lets me get theoretically twice the shot count.

I will be getting 50+ shots when I finally put on that 48 CI tank.

But I definatley think that the reg will settle down after a few hundred cycles and cut that standard deveation in half.

Prepare for the .25 BSA regged UK stealth 100 yard shoot off, my results will be in thursday night 😈 😈 😈 😈

Looking good Pab, looks like it is doing the trick and the velocity you want.

Thursday will be my shooting day, using my new BSA .25 barrel after replacing the old one because I am now using a Big Bore breech.

2000PSI reg on a 13 CI bottle spitting out H&N Field Target Trophy at 1026 fps for 20 shots.

You seem to be getting about 20 shots per fill on a 53 CI tank vs 20 shots per fill on my 13CI tank, this is probably because you have the increased reg pressure.

You could try a Blod valve in the E-tac which might let you lower the reg output for more shots. And I would say that the Blod valve would help keep the consistancy that a Reg’d gun should have.

Definaltley looks good for “Out of the box” performance.

Dave

Yeah, about 20 shots. Uses about 21psi per shot. Not yet filled to the full 3000, so look to get 25 from that, and I might accidently fill to 3200…. Spread start to finish is 16fps, pretty good for a new reg. Between each shot, no more variance than about 8fps. With a good tune on a blod valve, I could get this tight over 20 shots. But it would require regular tweeking to keep it there. Hopefully this reg will tighten up a tad more and give me hassle free shooting. Very happy with it so far. 😀

Damn, I need to get 1 for mine 😆

Damn pablouk, that’s nice string there.

Since you have the reg installed/configured, can you do some test group please? Thanks….

Will do this weekend. Have shot 40 yrds so far. Pellet on pellet, stupidly accurate. 😎 😀 😀 😀
